Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is coming to Xbox Game Pass July 24

The campaign got a lot of flack at launch, but I enjoyed it quite a bit, much more than MWII's campaign, and the mission where you go up the building with Gaz is probably my favourite in the entire franchise.

Edit: also the menu is easy once you understand that you are launching what is essentially a launcher.
the first thing you see are last played and recommended (new) modes, so if you played small map moshpit last, it will be right there, then you go down to MWIII and see the modes it has, MP, zombies, ranked, campaign.
then you go down again for warzone and its modes, then MWII, and then "legacy" games, which don't use the CoD HQ launcher.

Once BO6 launches, MWIII will move down to the second spot and BO6 will be the first option. Actually, I think MWIII will be in the third spot, Warzone always seems to be the second spot.

I think I'm good not installing it....
Look for the "Call of Duty" game. It let you install only base + MWIII.

Run into my first group of suspect players

All already mid level 900s with those hexed letters in their entire name and just eating 2 lobbies I was in alive

Running Around with Nuke skins and Shipment was over in no tIme, I think we barely scored 20 points

Now I know they are great players and a group running together can sure make life rough but second map was grow house and the one dude named aids something jumped off the ladder and lasered 3 of us before he landed

If they are in fact that good wtf am I doing in their lobby

Bam! Finished the campaign. 7.5h total. I really enjoyed this, much better than expected, I'll go through the next one too when they add it.

Got past the helicopters. I was taking it way too seriously and trying to stealth it all when it doesnt seem possible. Beat it first try using some vehicles. Next mission looks totally Metal Gear. Having fun. Game is definitely cool.

The deep cover mission seems broken as fuck..

I decided f it.. I'll watch a YouTube video to see what I'm doing wrong. On the videos it looks like they just waltz in undetected following the same path I am.

No matter what I do they just up and shoot me out of nowhere. WTF

Are you at the beginning? You're not holding a gun? I just walked, slowly, and no running or jumping, with some distance to approaching enemies. Don't know if it was needed but I faced a different direction when walking past them, tried to be on the different side of the road or behind vehicles when possible.

When I came close to where I should go they said on com that I should find someone with a keycard. Found a guy walking out the doors. New save point. He's walking up some stairs into a building. There is a soldier inside so no real safe zone. I went fast up behind him and just as he turn at the top of the stair and walk into the building I threw a knife. Then fast up to the soldier inside, another knife. Picked up the first guy's keycard and went to the building where the keycard was needed.

Guys, this campaign really is trash. I'm a little disappointed.
This is a great thing to hear.

Because it lowers expectations! I almost didn't bother playing it because I'd heard this so many times, it was actually a bit of a surprise how polished the opening mission was. I've done the next couple too which are less good, but thus far, I think it's entertaining enough - though I've never really loved COD campaigns, so YMMV.

It's really just war zone maps. :messenger_loudly_crying:

Played the opening.. I was on the container mission when I turned it off . It was great so far.. I don't play cod games like that so it could very well be trash by others standards.

Guess I should get back to trying this. I booted it up and it asked to log in to or create an Activision account. I immediately quit the game not wanting to go through all that crap. I just didn't want to deal with it, I just wanted to play

Yeah, I think that might be the difference, if you're a fan of the other games, it might be disappointing.

I found the helicopter mission quite reminiscent of MGS5, tbh. Obviously less stealthy, but not necessarily worse. (I also didn't love MGS5).

I personally never understood the hate for the MW3 campaign. It was a good mix of standard corridor and mini open levels, and was fun to play.

Unlike the MW1/MW2 campaigns where you were crawling around houses as kids. Absolute shit! 😂

I cleared the campaign and thought it was most excellent. Especially the Oligarch, and High Rise levels were really good. The open combat missions I like those because they let you find different weapons and gadgets, and routes through the maps.

I havent played a CoD since MW2, so it was both a blast to see some of the characters again but also a bummer that they (major plot spoiler) murdered one of the main characters.

Maybe if they just got rid of all skill based matchmaking completely, and went back to grouping completely random players on their closest servers, folk would start enjoying this properly again? I'm totally fed up with the getting walloped for 5, then walloping for 5.

Yeah, it seems like old fans goes "meh!" and new players goes "Huh this is actually great!".
Last one I played was on 360 launch… I realize I have a lot of catching up to do.
What's regarded as the best game in the serie? Campaign only.

Didn't realize it was this much stealth. That's my most positive surprise. Plus the shooting just feels great and the weapon variety is fantastic. I like the mission variety too. Would've rated it high for sure.

Only mission I truly disliked was the one where you're support up in the sky. Just awful. 500% increased latency and often can't see what's going on until it's too late. Too many deaths there and zero fun.

This is why I'll stick to the single player, some players take CoD really serious and then you've got the cheaters on top.

Played a quick match online. FFA. Was top 3. I dont like the movement/swaying. Shit is weird. Also fuck all those menu's. Might delete later.

I've played it online every day since it got added and felt pretty underwhelmed at first but it's already clicking with me. Worth persevering for a few hours over a few days, imo.

Despite the aim assist levels and aggressive matchmaking, this is still an incredibly good shooting game… of course it can be better, I prefer certain aspects of CS and most certainly will take quake over both, but this is very well done for what it is.

It seems the biggest console problem for cheating is called spoofing where the cheat engine tricks a console only lobby into thinking the PC using the cheat is a console and allows them into console only lobbies

The "good" cheaters don't make it as obvious to try and fly under getting reported but those guys yesterday were getting reported left and right

I will also add the people at Acti also know SOME of the top streamers have "help" enabled at home but its great advertisement when your favorite streamer keeps dropping huge kill numbers and wins Warzone a lot

This really shows up when those streamers show up at events like COD Next and are not even competitive against some of the truly talented COD players

Must have been a bad quick save or something.

When I restarted the mission from the beginning it worked fine.

Yeah this mission in the tall grass is sick. Switching to the drone then back is awesome.
Yeah probably my favorite in this campaign, felt like MGS, I nearly cleared the whole map before they found me and all hell broke loose.

There is another one later that I think you'll enjoy too, very different but awesome, you're ascending a wrecked building and it's just super offensive and you feel like you're John Wick or something.

I will say that occasionally there are some strange choices. I'm running to close these blast doors and they want to put 10 guys in the way. If you try and kill them it takes too long. If you run past them it literally doesnt let you close the doors because it says enemies are too close? What? And this armored guy just takes 5 full clips and grenades without flinching. I feel like I'm clearly missing something here.

[EDIT] I got it. Just so weird that you have to kill enemies a building away before you're allowed to pull the switch.

Fired it up last night, as I hadn't played a COD game for years and fancied trying out the campaign.

It took me AGES to find the campaign menu! After loading the game, I was inundated with so much crap and then trying to hunt around in the bloated menus for the campaign was a nightmare.

Who the hell thought this was a good idea?

Another good stealth mission. The scene on the plane was pretty cool. 🤷‍♂️ the other ones must be amazing for how much people talked shit on this one.

Haha I know exactly where this happens, the juggernaught, I died like a thousand times there. I blame myself for being a fps noob.

Same thinking here. I guess it's like how some feel about Assassin's Creed or FIFA or even Souls games. Too many games in too short time period with samey gameplay.
Just enjoy! I assume the plan is to have them all on Gamepass. Can't wait! Sometimes it's good to be late to the party 👍

Question to old COD fans.
Mission spoiler ahead…
Is the airport mission in MW3 a throwback to the much talked about terrorist attack mission in a past game where you played as the terrorists?
If so, were you shooting not just civilians but this crew of soldiers we play as in this game?

Keeping thinking I should download, but don't want anything to pull me away from Elden Ring. Backlog continues to build up.

Is the zombies mode good? I've never tried it before.
My friends and I were big zombies fans in WWII & Cold War. The zombies mode here is more like DMZ + zombies, if you ever played DMZ in Warzone. It was pretty fun, but I would've liked to have both it and another zombies mode that's more linear and defense-based, rather than offense/extraction-based.
Does this have a single player campaign or just MP?
Both.
What's regarded as the best game in the serie? Campaign only.
For me, Modern Warfares 1 & 2 (2007 & 2009?) upon release were amazing. But Infinite Warfare is seriously good and stands apart from the rest for trying something very different and actually pulling it off (except in terms of fan feedback and sales).

No, it's a remake, the old games aren't related to the current story.

Hot duckets! I'm not sure how I missed this, but it looks like my patience is finally being rewarded. I've never played a CoD game before, but I'd really like to play through some of the campaigns.

I've been waiting for the games to drop on game pass, and it looks like this one finally did. Unfortunately I'm traveling over the next week and a half, but I'm definitely gonna play this when I get back.

I have the option to install what seems to be the MW2 campaign too. Is that game on game pass too?
