I'm not getting the PP90M as much as everyone else.

MP5 is where it's at.

I haven't tried the MP5 yet, but I will later. The PP for me has been absolutely lethal, especially with rapid fire.

Yup. Expect rehashed maps from COD 4, MW2, and Black Ops and expect to pay full price for each one. Even though, we payed for these same maps back on MW2.

I actually prefer classic maps since its guaranteed i will like them. Also you play them with the mw3 tweaks.

Rapid fire and extended mags and it's like a laser gun.

What is going on with the hosting in this game? In MW2, when I lagged, I bring up the scoreboard, see which guy had four bars while everyone else had one, determine he's the host, and mark him as an avoided player so I never get him again. Easy.

In this game, you start lagging, bring up the scoreboard, and everyone has one bar. What?

You know what they should do, also someone please correct me if this has already been done in the past, but they should release DLC packs with COD4 maps as well as MW2 maps. And then allow people to check off all the maps they're interested in playing in, like a custom playlist, so you ONLY play in those maps.

Not only will it provide the developers with some interesting analytics to see what style people prefer, people will also get to enjoy only the maps they want to play on. And there are so many players that there will always be people playing on every map.

I seriously don't understand why this hasn't been done yet. Unless it has, then nvm.

Sweet MW3 tips! (from reddit)
3 UAVS at the same time from different people on the same team become Advanced UAV
With Color Blind Mode enabled you can see enemy Stealth Bomber

Sitrep will tell you if an enemy care package is real or not

You can level up your sitrep by deploying and then destroying your own Trophy System
On an enemy strafe run, shoot the middle helicopter to take out the other two. They will give you multiple points towards your pointstreak for each helicopter destroyed

Get Blast Shield Pro (immune to flash and stun nades) by blowing up barrels and cars while standing next to them

Turn off theater mode for less lag

Specialist killstreak + hardline = fast leveling up of pro perks (can get hardline pro in a few games)

When using specialist, don't have your original 3 perks include Sleight of Hand or Scavenger, but have them as your rewards since you won't need to reload or get more ammo until after you have already killed a few enemies

Shooting down air support, taking dom points, capture and returning flags, and assists (with hardline pro), all count towards killstreaks *Assassin will keep you from being seen by UAV/AUAV, but Blind Eye will keep you from being shot by helecoptors/AC130, do not confuse the two

Juggernauts have about 500 health, and can heal all of it back if they take no damage for long enough. They are NOT invincible, and can be easily killed with focused fire and surrounding them, 5 knives also does the trick. When someone has a jug on your team, let them enter a firefight first, draw fire, then you enter in and kill everyone doing the shooting

Bouncing Betties don't affect you when in prone, no matter how close you are. All weapons (at least ARs and SMGs, not sure about shotguns and sniper rifles) get an increase in idle sway the longer you aim down sight

If you clear all your Assault Killstreaks and use only UAV and hardline, you can get a UAV for every 2 kills. This applies to everything killstreak

Agree 100% I stopped playing the MP last night & had to literally force myself to finally play the single player, which is turning out pretty dang tight.

It's still just a rollercoaster of rehashed short scripting events tied together, but they are surprisingly well done & on-par with MW2. Nice graphics & sense of scale too. Unlike the clusterfuck of a multiplayer.

Everyone who hasn't spent their prestige icons yet, save them for unlock gear. Being able to use up to three or four unlocks after prestige helps a lot.

Good stuff but 90% of it was stolen from that one guy who posts the Youtube videos (unless he posted it onto Reddit) and about 50% of it isn't accurate or isn't optimal advice.

1) Don't clear your assault package. If you're using hardline it's -1 kills. If you have UAV in assault it's 3 - 1 = 2 kills. I guess if you get 4 kills with hardline you might choose you'd rather have 2 UAVs than a UAV and a Predator, but that's just not very smart especially with the prevalence of Assassin in this game...

2) Denkirson boys have claimed that Juggernaut essentially has 1000 damage but knives do ~250 damage.

3) When using specialist, I'd do 1) Assassin 2) Slight of Hand 3) Quick draw with your perks being Blind Eye, Hardline, and Dead Silence (or whatever else if you don't have Dead Silence). This keeps you from constantly getting shot in the back as long as you hug the walls.

4) Speaking of which, run on the outside of the map, but face towards the center. This minimizes your chances of being seen while maximizing your chances of seeing the other person. Only run when you're pretty confident you're safe or when you can run and still have cover.

5) I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere, but for guns with a first use penalty (i.e. when you FIRST bring up the gun it takes forever to come out because you have to flip it or just have this really long animation) as soon as you see the gun come out, hit Y, Y and it'll cancel your first use penalty. That video dude someone linked to above recommends doing it every time you die, but I run and gun so I die a lot and I'm just too lazy for that.

6) Riot shields are really weak in this game. If you want to use them, prepare to be frustrated. On that note, so are grenades including special grenades. I recommend flash grenades.

7) Shotguns are pretty much where they need to be. I have no issues with them. They're meant to be weak not "kill everything that isn't long range" (and sometimes even long range) strong. SMGs and Shotguns should have about an equal chance at close range with shotguns edging out SMGs the closer you get. They should lose to SMGs at mid range and get demolished by pretty much everything past that point. They're for better players for a big map or anybody in CQC. If you're going to use a shotgun, prepare to switch to your secondary for points on the map where you have to run in the open.

I'll be using my tokens on classes, I'm pretty sure. All the starting weapons are good, Assassin is unlocked fast enough and I can do without everything else. When I'm finally on 10th, though, I will want to have slots for all the various kits I want to have. It's gonna be pretty convenient to have one for each of my favorite assault rifles as opposed to having 2 AR classes where I keep switching out the weapons.

Thought if it was possible to unlock silencers for all weapons using one token (why not, really?), I'd totally do that. I have the worst time when I go loud due to my flanking playstyle...

That doesn't make any sense. "Obliterating anything within short range" is the exact definition of a shotgun - it's why it was invented!

Dead Silence is crucial if you go against players with headsets. Not necessary if you're playing scrubs or those who can't really hear the game. Assassin is 26 levels into the game. Unlocking those could be the difference between going 15-5 and 10-10.

Check if your connection is top notch; you need a good connection so you don't end clipping a guy point blank and end up with a hit marker. This can be done by wiring an Ethernet cable to your console and disabling Theatre Mode. You also want to join a match with low ping.

You usually want to have Assassin Pro as your Perk 2. I know it's no fun to have, but there are always UAV in the air and the Support Strike Package is very popular to use.

It's hard to hear footsteps in the game, even with Sitrep Pro. You could mute your TV and plug in your Headphones to a computer with Spotify; this way, you can listen to tunes you like. I'm not sure about you guys, but I play without sounds. This way, I don't concentrate on what I hear, but on what I see on the screen. My reaction time improved tenfold.

Avoid using shotguns and LMGs, they are severely nerfed from the prequel. They are decent only if your connection is great.

You don't want to join a Ground War match. Enemies will spawn near you more often than any other team game modes.

I believe I'm missing a lot of tips that could help you with a better experience with Modern Warfare 3. Feel free to join this discussion! :3

If I were to use a prestige token to unlock gear, whats the highest amount of gear I can unlock? I have already used 4 for extra custom classes.

Just the guns, grenades, perks. and other stuff in create a class. For guns, it only unlocks the baseline, not the proficiencies or attachments. I'm not sure if perks also unlock the pro, I THINK they do but I'm not sure.

Only one shotgun can beat SMG's and that's the Striker. Pump action shotguns need re-tuning in this game, the way you see them work is not how it is in practice.

Far (this barely exists in MW3)

AR>SMG
AR>Shotgun
SMG>Shotgun

Mid

AR<SMG
AR>Shotgun
SMG>Shotgun

Close

AR<SMG
AR<Shotgun
SMG=Shotgun

There are exceptions in each class such as the Type 95 for AR's and the Striker for shotguns, but this is how I see the weapons balanced so far. SMG's are the easiest and most effective weapons in the game while the 95 is objectively the best gun, stat wise.

Good edit-I was just going to suggest that you do this.

I haven't had too many issues with the maps so far. I haven't played a ton, but I'm liking most of them.

My opinion could change as I get more familiar with them though.

Some are good, but for the most part, a few of a shotguns need some buffing:

-The KSG-12 is currently just a pump-action striker, which makes it unusable unless you are great with shotguns and flanking (in which case you are better off using the SPAS12) when it should be designed as a pump-action equivalent to the ranger from MW2.
- AA12 doesn't carry enough ammo unless you have scavenger.
- USAS should fire slightly faster. As it is the full-auto is just a way to prevent you from firing at a decent rate.

SPAS-12 even without damage or proficiencies is currently better than smgs at close range. And while the 1887 is somewhwat inconsistent on 1HKs, it's damage dropoff to 20 instead of 10 makes it have very consistent two shot kills at close-mid range, especially with steady aim and range proficiency.

I've been using the 1887's rather than SPAS and lumped them both together. I forgot the SPAS is more consistent up close.

This prestige I'm going through the ARs so I'll have to formulate a better opinion once I go through all the Shotguns, but they shouldn't be easy like MW2. I think MW1 shotguns were pretty perfect and I really enjoyed the WaW shotguns as well. But I agree that the Striker is pretty good and that ARs are mid-long, snipers are long, SMGs are mid, and Shotguns are close. Oh and Riot Shields are trash.

Why yes, you could most certainly unlock Dead Silence for the rest of your prestiges.

You only have to unlock the gun once and its with you permanently. That goes for all of the other things in create a class(except proficiencies/attachments).

The shotguns in MW2 were broken but made balanced by the fact that they were in MW2. Putting them on here would have been funny, but that would have been too much for sure. As tiring as it is to hear, we just want shotguns to be consistent. As Test has said before, making it so the spread works as it did in Blops would be a good enough fix.

I can finally get into Elite!

...

But all the copy's in German even though I've got the US as my selected region.

Regardless, now I've got the Improve videos on constant loop to get my fix while I'm away from the console. Granted, they probably won't get me to change from my M4 or P90 setups, but it's good to know more about what others are using and why.

Wish there was an option that allowed you to put in which gun/play style you love and it recommended perks, or perks that you love and it reco'd a gun setup - so the whole thing is dynamic based on user input. Would also be cool to get live readouts of what the rest of the MW3 community is using - what's hot/not, etc.

It's a beast gun.. always has been.

Been my favorite since COD4. Hated MW2 for having it unlock on the last level.

I'm pretty bummed out that I spent my points on double xp. I didn't plan on doing prestige but the unlock gear made it a lot more interesting.
