Call of Duty: Black Ops III |OT| No Content For Old Gen

Finished the campaign tonight and it was by leaps and bounds the worst COD campaign, hope they never do this shit again.

What did you find in the campaign to be bad?

the missions? levels? A story, characters and overall narrative which wasn't clear? Lack of wow moments that's present in past COD games except
Ghosts

It's just a single burst per kill. All the burst guns are too OP.

What? XR-2 punishes you the second you miss your first burst or all shots didn't land. It also is one of the worst ARs to have in close range.

And the burst weapons being one burst kill is what makes them viable. Anything less and they are useless. They reward you for accuracy, but you can easily lose a gun battle if you miss, usually it being your first burst.

If you think the burst weapons are bad here, you probably were (or would) foaming at the mouth with CoD4's M16, MW2's FAMAS, BO1's G11, MW3's Type 95, and so on.

I honestly feel any nerf to the burst weapons is a crime when all shots in one burst need to land for a one burst kill. M8 is the only thing I can see getting toned down and it probably will be a range nerf if anything, but even that gun is fine.

So many lost connections, I'm lucky if I can get three games in a row.

Edit: oh wait I just had three in a row, of course it was three games that got to the loading screen then lost connection. Then I joined a game in progress, where there was an immediate host migration... Followed by a lost connection.

Ahhhh the Type 95, good times... good times :)

I hope treyarch don't go crazy (destiny style) and nerf what makes certain guns viable and fun to the point that they are useless.

I thought it was pretty terrible too.

Missions - uninspired objectives. Defend so-and-so while he hacks some terminal. Get to the extraction point. Survive. Etc. All really just blah, typical FPS objectives. Never any moments where I felt like "let's do this!"

Characters - none to speak of. Hendricks was a non-entity, his most memorable scene was him... eating a candy bar. Literally did nothing else interesting. Taylor was actually good but only because Christopher Meloni did the voice acting and he is incredible.

Story / Narrative - a giant mess. I REALLY don't ask for much in a COD campaign and they tried (and failed) to deliver so much more. Seriously - keep it simple. Set up a good semi-plausible villain and let me do some missions to bring his ass down.

Lack of wow moments - definitely. The only missions that were not 100% straight up shooting waves of enemies were the VTOL one in the desert refinery (pretty cool!) and the half-assed stealth mission in the cyberpunk city where it was basically a matter of the game being like "eh you can sneak if you want but we don't really care either way."

Levels - this is different from missions. I LOVED the levels. They all look astoundingly good and the aesthetic of the whole game is fantastic. Looks like a militarized, roboticized, plasticized future. Like District 9 meets Maschinen Krieger. Very cool levels and equipment designs. Just too bad they weren't used for any good set pieces.

I like the MP though.

Really? I mean I thought the last level was annoying but I thought overall the storyline was pretty good.

In the scrolling text before each mission, it's actually revealed that the player you are died after the 1st mission

I love the mode , but i loathe it in this.
Having UAV constantly on and showing where everyone is , at all times , is stupid as fuck.

It's apparently to stop "Camping" but it makes it easier...

Too bad , because i love the mode , but i really hate it in this game
UAV constant is on BO2 as well lol. It makes the game go by faster.

Feel the same, and you forgot the jarring transition from 60fps-30fps-60fps while from gameplay-cinematics-gameplay. Why was it this way?

gun game was the best in BLOPS1. no uav, and the fact that it didn't mess with your KDR was good. i miss sticks & stones and one in the chamber too

I use Ghosts, never have to worry about UAV again

Man, I wish Ghost would at least hide skulls when you kill enemies or not announce that the objective is being taken when you are taking a flag.

I am playing the egypt mission and the controls aren't responsive at all, massive amount of input lag while trying to move aim and shoot. What's going on with this game?

There's so much stuff tied to the black market. Kind of sucks because I don't wanna drop a lot of money for cryptokeys in the future. There's like 30 extra camos per weapon, heads/chest alternatives for each specialist, a huge amount of calling cards, and 10+ emblems.

Yeah it's been very difficult to get the game running at 60 FPS on my GTX 780. Had to settle for native res and volumetric lighting and transparencies off. Even then, I still dip well into the 40s for seemingly no reason at times.

It is a looker at times though, there's some amazing looking parts of the game.

what they should do is slightly increase drop rates for rare and higher for black market the more you prestige. would make it more enticing for people to continue that grind seeing as how getting to level 55 seems to take longer than previous games?

I agree with you on the gameplay of the campaign and I am iffy on the story at the moment- but I feel like the story will get a delayed appreciation akin to MGS2 as more and more details emerge. I don't think everything has been discovered yet.

Is it just me or does domination seem too easy for defenders and too hard for attackers?

Basically lose b and lose the game..

I don't know about MGS2 levels, but most COD campaigns seem to age favorably (except Ghosts). People claim to love Advaned Warfare now and it seems like it was just yesterday it was universally slammed by everyone.

I will admit though, I liked the VTOL mission and Lotus Towers following it. Pretty fun, classic COD action.

Well not MGS2 levels per se, but I mean it will be a similar situation. As you have finished the campaign, I believe you know what I mean in regards to the story itself.

i think you should get more cryptokeys instead imo

Zombies is slowly becoming better and better. I never messed with the mode before and had no idea it was so complex.

2 hours into the campaign. Is the whole campaign one lousy tutorial for multiplayer?

And god damn the game looks just like ghosts in split screen. Text is super small, not using the black space in any smart way, and the enemies are so hard to spot.

This game makes no sense sometimes. I can two-shot kill people from house window to house window on Nuketown, and get kills, but I just shot a dude with it twice at short range, got two hitmarkers, saw him flinch twice in the kill cam, and I still died.

What the fuck?

Yeah the small text in splitscreen pisses me off lol, please fix, treyarch! This isn't an issue because of tech limitations or anything.

Also in splitscreen mp, there's a really annoying echo/double voice when people talk sometimes and i have no clue what anyone is saying

So was looking at the map list and saw a map called Havok. I have 17 hours playtime and have yet to play this map, and have only played Redwood once.

I love how the B Dom spot in Breach is in a tiny little room. I'm pretty sure most of my 18 defends I had were from me sitting there with the Haymaker.

Why did they have to make the easter egg so fucking hard. Fuck. Just the fact that there seem to be more zombies than usual at lower rounds, its insane. Can't even finish the rituals in the first area, let alone getting on the train at all. My group of four doesn't stand a chance.

I love it still but god damn lol

Doing the camo challenge where I have to equip 5 attachments and a sight on the Argus... it's crazy good. No perks tho, so I get #rekt by stuns/explosives and the UAV since my teammates never destroy UAVs but the other team always does. Got 37 kills with it in one match, multi-kills with the Argus is a thing of beauty - love getting that quad feed.

Starting to wonder if Fast Hands and Quickdraw on the same class is worth it, or just have one over the other.

Also Ghost seems weird in this game, sometimes I just walk without aiming down sights with an SMG, and I'll be on the map until I sprint.
