I was out for my evening run (6:00pm - 7:00pm) and as I was returning on the last 2k towards home I pass the entrance to this condo highrise and outside is some guy kicking the shit out of this girl.
Now, I NEVER wear my glasses when I run as it gives me crazy head cramps if I do. I run back to try to see exactly what is going on and sure enough the guy is laying the boots to the girl.
I frantically look around for another person and a woman is walking the sidewalk so I run up to her and ask her if she has a cel phone and sure enough she doesn't. I then run out into the road and flag down an SUV, who sure enough doesn't have a cel phone either. This is Vancouver, EVERYONE has cel phones. I felt like I was in bizzaro Vancouver.
I then look toward a nearby cornerstore and there is a building manager outside it calling it in, but oh so fucking slow. I rush into the store, ask the guy working there for a phone and dial 911.
In the mean time people are walking in and out of the store like nothing is going on outside. I hang on the line and give the 911 operator the low down as I can see it, which is very hard given that I don't have my glasses. They get the details and have sent the cops.
Seeing as though there is no way in hell I could actually make out the assailant and victim I'd be pretty useless as a witness but luckily enough there were a few witness who saw it and the fucker was dumb enough to be beating the girl up outside of where there HAS to be a security camera.
What I couldn't fucking believe is that the girl was there taking the beating when she could have just bolted inside the convenience store which was seriously 10 meters away.
You sure don't appreciate cops until you need them. After the cops showed up I think the two of them continued to have it out down the street a bit so I pointed the cops in the right direction.
