Dead Space Remake and then Cronos.

Cronos for bringing something new like what DS did back in 2008/09. But Bloober had a tighter budget and it shows.

The Dead Space remake was just chef's kiss, a slight disappointment would be that it's too 1:1, than taking risks like what RE1 Remake did back on the Gamecube from the PS1 original.

Callisto is not even in the same league as these 2.

They are different enough not to put one above the other. Callisto was awesome, minor issues, but sadly they won't continue. We aren't even getting DS2.

I played callisto to completition, same for ds remake, played like 4-5 hours of cronos until the second boss, for now dead space nuke both from orbit and it's not even close, especially callisto that is especially shit.

I heard cronos is great but the first 4 hours are nowhere near the first 4 hours of deadspace quality wise so i guess it gets MUCH better later or i don't know what people on gaf are smoking but i want a part of it.

The core gameplay is what makes dead space dead space.
And it is far more advanced than anything resident evil has done lately, strategic dismemberment with multy-layered skin system is definitely more original than headshot hunt, not sure what the fuck is he talking about about feeling old when he is ok with the shitty shooting of the past 2 main RE...

Not at all. The changes to zero G sections improve immersion as do changes to story. The changes to level design improve progression and backtracking. The changes to secondary fire make weapons other than the plasma cutter useful and expand strategic options. Even the upgrade system is better.
Suffice to say we disagree on pretty everything here (except maybe the upgrade system) but especially the story/character changes, I wouldn't mind retcons normally, but these just make everything worse, especially characterizations of Isaac and Nicole.

Recently replayed both DS and Callisto. DS is the better game by a long shot.
The graphics of DS are still very, very good. I found them more appealing than Callisto (with RT enabled).

I'm working through Cronos now and have completed the other two. I'd say Cronos and Dead Space remake are tied. Both are fantastic. Callisto was fine. It looked great and the gameplay was fine, but the story didn't grab me in the same way Dead Space and especially Cronos did.

Yes but that's also why dead space is dead. It was always a cult hit and just couldn't reach mainstream like resident evil because the core loop isn't good enough.

And i say this as someone who adores ds2. The series simply failed to evolve and the remake stayed very true to the original.
DS3 did evolve......backwards into the sea.

I wanted to love Callisto Protocol I really did. I have to play everything on the hardest difficulty because im an idiot. Callisto became an absolute slog. Id spend 5 minutes hitting the same enemy with my stick. And I would do it again. And again. Real shame. I gave up.

I did not play Cronos, but I have a hard time seeing how it can be better than Dead Space. Callisto had some good moments, but lets just say I would not go back to replay it anytime soon.
It is not better than dead space, but it is very good imo, and it's an interesting and original IP, so should win on principal vs a remaster. Dead space remaster is riding on the back of a giant…it's cheating, id always take a someone taking a risk on a new IP over retreading old ground, even if its "slightly better" overall.

haven't played cronos yet but dead space for sure
don't think cronos would outpace it
dead space is just a beast, unrivalled in its own specific niche

Haven't played Cronos.
But between the other 2 it's Dead Space and it's no even close.

Callisto is one of the few games I dropped this gen. Just found the combat insanely boring.

How about the original Dead Space instead of woke space?
Out of curiosity what makes the Remake "woke"? I played the remake and nothing jumps at me as "woke".

Then again I might no longer understand "woke" means in context of how GAF use that word.
