Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 |OT| Got 99 Problems, But Sales Ain't One.

Some I played with from here last night had LT RT LT RT as actual buttons in there clan tag. Saw it for 2nd time tonight as buttons. Not sure how but it's dumb.

Yeah I started noticing a lot of jtaged names already.

Get your fucking shit together IW. 5 Games of the same series & every single one of them compromised in the first few days.

Okay this is officially my favorite CoD MP since MW1-WaW. Crazy I know right? I don't get what the haters are smoking. It's nearly 4am and I just signed off with my two close friends after putting in about four to five hours. We haven't had a CoD weekend like that in years. For starters, kill confirmed is just straight-up arcade kind of fun with Team Defender in close second. We haven't even touched search and destroy or domination and we're at level 40.

Secondly, the support streaks and whole point streak system makes it so much fun people like us who can't get a more than a 6 or 7 kill streak with the assault streak package. Plus it makes the streak system more balanced where the really good players are still going to get their attack helicopters and AC-130's, but the less skilled players can help with defensive stuff like sam turrets and advanced UAV's.

For me this feels like the perfect mix between MW1 and MW2 and what MW2 should have been. It's crazy because I was so not hyped for this game at all. I thought BLOPS was going to bring the MP back to being balanced, but I thought it ended up feeling more like MW2 and the netcode was horrible.

The game does look dated, I'll give you that. People have also bitched about the maps. I'll concede the maps are far from the best in the series, but I actually like the fact that they are so haphazard. There SHOULD be more maps where sniping and AR's are more viable I agree, but I'm liking the fact you can actually use an SMG or shotgun on nearly every map and still do well and you can't camp as well. I don't feel sorry for campers.

As far as the netcode, I've had virtually non-existent lag or any problem finding games and not being kicked from my party. I've heard people bitching about that, but I've had zero problem on 360. It's great because BLOPS was virtually unplayable the first two weeks.

not a fan of the support killstreaks. I feel if you die it should at least take a point away from you're streak, and maybe compound it for each consecutive time you die, ex: you die once, you lose 1 point, twice in a row, you lose 2, 3 in a row, you lose 3 points, but if you get a kill in between though, the penalty reverts back to 1 point for a death.

Or just take out all offensive killstreaks for support and bump up the UAV to a higher number killstreak.

Tried Specialist earlier, I don't understand how you can select your initial perks. And how the order of unlocked perks will go every kill.

1 kill will net you atleast 200 points btw.

You start with 3 perks (the ones on your loadout) then you select 3 perks that will unlock at 2, 4, and 6 kills. They're set sequentially so the first one you pick under specialist package is the one that will unlock at 2 kills etc. At 7 kills you get all the perks. Some people are claiming that at 7 kills you get all the weapon proficiency too but I have no clue.

I think the best 2nd slot perk is hardline since it'll allow you to rank up using assists as well as getting you free points after just one kill. I just put the perk that I would've put in the 2nd slot as my first one.

Do this: clear whatever perks you have selected for your killstreak rewards, then find the perk you want to have as your first killstreak reward and select it, then select the remaining 2 you want in the order you want them to appear. Rinse and repeat whenever you wanna select a new set of perks.

You can actually choose your perk..streak too. Like if you wanted, you can have the 3 streak of perks be in the first tier.

What I do is use hardline as my perk for that class, and then use Assassin as my 1st unlocked perk.

I don't know why you guys worry or get bothered about that. It's just placing certain letters on the tag, that the 360 (or PS3) automatically changes to symbols.

For the PS3 you need a USB keyboard, set the PS3 default keyboard to Dutch and then press Alt+1 or Alt+4 (forgot which). That way you can have the L3 and R3 icons to show up.

But really, that's actually even easier to spot when you're looking from far away, so eh...

This is definitely one of the worst COD games. The lag in the game is ridiculous. Hit markers on my side but in the kill cam my gun doesn't even let off one round. Maps are garbage and the spawn system doesn't help. I want to like the game so bad but it's just not fun.

Did you play black ops in the first couple weeks?

I don't really remember if I got BLOPS on release or not. That being said, I enjoyed that game for what it was.

However, these things shouldn't be broken from day 1 when you're on your 3rd sequel(not including Treyarch games). That's just sloppy on their part.

Funny.

This is definitely one of the best COD games. The lag in the game is bearable and definitely not as bad as BLOPS was during the first week. Maps are good enough as soon as you learn them and know how to get around them and for now I've only had one case of spawn kill after 13 hours of play. I like this game and it happens to be fun :)

Is it just me or are you leveling up far faster than you did in MW2? o_O At this rate it's going to be a breeze through the prestiges
I'm level 58 right now, but the max is 80 and after calculating right now, it says at this pace it will take me 2 days (playing 5 hours a day!) to reach Prestige 1 lvl 1. So it seems like the later levels will take longer.

Had a sweet game the other day:

Was trying to snipe for the first minute or so but these little bitches just ran into our spawn instead of trying to plant (Demolition), so I got pissed and busted out the PP90 and raged into their spawn for revenge. Got me some kills!

Team Defender is amazing absolutely crazy but oh so fun.

I like that the game doesn't help as much with your aiming as Blops seemed to do in Hardcore especially you have to be on point.

On the 360 it is because they are playing pirated versions. I saw a bunch last night too.

How's this game run for PC? I see the system requirements for the CPU and it says E6600, I take it this game relies more on GPU then the CPU? The PC I would end up playing this on has a kick ass video card but a few year old processor but still beats a E6600 by a bit... lol.

I guess I'm just asking hows it run compared to CoD4 the last Cod I played. CoD4 ran smooth for me, but dunno if I want to suffer a 20FPS MW3, I don't plan to upgrade for this game.

When the game first came out, I had like zero respect for Stalker and Marksman but I've started to love Stalker when it comes as part of the Specialist all-perks-package and Marksman is perhaps one of the most useful perks in CoD history. Soooo many kills I never would've noticed otherwise! Love just walking by some bushes and noticing a red name on the other side, putting my gun up and getting a kill where I probably would've died otherwise.

Marksman and Stalker are both great, powerful perks

Unfortunately they both fuck with me badly :(

Years of CoD play mean I'm attuned to a certain ADS speed with each weapon.

Marksman screws with me because red names register as priority danger targets - when they appear at a greater distance, it screws up my targeting. And they occasionally obscure your view because so many pop up at once.

Is there any truth to the game lagging or having worse framerate (basically performance problems) if you're set to 1080p as opposed to 720p?

After struggling pretty damn bad for 3 days and the beginning of last night, it clicked (as much as it could for me at least! lol) Went from a .68 to a 1.05. Doesnt seem like much, but in one night, considering the hole I had already dug for myself, it took quite a few pretty solid matches to get out of the red. Best games were 28-7 and 23-2.

And yes, finally getting to the Type 95 probably has something to do with it.

Replaying the campaign on Veteran, I love it even more the second time around.

The mission where you
infiltrate the sub (second mission I think)
really makes me smile. I wish they would release DLC content of singleplayer where you storm/infiltrate buildings etc, ala the original Rainbow Six games.

I had to stop playing the single player and take a break after that. Then I called up my friend and started ranting that the American Empire was trying to win the war on a budget.

On Console?

I always thought the wise thing to do in is, unless the game is native 1080p, Just leave it on 720p.

Lag is a lot worse since the patch and I keep getting put into games that are over within seconds of me joining them.

I'll say with a straight face that MW3 has the best SP campaign out of all the current gen's CODs. Had this silly grin the whole time I was playing it.

I've found it very hard to run and gun in the new MW3 maps.
I LOATHE supressors and thus never use them, but I find any time I fire my gun, I get shot in the back within seconds, if Im out wondering around.
Most of the time now, I try to defend small areas as best I can, without moving around too much. Not getting shot in the back, is my main priority when I do this :/

So i'm actually enjoying the MP and Survival Spec Ops. I've gotten used to the maps, and nothing seems horribly unfair or unbalanced so far. Lag has been minimal (PC).

Just got 30k XP in one go, was getting notifications for about a minute solid. Maxed SCAR, 500 kills with it, something to do with a Killstreak as well. Mental and so distracting watching how I'd accumulated the XP. It should all be on the post-game screen rather than just the unlocks imo.

I am on the fence of getting it tonight (got a free weekend and don't want to wait for an order) so ... question for German-Console-GAF: Is it possible to play the german version for 360 or PS3 with english voiceovers ? If both times "Yes" which would be the version to go for ? Xbox I suppose ? 3 hours to go, help a Gaffer out. :p

No joke, how do people beat these games in under 5 hours? I'm almost 7 hours into this one and I'm pretty sure I have at least one more mission to go.

It took me according to the main menu section of the campaign. 10 hours and 48 mins to complete the main campaign on normal. Some of the missons are pretty long.

I do often wonder if people play on easy then say they played it on veteran :D

I would return the question. Unless you're on veteran, if you follow the pacing of the game you'll breeze through the campaignin 5 hours: example.

Playing on PC.

Gotta be honest, I'm loving it. Feels really, really great. Think that might be because I took a year out by barely playing Black Ops. Returning to MW3 and I'm impressed.

I haven't played a multiplayer map that I hated yet, but alot of them are pretty forgettable from what I've seen so far.

After a few matches you start to get a bit more familiar with the maps i already have a few standouts.

Launch night i was very, underwhelmed but maybe that's because i was getting my ass kicked by people who by their high ranks knew where they were obviously going.
