They haven't said anything about it being limited, so probably permanent. Liking it so far... easy way to rack up score quickly.

Setting goals to accomplish and different challenges makes this game immensely enjoyable. I just got Diamond camo on the assault rifles and now I'm working on the Submachine Guns. While I'm doing those I'm also doing the 800 kills challenge for each Specialist and then after I get everyone's I'll go back for the weapon/ability armor pieces and then the hero armor.

I finished all of the feasible goals (100% challenges and Prestige Master lvl 1000 are too grindy for me), and now I hardly play the game. I really wish the new weapons were easier to get, but as it is, I'm no longer willing to be a slave to the RNG.
I guess it doesn't help that I got all that stuff done before they added most of the new weapons to the game.

I bought the MP starter pack for PC for the fun of it and in the standard playlist, people were just playing TDM, Search and Dom. No one playing KC or Hardpoint. I don't have the DLC on PC though.
Played last weekend and I didn't have any issues. Try wired as suggested.
I think the only option would be a powerline adapter

If you get only one of the three packs, you're going to severely limit your player base. CoD only matches you with people who have the same DLC as you do, and most folks either have all the DLC or none of it. Owning only a single pack is much less common.

The ninja defuse challenge is the dumbest thing I've ever seen in cod. Let's make a challenge where people will intentionally not take a clear shot but try and 'stealth' through maps that were never designed to make such feasible or plausible. Watching the last man alive try and do this and fail EVERY time is the most frustrating and dumb thing imaginable. How doing this once isn't a dark challenge or whatever they are called is beyond me. It is the one challenge that made me not even want to attempt 100% challenges.

It seems like it's about that time anyways. New COD is right around the corner. I'm personally just hanging in there to see the Zombie story finish and reach master prestige since I'm 10th already.
Plus, Summer is usually dry and fall kicks off a lot of other things like school and such.

I'm on PS4 too, and have all the DLC jumped on for some groundwar and of the population in the playlist 2% were playing! Normally it's around 7-12%!
Checked other modes and they were also very low.

I've also noticed lower numbers in many gametypes on PS4 as well. Even have run into the same people on different days sometimes.
Population is going to be significantly worse on PC. Especially with the DLC. Vast majority of people who play on PC won't have the DLC anyway.

Buy battlefields on PC, buy call of duty and battlefront on PS4. PC player counts drop drastically after a few weeks for anything but battlefield, overwatch, maybe rainbow six.
The tricky one now is Titanfall 2 - TF1 dropped hard on PC, but I... think? it might do better with TF2. I already pre ordered Infinite Warfare on PS4 though, it'll drop like a rock again on PC even with modern warfare thrown in.
and yeah I've noticed the twitch streams for BO3 also dropping hard in recent weeks, while it used to always hang around top 5 most nights, Overwatch has pushed it off and some of the people I follow like nicmercs are down 3-5k viewers from their peak of a few months ago. Be interesting to see if Infinite Warfare gets the hype built up again or not, especially with modern warfare releasing a month early (with MP or not though?)

It seems Treyarch changed the player count algorithm and playlist %'s are now as a whole and that's why numbers are low.
Idiotic move as people will now be put off playing low population playlists.

Everyone's playing Fracture since it's the new hotness and they have a glowing icon next to it from the main menu. Saw it at 22% earlier this week. Treyarch also said it's getting moved to the Core playlist in time for Double Fracture XP this weekend, so I'd guess Chaos Moshpit is coming back to the Bonus playlist in its place.
Player pop seems great lately, likely due to DLC 3 and all the new Black Market content. Only opened about 10 supply drops from the Cryptokeys I'd been saving and got a bunch of new stuff. The Epic Taunts are pretty nuts. Good to see them adding completely new concepts and modes to the game for free this late in the game's cycle.

Fracture player pop was low last night too. I thought everyone would be in there but it had 3% of the players when i was on last night.

My co-worker who is a hardcore Call of Duty PC player said that in Black Ops 3 on PC, the two released DLC maps are contained in their own playlists. So, there is an Awakening playlist and an Eclipse playlist. The Awakening maps have not been put into the rotation with the vanilla maps when Eclipse dropped.
So, the populations in those playlists are 0%.
Please correct me if I am wrong!
Oh, side question. How was the PC population in Advanced Warfare when those DLC packs hit? Just curious for a comparison.

This is unplayable tonight, people warping around everywhere, skipping animations, people skipping on the spot briefly, guns not doing anything and I get one shotted instantly when they aren't even on my screen.

Uninstalling this today from the Xbox. More weapons added that I'll never be able to play with... Shameful Treyarch. Just fucking shameful. Of all the ways to torpedo a game, lets go for the extra cash grab from those that have already spent $100 on the game+season pass.
Over 200 hours played and yay for me, I've got a fucking sword from crates. That's it. Thousands of cryptokeys... The bribes and bonus crates got brass knuckles and a worthless launcher. Wake up Treyarch... You are part of the problem...

COD 4 will be what I use to play MP on from now on, I expect that to have a healthy playerbase.
It's a shame because the core of BO3 is good, it's just a tainted experience.

Multiplayer maps are pretty nice IMO. I like the aesthetics of the new maps and they play nicely. I really wasn't a huge fan of many of the DLC maps for the first two packs though. I haven't tried the new Zombies map yet but it seems pretty thrilling. More of the same crazy, outlandish Zombies stuff, which is a good thing.
On a side note, been trying out Zombies as a newcomer lately, been hammering away at Der Eisendrache the last two or three weekends and getting more comfy with it. Managed to get all the bows upgraded solo for the trophy today, and tried to get the all zombies killed with minigun since I was in good shape to try and managed to knock that out too. Ended up wiping at round 42 because of sloppiness but it was a good time. Love the feeling of accomplishment with doing crazy zombies stuff. All that's left for that map is the main Easter Egg (died at the boss) and the trapping Panzer with the Ragnarok. Fun times and looking forward to trying the next two maps!

For me it's worth it for the remake of Raid alone.
They have kept it as true to the original as much as possible where its probably the most 'boots on the ground' map in the game.
Amazed.
I wish I was that good at the game. Regardless this is a perfect example of why I mute everybody as well as block everybody (beside friends) from sending me messages. I don't need people telling me or messanging me I suck at this game.
