Call of Duty: Black Ops III |OT| No Content For Old Gen

I've been doing a dual-primary set-up that's been working really well for me. Having two primary weapons means that you can't pimp them out completely, but I haven't really had a need to add a bunch of accessories anyway. I used to roll with Kuda + Gorgon, but now I've unlocked Man-o-war and thinking of switching the Kuda to it.

oh yeah, i see swastikas all the time.

i see a lot of ejaculating penis emblems...sigh

I honestly haven't encountered either of these thus far.

Suppose I should consider myself lucky.

I despised both the maps and the movement system. Worst COD there has been, IMO, at least since the current COD days, (COD 4-now.) as I didn't play much of the ones before them.

It was a complete spaz fest, with people boosting everywhere, pretty constantly. I will never buy another COD featuring exo-movement again, if they ever do it again.

If SHG want me to buy their next game they need to do a beta and show it's not trash, there's no chance I'm going in blind.

Some glaring flaws that I learned:

1) Long Barrel REDUCES max damage range on shotguns

2) The KRM has to hit with all 8 pellets for a kill if you shoot them past a measly 200 units (practically knife range)

Treyarch clearly put no time and effort on balancing or even properly programming the shotguns.

How did you test #1? Pretty sad news if true. It makes me want to just permanently unlock the Argus and forget about the KRM.

#2 was happening to me and it wasn't surprising unless some pellets hit the head. They really want people to aim with the Shotgun rather than hipfire, but I would rather hipfire all the time... So much faster reaction with just shooting than Aim + Shoot. I guess I got some time until I hit my first prestige, so I will try out long barrel + laser sights soon. Would really rather get my Ripper than grab the Argus or Ghost.

I understand. I'm not saying they can't make a good COD game necessarily, but the movement system ruined that game.

The maps in Black ops 3 just shows how damn good treyarch is at map making. Even though there's a few I don't like. But that's normal for any game for the most part, probably.
 
One thing I wish COD would finally do is remove KDR tracking for non TDM modes

I notice domination is played a lot where people post their high KDR games

How do u guys like this compared to Blops 2?

I feel like map design in Blops 2 is pretty good. But I felt it was too small in Blops 3. Any fans wanna give me some insight?

There are certain design aspects that I miss from Black Ops 2. Vertical advantages mean almost nothing with the new movement system. There aren't many hidden areas (for the same reasons) like that balcony in the control room of Uplink (Black Ops 2 DLC map) that leads to the outdoor tower. Prone doesn't feel as useful (though I've definitely been surprised by smartly proned players.

And I really miss the crossbow, Tac-45 (or FiveSeven. The new semi auto pistol is kind of an amalgam) and Executioner (yes really).

Other than that, I think it's fantastic. A few elements of its design could use some tweaking (like progression rates), but I'm having a lot of fun, and I'm already looking forward to more maps and whatever else they throw our way.

The only map that I feel is really small besides Nuketown is Combine. Everything else is pretty well-sized.

intriguing. does this mean you can hack stuff through walls if you have blackhat? this could be a tide turner if you have terrible teammates who is getting your opponents a ton of kill streaks. not so usefully if you're kicking the other teams butt though :)

I don't have blackhat yet but this could be done in blackops 2 so I imagine you could do it here. Kill streaks it would destroy and stuff like trophy system and shock spikes switched to your side

Lol Metro must have been one of those maps that was supposed to get scrapped but somehow they forgot about it and left it in the game...

For sure. It may even be my favorite. BLOPS 1 was my favorite by far but I think this one may have taken the cake. I do want more unique modes. Treyarch has always had some interesting multiplayer modes but none of them brought in are new. They're all good, like uplink but there needs to be another captivating mode, akin to Gun Game.



Yeah, TTK in beta was way to fast but I feel like I've had more moments in vanilla where I've been able to get away or do a quick turn and kill the person shooting at me. I feel like I'm doing pretty damn well too. I used to do really well in blops and mw days but after ghosts and aw my K/D hit it. Now I'm back up to positive K/D and my W/L ratio is positive.

Also, would love to play with you guys! Can someone send me an invite to the group on PSN? Is there a GAF clan or whatnot? Wouldn't mind starting one.

I don't know what happened, but out of nowhere on Saturday or Sunday night I got gud. Really gud. Like averaging 2.0 K/D gud.

I'm having a ton of fun and I'm so happy because of it. I thought for sure if this game was mediocre or worse, I was finally done with the franchise. Gonna stick around til the next Treyarch game. It's like they got the great map design and tech from WaW and combined it with the fun of MW2, and sprinkled in some blops II extras and customizations. I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up surpassing WaW as my favorite in the series.

For the record I've pretty much only been playing MP, with a side helping of dead ops. Probably 1-2 hours for story and zombies.

at least in the beta, black hat took over most kill streaks instead of just destroying them. hence why people wanted it nerfed.

I dont like Combine because it definitely felt way too small and funneled

That one lane on the side without the floating wall... there's a crazy lack of breathing room because the spawns are literally outside of it

I liked the snow map.

Im playing Blops 2 now. The maps and spawning feel damn nice. I feel like there is a LOT of base spawning in Blops 3.

In Blops 2, the base areas feel large enough that you can escape and move forward

In maps like Combine, I could swear that enemies spawn camp bases as the spawn areas feel very constricted

Would you agree?

The fact that you can make your own path now instead of the lane approach before has made this alot more enjoyable and first cod in years I like outside of the launch window honeymoon phase

Jesus, this game has problems. I had a Dom match on combine where I was at the top of my leaderboard, but it felt that enemies where everywhere all the time. I look at the scoreboard and found the issue.

Our team had five players, their team had 7. That shit is ridiculous.

The matchmaking is very odd. TDM game started up and whole bunch of people left leaving four of us, start 2 vs 2, was a slow fun game and let me practice using awareness for the first time. Then halfway through I see 4 people connect but still only two marker on the map for our team. Of course we are now playing 2 vs 6 was only a few minutes left and we barely won but really odd match making over all.

Also what perks are most people running?

Also I much prefer BO3 to AW MP. There is no comparison for me, map design, character movement, weapons and connection stability have all been better for me in BO3. The exo movement just made the fights in AW too nuts.

SP I actually enjoyed what they did with AW and thought the game did a great job of jumping from one location to another and had a good amount of that COD cheese, BO3 feels really dull SP wise so far.

Some good maps in here. Although I wish Treyarch would stop putting containers or boxes or cars in their maps to block lines of sight. Make it more organic in the context of the maps. Placing what looks like a generator on a foot path in an exclusive resort in africa doesn't make sense. Neither do boxes or storage units placed in the middle of rooms.

Small gripe but on the whole they are fun.

AW's maps were mostly fuckin' trash, aside from Detroit and MAYBE Biolab
AW in general was actually pretty trash. Shit balancing, shit netcode, shit killstreaks.

Meanwhile, Black Ops 3 easily has some of the best content in the series. So far I like every map except Hunted, the guns are all viable (except maybe some shotguns), and the netcode is pretty damn tight.

For reference, I've played over 200 hours of AW's multiplayer and averaged a 1.3 K/D. This game so far I've put about 10 hours and I have a 1.2 K/D (but it's steadily rising), and I'm loving it just as much if not more than BO2.

Damn. Just had another imbalanced match. 6 vs.7. I was on the 6. I went 33-12 and we still won, but that shit is a pain in the ass. I don't remember that sort of thing ever occurring in past COD games.

wish they would just have more character/gun customization options instead of wasting effort on doing calling cards.

I feel maps like Combine didn't allow any kind of breathing room. It felt so tiny and I worry about the other maps. I liked the snow map and that other map with the waterfall/cave though.

Is Combine just not a good map?

As much as I have enjoyed MP this is one area I feel is really bad, as some of the calling card designs are just ugly!
Though if that is the worst thing to complain about so far I'm pretty happy :)
 
And with even ANOTHER Dom match where the opposing team has 7 players, I'm done for the moment. This shit is so frustrating. Even more so since it's happened twice on a tiny map like combine. Ughhhh. It needs to be fixed.

What mode are you playing? I was able to get mine pretty easy during a Hardpoint game on Nuketown. Try that game mode and just charge right into the Hardpoint when enemies are inside.

Unlocked the ICR-1 last night (I'm going pretty slow, just got to level 20). I actually really enjoy it, which surprised me, as I didn't like the Weevil due to its low damage per shot. The lack of recoil makes it an excellent mid-long range rifle, which is where I prefer to be since I suck all kinds of ass at close-quarters combat vs. shotguns and SMGs. Currently running it with a grip and a recon sight; feels good.

Like someone said earlier, Combine is basically the Nuketown/Hijacked of BLOPS 3. Small map that's designed for instant action. No other map is like it.

I got that in like 3 matches. Super easy, just Rambo into a bunch of enemies with it activated.

what fun are you using? maybe trying to hip fire with an smg isnt a good tactic to finish this one? that or i just suck and can never find enemies bunched up where i don't die quick because they concentrate fire on me.

just tried to jump on and it looks like only the PC servers are undergoing maintenance right now according to their platform status page. guess I will have to wait a little to play tonight.

It's easily worse than both of those maps though, in my opinion.

On another note, I also dislike the changes Treyarch made to Nuketown in the iteration in this game.

I was so upset that it was considered a standard map

The other two maps in the game felt much better to me.

Pretty much this. At this point SHG will have to pull off some kind of miracle to get me to buy one of their games. I was truly burned by AW. Never have I dropped a COD as fast as AW. Luckily BO3 has been living up to the hype so far, but I hope we never see any exos ever again in COD. That was just wrong in every conceivable way.
