I really suck at this game. I'm talking like 1 kill 20 deaths bad. Any advice on how to do better? Is it just a matter of playing the game more? Right now I'm at level 8. Any recommendations on what weapon I should be using?

learn the maps, know your hot spots, camping corners, ambush locations for triggered explosives. if you have quick reflexes and a solid connection you can run and gun. if you don't, move slower and be more tactical.

The game even FEELS different when you're host, like BLOPs did. There is CLEAR input lag when you're not host and 3 bars in this game is a death sentence and 4 bars doesn't mean a damn thing either because anything less is abysmal. Let's not talk about ground war, not even worth it.

This is a safe sequel. Safe sequels should IMPROVE on things like connection and lag, not be worse than the predecessors. People's standards are so low these days that if the game works, it's great. Unbelievable. This game doesn't even have the excuses like the maps being too big, or too many players, or the graphics are just too damn good.

If it's lagging all the time then I must be the fuckin best because I'm mowing people down with my ACR from the moment I join.

I really feel it's on your end since I have a pretty average comcast connection and I'm not experiencing problems.

the Russians gas a bunch of innocents and then invade most of Europe? There is no explanation to any of this. The invasion of the US had a really contrived reason behind it in the first place, but after getting their butt kicked out of the US, they go and start randomly invading everyone else? What was the point or goal to any of this? Also Markov's orginization is gigantic apparently, and must have tons of connections to the Russian military and be splinter group of it, but no one bats an eye lash when he was walking around killing people in the airport with no mask on and clearly video taped doing it yet they blame it all on a CIA agent? This huge sect of the Russian military is following a guy who was on TV killing innocent Russian civilians to create a war that served no real purpose or have any actual goal?

I think it's that the Russians capitalized off the attacks, since they apparently "weakened" the countries leaving them fresh for the taking.

For me, this is the part where the campaign just starts to fall apart. Everything afterward feels really rushed, like they put in different amounts of effort at different parts of the campaign.

Only run when you're sure nobody is around. Nothing sucks more than having an enemy get the jump on you mid sprint.

Work the edges of the maps, hallways, or anywhere else that you can keep the enemy on your level and in front of you. Running into open areas puts you at a huge disadvantage if anybody is in a window, prone, behind a car, etc.

Most importantly, try to have fun and don't worry about the stats. If you grind it out I promise you will get better.

very basic tips not that i'm amazing or anything but i usually end in the postive k/d

- SMG is the best starter class. use MP5 or the UMP , most maps are close quarters so there the strongest class at the moment.

- Unless you extreme close quarters burst fire, don't go full auto, it will increase your accuracy.

- walk, don't run, you'll take more of your surroundings in, when you rush you miss things, like the dirty camper behind ....everything.

- try to use silences, the maps are small and giving your position away can get you flanked from multiple sides quickly.

Only run when you're sure nobody is around. Nothing sucks more than having an enemy get the jump on you mid sprint.

Work the edges of the maps, hallways, or anywhere else that you can keep the enemy on your level and in front of you. Running into open areas puts you at a huge disadvantage if anybody is in a window, prone, behind a car, etc.

Most importantly, try to have fun and don't worry about the stats. If you grind it out I promise you will get better.

So far I've found hip firing to be incredibly hit and miss. 9 out of 10 times I die in that kind of situation and watching the killer's Kill-Cam shows them killing me by aiming down sights.

Set low kill streaks. If I were you, I'd concentrate on getting support packages. Play domination, and capture the first flag in front of you. That way, you'll be halfway towards getting your UAV, which will help you get kills.

For me, the UMP45 is probably the best gun in the game. There are so many up close and personal encounters, that you need something with a good rate of fire and does decent damage. The UMP fits the bill.

Use situational awareness. If there's a helo raining down death, either go inside, or put on a stealth class and shoot it down. Also, watch your kill cams. Maybe you'll get an idea of how the other guy got a jump on you, and figure out where he's hiding to get some payback.

Oh, one suggestion - if you're always dying by running around solo, try to stick with folks on your team. Safety is usually in numbers (usually) and having another gun next to you can at least increases your odds of staying alive.

Started the campaign yesterday. So far it's full of epic craziness just like I wanted. People have talked about how it is too linear without replay value, but honestly, this works for me. I view it as just a long interactive movie. I don't need it to be different every time I play it. I'll play it once for the crazy experience and then be done with it.

Also, just to be that guy: A lot of people are talking about how this should have just been DLC for MW2. Considering that it contains 16 maps that would be about 5 packs @ $15 = $75. Pretty sweet deal getting that, spec ops, and a new single player for $60. I realize that this argument has a ton of holes in it (separate stat tracking and whatnot, blah blah), but I'm just sick and tired of the complainers. Sorry, this has been beaten to death even though the game hasn't even been out for a week yet. I need to learn to ignore the haters a little better.

I mean, I am not doing bad, usually going positive, getting those tags, capping the flags etc, but I always get in the worst possible teams...

Does anyone else have the problem were the game will pause for up to a second while playing MP? It happens maybe 1 out of 10 matches. It will just turn into a slide show. I can't tell if it is effecting other people or just me as well. I've never had that happen with any game before.

Yup. More than a second actually. Funny thing is it got choppy one match when someone called in a chopper and smoothed out after it left. *shrugs* go figure

Knowing the maps is a big key. For me it's knowing what corners you turn with your gun at the hip and what ones are better to be zoomed in down your sights.
I'm happy with my positive k/d ratio on these clusterfuck maps at my age(old). I'd say it's mostly because I know where people are going, are at and will be spawning from. My aim is only getting worse so knowing these things helps so much in a game like this.

This is the kind of lag where you see a player on your screen and you are like "oh yea I got this mofo so you hit L1 pull up your sites and then the mofo shoots you dead in zero seconds flat and you are like WHAT THE FUCK I WAS JUST GOING TO SHOOT THAT GUY" and then killcam shows you that you never even lifted your finger .... your gun didn't even fire and the guy actually saw you well before you saw him and you got owned.

IS anyone else experiencing jittering when starting the game, even during menus on the 360. It's so bad that I have to wait for about 1 sec before a controller action is registered.

This happens randomly and quitting to dashboard and restarting fixes the prob

Aiming is soooooo overrated. I always tell my buddies who are newish to shooters that positioning and discipline are the two most important individual skills. You can have awesome aim but it won't matter if they get the jump on you, catch you sprinting, cooking a nade, reloading after 2 shots, etc.

Just had the most fun with this game so far, I urge all PC players to:

1. Go into Private Match, make custom classes (all the gear is unlocked)
2. Go into the server browser, find the lowest ping ones and add any decent ones to favourites (clan owned servers, ones without too much l33t speak)
3. When the P2P shitfest gets you down hit up your faves and see who's about

I admit it's a bit sparse for players but I see that increasing once people max rank, hit a great server with low ping and a massive rotation, we were playing Team Defender (loads of teamwork, guy was shielding me with a Riot Shield when I had the flag) and Gun Game, all sorts. Ran like a knife through butter, even my inept self did pretty well.

- If you want to die less you have to move less. Start out with an ar and just stay in a general 25x25 ft area. Not necesarilly camping, just keeping more on the defensive
- start at lower look sensitivity(around 2) and raise the sensitivity when you find that you are really comfortable with that setting and are ready to turn and look faster
- don't use a slow tv. I found that one of things that helped me the most was to switch from a nice look hdtv with quarter-second lag to an sd crt with no input lag. Input lag slows your reaction and makes you overturn which are bad for a game that reauires you to use pinpoint accurate iron-sights.

I definitely recommend trying out the PP90 class a bunch of us have been talking about with steady aim and sleight of hand (some disagreement on second perk). Hardline if you wanna do specialist, Assassin for support/assault. I recommend specialist though.

Also use the FMG9 over the Skorpion, much better I think.

So in the Prestige Shop, if you buy the "Regular Package" with one of your tokens from previous games, you get the Gold Cross emblem from CoD4 and some title. If you prestige before buying that package, does it become impossible to unlock that emblem?

What about when you buy the package after prestige? I assume you unlock the emblem for that prestige level and a relevant title. In MW2 you got those just by prestiging, so the OCD completionist in me is worried that if you don't use your prestige token on each of those, they'll be impossible to unlock later.

I have been using both. Whenever I use Quickdraw, I feel like I'm about to be stabbed in the back at any second with all the air support and such. I do love the quickness of Quickdraw though.
