It's so true man. I live in eastern washington... which is pretty much a dry desert. Then I'll go over the mountains into Seattle, and its HUMID AS HELL. All the trees, rain... I'd imagine Vancouver would be the same... what with it being in the same sort of climate as Seattle. It's like getting off the plane in Hawaii...

The Cascades are responsible for the humid wet weather Seattle and Vancouver are known for.

I think you just compared the humidity of Vancouver to the humidity of Hawaii, but I don't see any heroin needle marks inbetween my toes on either foot, so I don't understand how I reached the conclusion that you just compared the humidity of Vancouver to the humidity of Hawaii, because no one in their right mind would ever do that.

Maybe you should check your feet?

If I wanted to go snowboarding in canada, What are the best areas and mountains? The only one I have heard of is "Whistler" Is that the best skiing mountain in Canada? Where is that? Are there other better places?

Bad things about Canada:

Our health care system sucks.
Our roads suck, rush hour is 6 hours a day and it takes forever to get anywhere in Toronto.
Gas costs too damn much
Taxes are too damn high
The Liberal party is corrupt, the conservatives are useless and the NDP are fucking communists
We have a Queen who doesn't do anything useful
People are often TOO tolerant and are afraid to take stands.
Too much fucking snow

You're fucking nuts man

Depends on how hot it is... most of the time it's cool so you don't really feel it, but sometimes in the summer its like Hawaii.

Right now, Vancouver:
Humidity 87%

Right now, Hawaii National Park:
Humidity 83%

Vancouver is just cooler atm.

Edit: There are numerous times I've driven from here to Seattle in the summer during a heat wave and stepped out of my car and the humidity hit me like I was stepping out of the plane in Hawaii.

Whistler is located near Vancouver, so you want to live near Vancouver if you want to snowboard there. I would also have to say that Vancouver offers the best snowboarding places since it's actually got frigging mountains when compared to other flat flat flat areas in Canada, haha.

Oh, this is standard issue now.

Fuck the third world. I want my tax cuts.

Harper would do a great job as PM. He'd stop wasting our time with stupid useless shit like gay marriage and holding meetings with Bono and instead focus on important stuff like cutting taxes and fixing health care.

Well, the most important thing is to lower taxes. But there is lots of money being spent on shit like Kyoto that could be moved to better things. But lower taxes is what counts. I'm in the highest bracket and it's fucking killing me, even when I run most things though my business. I spend way to fucking much at tax time and I definately am not getting enough value for my money.

...On Global Warming.
= Shorter winters and longer hotter summers?

Canada would only improve if such a thing could come to pass.

What happened in Alberta could happen in any province, given proper fiscal management.

If I was running things here in Ontario, I'd have our debt paid off in 20 years.

I'd say instead that when you have a big bloated government, then everyone gets screwed by money grabbing douchebags, ie: the Liberal Party. And I'm sick of them raping me of my money.

Now, I'll readily admit I'm only picking out the most negative stuff and there are some occasional coherent thoughts, but Fatghost is a downright conservative. I wasn't around at the time of the Supreme Court Health Care ruling...was there a thread? Did he act like a douche in it? ;)

It's an entertaining thread if you're looking for how we view our political system. Take a look.

In Canada your health care travels with you around the country. If you get sick in BC you can move to Ontario and still recieve all the coverage you enjoyed in BC. The way I hear the US system works is that you are bound to the state that you live in.

Oh yeah, if you like to snowboard then come to Calgary, it's only a hour away from the mountains. Someone also told me recently that age to consent was 14 :P That may also sway you to Alberta, if your other handle is Deadmeat.

catfish,

Seymour Mountain, Grouse Mountain, and Cypress Mountain are each a 30-45 min drive from Vancouver. Great, inexpensive mountains.

Hemlock is another mountain in Mission that's about an hour and a half from Vancouver. Very cheap and fun. But tiny.

Whistler is one of the best ski/snowboard resorts in the world. I think it's also an hour and a half from Vancouver.

And there are at least a dozen more great mountains in various parts of BC. Big White in Kelowna, eg, is a four/five-hour drive from Vancouver. It's wonderful. Very big, excellent runs, excellent community, and always seems to have loads of powder.

I lived in Calgary for 2.5 years from 1994-1996. I was there for the coldest winter in like a century. It was horrible how freezing cold it was.

There were some good things, such as a lot of great places to ski really close. Also, the city wasn't that bad, the schools were decent, and the sports were okay. I had my little league baseball, though playing in the snow with aluminum bats really was never fun.

Age of consent is a federal thing in Canada. It's 14 across the board. (except where positions of power are used)

I've been getting that from tons of people lately. My boyfriend and I are thinking about maybe going there in the winter. Any suggestions/hot spots? :)

There is a downside for living in Canada, selection for products are generally less and games usually get released a few days after the US streetdates.

Also, the Dear Friends concert never seem to make it up here.

Not true.

It's true for Vancouver. Depends on the publisher and the store, but EB and Futureshop has had received their shipments of games a few days after street dates many times when the games are on US stores and people here already have their copies..

That's a shipping issue. It depends where you are. Now in Quebec there really is sometimes an issue with differing release dates. And sometimes with the smaller publishers I guess.

I live in Vancouver.

"games usually get released a few days after the US streetdates" is not true. It's happened before, but not "usually"... and hardly ever "a few days after".

It happens because of the damn French law. Some games like Dynasty Warriors 5 are not even shipped here because the cover and the manual are not bilingual. Companies are fixing this problem though, so we won't have that problem anymore in the future.

I think the delay is due to shipping. For instance, Nintendo games are released day and date in Vancouver because they are printed and boxed in Richmond (which is a suburb of Vancouver).

Other games have to be shipped up here from the US.

DVDs and Music for Canada are printed in Canada so they can move about the country really quickly and not have to suffer a wait at the border.
