Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is coming to Xbox Game Pass July 24

Haven't really played COD since BO2. Holy shit this is bad. I have to go into a CoD app to then go into the game I want. It runs slow and shitty and the menus are filled with shit I do not care about. This is awful. The game may be good, but just getting there is awful.
Yeah the UX is fucking terrible in more recent CoD games. All the random pop ups for MTX and other garbage, puts me right off.

10 out of 12 of the reactions of his post have a laughing emoji. Prediction or not, it's stupid asf and a fanboy fantasy.

When you post sounding like a mega shill, don't blame others for laughing at you.
Or the laughing emojis are fanboys?
Why not retort with something to counter this? Oh wait it's GAF, better to do a funny gif or laughing emoji

I'm talking about MW2, now MWII.

You do know that the launch maps in MWIII are all from 2009's MW2, right?
I see, sorry you were not very clear, probably the games fault. What with all the 2's II' & III's

We had that playlist when it came out. its long gone.

Not on MS Store and Xbox app.

Nvm. You can. Found it.
For anyone else struggling with the above, its not clear. Click Manage game instead of install.

You need to try to install "Call of Duty" for this option. If you go directly to MWIII it will only let you install the 217GB.

The App/store is fucking shocking. If they want to grow gamepass on PC this is their main obstacle. Shift everything over to the BNet client and stick an xbox skin on it, or copy Steam, anything but what they have.

I'm really starting to get used to the pace. I played a couple of matches via remote play on my break and did ok. I went from 0.5 k/d ratio to above 1.0.

First time I've played COD since the original MW3 and I am getting absolutely wrecked. People be sliding everywhere with weird as fuck looking guns and swords.
Yes the sweat is on another level now. Try playing domination for a while.

Skill based match making gets worse the better you get. I miss being a noob. I only play ranked now, it's pure crack but damn I swear everyone that's better than me is cheating 😂

Matchmaking is shit. I'm still in matches full of level 300+ players that have insane post game numbers.

Ranked is the way. Every game is sweat city but better than the alternative.

Does anyone else really like the cell shaded maps?

I feel like I can see much better on them, I really like them personally

I havent had a chance to try them out yet, my son roped me into finally beating the Destiny 2 Final Shape campaign first haha

Will report back once i can check out the cell shaded stuff, i am very much looking forward to them.

I really need to learn these maps. If people aren't hyper sprinting and sliding, they're camping in spots I didn't think to look. But my play is getting better.

I am one of those guys who walk around aiming down my sights most of the time in any hopes of fighting back from those slide canceling bunny hoppers running around the map like a Hummingbird on crack in a shoebox

Yeah that's exactly what I mean. It's overwhelming. I mean I figured it out, but there is so much shit I just do not care about. I just want to open and play the campaign for 1 game LOL.

I have not played a Call of Duty game in a long time. I no longer have much time for multiplayer, but I do have fun in their campaign's. They are like dumb, popcorn movies to me.

Anyways, yesterday I go to install COD around 3:00 to have it ready by time I was done with work and doing errands. Ends up it looks like I had installed COD Modern Warfare 2 a while ago during a free weekend or something, but I never played it, but it was on my external drive. Cool, I thought, less time needed to download. I started to move that over to my harddrive and once done triggered the download for the new one on GamePass (I discovered the old one was on the harddrive due to originally trying to download it it said it needed to be moved or something like that). Anyways, moved over and told it to download all files. I just wanted it to download everything and then I could remove what I didn't need.

I got off work, ran some errands, did some yard work, and thought, cool I now can play some. Went upstairs to my media room, booted it up and then got a bunch of crappy videos/ads for stuff I do not care about. Then I got on the mess of an interface, thinking I was ready to go, and nope: I needed an update. WHY THE HELL DIDN'T THE UPDATE INSTALL WHEN I INSTALLED IT?

I waited around 30 minutes for the update to complete. I boot it back up, and now more annoying ads. I get to the interface, trying to find my way around this mess. WHY THE HELL DO I HAVE TO INSTALL IT THIS WAY? I just want the game. Anyways, I finally find the campaign, AND THE DAMN GAME SAID I NEEDED TO DOWNLOAD IT!!!!

I was pissed.

I triggered the download, waited another 30 or so minutes, and relaunched. Once again, dumb annoying shit about a battlepass or whatever. I just want to get to the game dammit.

I finally get to play, played for around 45 minutes and realized what time it was. Had to stop so I can go to bed for work today.

Such a bullshit experience.

Playing the campaign, its pretty fun. If they just get better then I'd have no problem running through these for a short action game. Shooting definitely feels snappy as fuck. Couple really slick things I never have seen before was being able to click left stick to hold the gun sideways to aim without the scope or switch back easily; and then I love how you hold LT to aim and when you reload you keep the gun held on your target and reload smoothly without it shifting. Looks really slick.

Thermal sights that you can toggle? Slick lol. It is cool how many different guns there are already.

Just got the gun you can mount on corners and railings. I realize this is probably old news to literally everyone, but that is cool as hell.

Im not really understanding this Price mission where you blow up 3 helicopters. Seems like they want you to be stealthy but that seems impossible. And I always blow up 2 and then the 3rd just has a whole army next to it.

I liked one with a bunch of shipping containers.
based shipment, they might '24/7' it starting with season 6 like they did with MWII, it's literally the only reason I still have MWII installed.

I looks nice yes, but it slows your reload by quite a bit and can make a huge difference if you ever decide to play MP.

Played for 3 hours, Haven't played a COD since the 360 launch, so can't compare to anything recent. I can say this, I'm enjoying this far more than I expected. To the point that I'll gladly go through the campaign if they keep giving me new CODs through Gamepass.
The shooting is really satisfying, I like the stealth too, feels awesome to crawl in the grass and slowly pop enemies with a sniper rifle. I'm positively surprised.

Yeah I gave up and went loud quite fast. There was lots of C-4 so I think they wanted you to use that, but I never did that. Closest one had so many soldiers, I escaped with a vehicle and drew to the other side of the map, slowly worked myself to one of the other choppers. Found a rocket launcher a blew up the first one, eventually took a vehicle with a mounted gun to blow up the rest. Don't remember if something out of the ordinary happened on the third one. Was so chaotic. Unless I mix up the missions there was one following me around, showed as a red heli on the mini map, might've been a 4th one.

I have to say that the install process was complete bullshit.
I have no idea how much data was installed but it took forever and I got a bunch of black ops 6 icons I never chose to install, then I had to create an Activision account and to get 2FA there was a janky process of using Edge on console and it didn't even work I just got timed out at the capcha phase, eventually I logged in with the Xbox account, when I finally had everything set up and thought I could play it the campaign wasn't installed and I had to wait even longer.

It was definitely bullshit, but at the same time kind of impressive bullshit. It's like a whole world in there. Felt like there's a dozen modes, 2 campaigns? I saw a MW2 campaign in there somewhere, stores. Definitely going for the metaverse vibe, which I'm sure is disorienting by design to keep you in there like a casino. I'm surprised there isn't a tab to watch Commando and First Blood streaming.

I don't know I just wanted to play the campaign, all the store fluff and million modes was just in the way of getting to start the game.

Really liked the gameplay though. Have you reached the mission where you're told to crawl in the grass and reach an underground silo?
Absolutely loved that mission, felt like playing Metal Gear Solid, did a lot drone work tagging enemies and observed their behaviour. Alarm went off by the end and then I was Rambo but most of it I was a ninja. 🥷

Totally, I had the same opinion on the menus. I just meant, you can kind of tell the purpose is to keep you disoriented and locked in. It's by design. Not good design, but on purpose.

I turned it off after dying a few times trying to get to those helicopters, so I'll just go ham on it tonight and try to go in guns blazing or find that vehicle you mentioned. So far, as someone who has never played this series, I was having a blast honestly. The feel of the guns is fantastic, and it does have the metal gear / tom clancy vibe. Going to try and finish it this weekend.

It's neat seeing all the little touches they have that I'm sure are old news to everyone. It's cool how they animate switching to the handgun, with your rifle just kind of barely off to the side. It's cool how there's sub functions like a shotgun on the rifle if you hit left on the d-pad. Lots of attention to detail.

I didn't know it was possible to have not played CoD. It's gotten stale for many; I think I noped out of this campaign after 15 minutes. But if I had managed to avoid CoD entirely, then yes, almost any CoD campaign released in the last decade would blow me away. Well, maybe except Vanguard.

I still haven't played GTA V either lol.

Same opinion here. I've avoided the IP for two decades but I thought when I get it for free then I can try it, not interested in multiplayer but playing through a campaign is a lot of fun. Don't laugh but I get Golden Eye vibes from it! Linear in mission structure but still open in how you approach things, lots of possibilities.

Had to tweak the settings by the way. I was going crazy over some visual help, where enemies were all red. Destroyed the visuals. I'm a total rookie on fps so probably some default settings for people like me. Went into the menu to deactivate that. Looks really good now.
