Moore and Clement are absolute stooges. I believe it was Moore that claimed that the law wouldn't affect one's ability to backup a DVD, and upon being proven wrong claimed that such infringements wouldn't be enforced. The question, however, is why one would bother implementing a law if they have no intention of it being enforced in the first place.

That's been around since audio tape, and it's debatably a good thing.

If the industry is bitching because we rip our own DVDs and put them on our smartphones, then isn't it worth it to pay an extra $0.25 on the cost of any microSD big enough to hold video, just to get them to stop bitching about how you use your phone?

don't blank cds cost more than blank dvds in canada due to that?

A better breakdown:

You can make backups, personal copies, format shift all that... but those all fall under the rule of not breaking the digital lock.
So, you can make a backup, unless the disc you're backing up has a digital lock, then you're SOL.

Weak sauce indeed, and we caved to pressure from the USA because we were on their bad person list.

Man, weak indeed. Sorry to hear that Canada.

b]Well they have publicly stated several times that every bill they create/pass is part of their mandate as given to them by the Canadian voters.[/b] The Liberals just tried to pass shitty bills without trying to point the finger at the voting public.QUOTE]

What mandate from the voting public? More than 60% of the country voted non-conservative. Fuck this bullshit democracy we have. A party that has been voted in by a minority of the voting public, should not have the ability to pass laws carte-blanc. Fuck you Harper, you robotic piece of shit.

Yeah, because making punishments more severe is the clear solution to the problem.

You better not carry a digital device across a boarder just in case they ask you to boot it up and check for illegal copies.
