I am trying so hard right now to get another overdrive double kill so I can be done with Ruin.

Of course I got them all the time before I had to do them...

How is this even a bad thing?

Someone on reddit made a good explanation:

Skill-Based matchmaking matches players together with similar score per minutes and K/Ds

The pro SBMM side looks like:

-Competitive players who are looking to improve in every game

-Who don't mind going harder every game.

-Say that the anti-SBMMers just want to play easy games, which is anything but the truth, but pro-SBMMers are the vocal minority so it's whatever

The anti SBMM side looks like:

-People who play casually

-People who don't like having to go hard in every game, aren't playing to improve

-Say that the pro-SBMMers are just too competitive

Albeit, the pro-SBMM side tends to lean more toxic because they can automatically claim that the anti-SBMM side is just looking to stomp noobs in pubs.

Some general considerations:

-Arena is the game type for competitive gameplay, not public matches.

-Connection should be the highest priority in online matches (especially in a twitch shooter like this one)

-This game was built as a casual shooter, which means a couple things

Map weaknesses are highlighted when the game environment becomes so competitive

Weapon balance weaknesses are also highlighted when the environment becomes so competitive

AW had SBMM and it's hailed as one of the nails in the coffin for that game and for the franchise for many players.

Play one game, and you will see.

Links on Reddit, and Vahn posted tweaks to Ps4 matchmaking, this has lead to assumptions SBMM is back.
When did this go live then?

I've been playing every day, including yesterday, and I haven't noticed anything that would tell me that

And also, what's so bad about hhaving some decent players, some decent teammates instead of noobs all the time?

Doesn't playing against someone your level make sense?

Isn't that what games in general tend to do?

I don't know how else you solve the problem that "my teammates always suck"

Good, don't need those kids who have no jobs or school and play COD 24/7 in our games going 80-5 cause they have nothing else to do. lmao

because only people without a job or anything else to do, can be good at cod..

what a fucking stupid opinion..

biggest problem is, that the match making isn't looking for the best connections anymore.

Yeah I mean, I would say the kids are the ones that go 5-30, yet I have a job and go 82-5 lol

I would say those that work are the ones who go ham lol

Drift0r did a video about this in AW and found that sbmm had little difference in connection quality.
Interesting

I mean, are there any real life stories of someone playing now and their experience being ruined by SBMM??

I just see people hypothesizing, but let's play and see how it goes lol

seriously fuck micro transactions. Cost them fucking nothing to let us have more than 5 out load spaces yet they are selling more for cash.

Is the silencer worth using on the gorgon?

It will likely have no effect whatsoever.

How many posts have we already had in this thread complaining about connections, now people have a scapegoat to blame instead of just "well I guess the connection is bad".

literally the entire front page of the blackop3 subreddit is rage filled complaints about SBMM, lmao

edit: apparently the first few pages,wo

people are very mad

Arghhh. Is it just me, or is it much more common to find like enemies rolling in pairs + triples in this game?

It becomes so hard to stay alive when I seem to encounter enemies and there are always more than 1.

I also don't think there's been official confirmation of sbmm, perhaps it's a mix of both

If someone didn't tell me it happened, I might not have noticed

Hm, so SBMM matches you with evenly skilled players?

And people prefer it if they get into lopsided/mixed games where they can get stomped, or get into games where they do the stomping? Are the people complaining the ones who hop onto COD just to kill some dudes/casual fun?

His palms are sweaty, hatr up , arms are heavy
There's wraps on the map already, salty tears
He's nervous, but on the surface he looks calm and ready
To drop cerberus, but he keeps on forgettin'

This is sweatier then a sauna, holy crap filling up buckets with sweat yo

Switched to bumper jumper, now I have to hit RB+A to use my specialist?

This is crap, I'm not sure it's worth it.

You get used to it. I was thinking the same when I first started using but it just feels natural now and I'm doing way better.

90% range reduction is not wort it on any LMG.

Why exactly is everyone up in arms about skill based matchmaking?

Pretty much, connection in all games is still fine. Its just the people with more time played wanting to stomp the newer players so they feel better since they can't do so to equally skilled players. The wanna look good on their streams and youtube videos. Best change to the game since launch.

Don't care either way about matchmaking as the connection quality cant possibly get much worse. I live in the middle of the fucking US with very good internet.

It seems like every game I get ping spikes from 100 to 200ms and know it's gonna be shit. Will never understand how 1 and 2 bars get the advantage, wish we had MW2 net code.

Yeah that's what it sounds like. I fail to see what's bad about this kind of matchmaking.

Weird this is when I got on this morning, lagged out of a game immediately so I decided to check my connection on my Xbox One and it said I was experiencing a lot of packet loss.

Tried again on BO3, and while it showed I had a shitty connection, I had some of my smoothest games. Now I'm wondering if every other player in the lobby was experiencing lag due to connecting to me, but I didn't feel all that bad considering some of the horrible connections I've had in the game.

As someone with a 2.30 K/D, 3.50 W/L, and 526 SPM, I can say that I'm arguably experiencing the SBMM the hardest. Honestly, for me it's not that I'm salty about not being able to go against noobs or anything, it's just that at my level (especially as a primarily solo player), every single game is an absolute competitive nightmare. The most I've been able to do recently is go even because it's like I'm going against six other versions of myself with as much knowledge as I have. That by itself is not bad, I like competition, but when EVERY SINGLE GAME is like that, it becomes frustrating and exhausting because I always have to give 110% while never getting any breathers. It's just awful for me.

Is there a guide for this? I'm curious.

Guide? You mean, how do you switch to it?

Just go into controller settings, and switch button layout to Bumper Jumper, it switches your jump and tactical buttons. There's also Bumper Jumper Tactical, which does that, and also switches crouch to your right stick, and melee to B(or square on PS4).

I don't have any packet loss either. If I run into a semi competent player and he has 1 or 2 bars I may as well play with my feet. They always get the drop.

Judging by the outrage on reddit, I'm guessing Treyarch will fold and listen to them.

If connection issue actually isnt a problem, it legimately seems that average COD players just want to ensure that they can run around and destroy very poor players just because it's more "fun" to get high KDRs and killstreaks as opposed to playing competitively where youre not constantly flying around the map like a god.

Is this not what's happening? I love it when I stomp a team, but I know that it's not particularly fair or fun to be on the receiving end. Doesn't SBMM remove this problem of getting onto teams that are lopsided?

This is the problem I could see with this

It does seem parties will be better now, and it could be a really big change for someone with this kind of high kd

The problem with skill based matchmaking in pubs is it limits the pool of players you can be matched with. As a player with a high spm and kd it cuts you off from half the games population. If you are a bad player sure sbmm is great for you.

Having good stats in advanced warfare was super frustrating. You have to only use the best guns and that's why the game devolved into everyone running the bal and asm1.

I find it ruins matchmaking for me I constantly would get matched with players in other countries in advanced warfare. It feel like you get punished for having good stats. I just want a lobby with local players and low ping. I could give a shit about skill.

Hmmm.. You have a point there

Will have to try it when I get home

It could ruin what made the game special

It really doesn't.

Because the pool of players is so much smaller the higher your k/d or spm, you'll continue getting matched with people who have average k/d or spm.

Sure, you probably won't be getting matched with people at .5 and lower, but how often does that happen anyway?

It's mostly a placebo effect.

I see. Good point.

I guess it makes sense to just leave things as they were. Actually, how about just balancing the teams?

Match any players together, but just try to balance out the overall teams so that one team doesn't have a bunch of new players while the other team has much better players
