Microsoft has been really desperate to catch up to Sony's PS4 and has been selling things at pretty cheap prices. Nintendo doesn't really care enough to discount their stuff and Sony is the leader so they don't have to put their stuff on sale. There was quite a bit of buying/selling Club Nintendo free game codes that came with people's Mario Kart 8 purchases.
