So I'm trying to change the homepage on IE on the new Win 8 tablet, turns out the only way to do that is to go into the desktop mode...why would they design it like this? I'm really trying to use the metro interface but this shitty design makes you go into the desktop mode for every little thing.

go to the site you want, pin it to start screen, done! now use your new tile to start browsing. no need to go to desktop.

the idea of start screen is simplicity of the interface and not having various menus and options, not excusing some of the apps and their bare bone functionality though. but you can do a lot of stuff that there isn't an explicit option for it with tiles. it's not supposed to work like a desktop app.
