It seems like the internet quacks out there have exhausted the market for penis enlargement, so these days I'm bombarded with banner ads for height-enhancing "natural" products.

http://www.heightmax.com/testimonial.htm

Is it even remotely possible for these things to work? Does anyone have any experience with similar products?

I'm not a mega-shrimp or anything (5'7"), but an extra inch or two might be a nice way to expand the pool of girls I can date (since so many seem to want guys that are at least 2"-3" taller). I'm super-skeptical as always, but I might as well look into it now since it's supposedly only going to work when taken prior to your 26th birthday (I turn 25 in a couple months).

I'm 6'4" and I think I could stand to be a bit shorter. I'd happily give you some of my height, but I need somewhere to host it. :P

I'll trade with you. You be 6'1" and I'll take 6'4".

As for you, border, you're short. Deal.

Border.. here is your best bet..

buy yourself a really hot car, go to the gym become really cut and then act like an asshole all day long.

It must work, why else would so many short guys do it?

bodybuilders and gay men use HGH to increase their buttfucking potential, but you're not going to get any taller after you hit 21, sorry.

Just thought I'd add a visual aid...

Most stop after 21, I think I heard that you CAN grow up until 26, but its pretty rare.

I actually put on another inch when I was 21 as well.. I was sitting at my friends house one day and my legs started hurting like hell.. the pain was odlly familiar.. and it suddenly hit me.. growing pains.. I was pretty pissed. I thought I was through with that crap.

Age doesn't really play a part in when you stop growing, it's when the ends of your bones fuse together closing the part from which they extend from during growth.

And it's true about HGH being able to increase a young adults height as long as it's taken before the bones fuse together. (which depends on each individuals own body, but usually close to the age 21 +/- a year or 2)

& btw, HGH is taken as shots, and I believe, but I'm not positive on this, but I'm thinking it's an every other day shot, which is enhanced with insulin and high testosterone levels.
*Never ever play with insulin unless you're a diabetic considering the chances of your own bodys ability to produce it may not start back up after using it. Pro bodybuilders are nuts if you ask me, they take too many health risks.

DJ Sl4m is correct. When your bones have fused you will no longer grow. A good way to find out is if your pubic hair forms an upside down triangle shape.

Cue dog in grinder WHAT pic.

I'm pretty sure doctors can increase your height by breaking your legs and keeping them seperated so that they end up growing toward each other and giving you another 1/2 inch or so.

Same here and I sort of agree. It's a bitch sometimes, but one positive is it makes you look less fat than your weight says you are ;)

which also sucks because im a little underweight.

A bit drastic, no?

Nah, saw a story on this once. It's a slow and painful procedure, but it added a few inches to the height of this girl who wanted to be an air hostess. Had to learn to walk again and all that.

Geez, if you're so self-conscious as to BREAK YOUR LEGS for the sake of height, I think you've got some other, more pressing, matters to deal with, like a raving case of masochism...

Studies have shown that the "ideal" height for Americans is 6'2". This is the height that most people, male and female, desire to be, and also the height that most people associate with "heroism" and "valor". Sadly, I fall an inch short. Woe is me. :( :P

They had this on CSI as well.

Actually, a friend of mine had that treatment done while he was going through grades 6-12, mainly because his leg was caught by a large driven field mower. It's pretty ugly because while it's growing you walk around with a large steel cylinder with metal rods protruding all the way through your leg. He can walk now, but his foot is missing a toe and he has a shitload of scars.

Gattaca?

just get men's shoes that have higher than normal heels. It'll add an inch or two when you're wearing them if that's all you're looking to add.

haha, if that we're true I would be first in line, I'm just 5' 6" but I get away with it because I am (supposedly) cute, just accept it, and be glad that you're not 5'2". That's what I do. Anyway, it all depends on the country you're living in, move away from a western country and live in a country where the average height is closer to yours.

Yeah sure...

"George you can take off the Timberlands now, everyone knows you're 5'6""
"I'm 5'9"
*Jerry looks at him with the eye*
"Okay 5'8""

Haha, I was thinking of that Seinfeld episode too.

But what is most curious to me, is all these people here that are ashamed of their being tall or something. I'm just under 6'3", and I love it. Being able to look over a crowd of people is great. Girls like tall men as well, and it's a proven statistical fact that taller men are more successful in business.

If you're short just move to an Asian country like China or Japan. Everyone there is short and suddenly...you become tall! Also tall people in America become giants there and it ends up being more of a nuisance than anything because you just tower over everyone and feel like a freak.

I recall from one of my high school classes that a person's body will grow until he hits 26, then youstop.

It depends on when the bones fuse, age is somewhat secondary to that. Maybe what your teacher meant was that "Your bones can fuse as late as age 26." That seems a little bit late, though.

But I also wasn't a biology major in college, so what the hell do I know?

Dont worry there are plenty girls who dont mind shorter guys. Plenty of guys are 5'6 - 8. Some of them seem to not mind even large height differences. But then again i rarely see that :p

Is there any way of telling if your bones have fused yet?

Doctors are probably the best way to find out, but maybe WebMD or even the NIH have something online regarding it.

Even if you're 5'7 (I'm about 5'8 and a half), it's not hard at all to find attractive girls who are shorter than you. The guys who really have it bad are those poor unfortunate souls, semi-midgets. Those guys who are like 5'3 or so. I saw one the other day, and I just wanted to give him a hug......seeing guys that much shorter than me warms the cockles of my heart.

Also if it makes you feel better here's a list of famous people who are short so you won't feel so bad: Al Pacino, Dustin Hoffman, Jon Stewart, Jason Alexander, Eli Wallach, Sylvester Stallone, Michael J. Fox, Danny DeVito, Tom Cruise, Elton John, Woody Allen, Mel Brooks, Richard Dreyfuss, Spike Lee, Martin Short, Robert Redford, Kurt Russel. Except for Kurt Russel (I got 5'8" for him), I believe they're all 5'7" or under.

What O_o I don't want to be 6'2 :P I'm happy at being Border's height :rock :D

So do I. Screw it, just lie and say you're 6'2". Everyone seems to add an inch to their height anyway. In fact, so many people do it that the idea of 6'2" is probably really 6'1" anyway. Besides, we're bound to be 6'2" in our shoes, right?

So yeah, lie.

Madonna's skirting 5'3" - 5'4". But I'm not sure if people want to look up to her (or down, as the case may be). ;)

60 minutes just re-aired a piece they did last fall about hormone shots- it might be of interest to some. Here's the transcript:

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/11/18/60II/main584265.shtml

Those shots are really reserved for extreme cases, like when the person who wants them can't produce any growth hormone at all. My friend's brother's friend needed them for that very reason.

I remember the piece, and although I'll have to read the transcript to confirm, there was some concern about overzealous parents trying to inject their kids when, medically, it wasn't necessary.
