Surrey Central has been 20% CPC and 75% NDP/LIB in 2011 already, this is not really a surprise :lol

PR is a MUCH better system on all levels.

Doesn't change that at the end of these days the parties want to stay in party. Going for PR would make the Liberals much less likely for a majority in future. Who knows, though. Trudeau said 1.5 years after he assumes power electoral reform will be the target -- we'll see what happens.

I still can't believe Jack Harris went from 70+% support to losing to Whelan.. Mind blown. Pollsters were really bad but at least they got the growing trend correct.

No I'm in Markham-Thornhill now. Used to be Markham-Unionville though. The LPC candidate in M-T is the same from before.

Unionville has a ton of new condos, and so you would expect more support for pro-urban policies. There is a transit right of way that was just built!

I guess not.

Then again, maybe the attitude is that they got the infrastructure they asked for, and so why change?

Mansbridge just said my favourite sentence:

"Tom Mulcair has called Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to congratulate him."

AHAHAHAHAHAHA

I would've loved to hear the strain in his voice as he tried to keep it together without cursing the whole time.

Schadenfreude is delicious.

When Harper calls Trudeau to congratulate him, Justin's only acceptable response should be: "Suck my balls, you race-baiting piece of shit."

Man I'm glad everyone on Facebook is giving them a chance... I've seen three people calling for a 'Lee Harvey Oswald' already.
Only three?

If anything, this campaign should have opened up everyone's eyes to the prevalent racism and ignorance that has deep roots in this nation of ours.
We can't just close our eyes and mock our neighbors down south for intolerance. We have our own messes to clean up.

I expect a more even match once Harper is gone and the CPC recalibrate themselves. He really should have resigned and let someone else lead the party into this election.

Harper scorched too much earth among urban and suburban "New Stock" Canadians.

Jason Kenny's work in 2011 was burnt to the ground with Harper's choice in 2015 of going big with Identity Politics.

Identity politics did not help Pauline Marois win and it did not help Stephen Harper win.

Harper was a total dumb ass thinking that Pauline Marois's loser strategy could be a winner Federally.

Damn too many blue seats. Cons still ahead in my riding. Though the guys been in since 2004 guess I shouldn't be surprised. Hope the greens get more popular and justin backs off TPP/C51 though I doubt it.

Oh well...SUCK it harper.

Smiley90

Stop shitting on my team. Start shitting on my finger.
The Cons were in power provincially for 40 years.. are you surprised? ;)

nothing about Alberta surprises me :p

Port Moody - Coquitlam 2011:

56% CPC, 30% NDP

2015:

39% NDP, 32% CPC

yessssss

North Vancouver 2011

48% CPC, 30% Lib

2015:

54% Lib, 30% CPC

Why do people keep asking if Charest will run for the conservative party? He has nothing in common with Harper or that party. Charest was part of Mulroney's Progressive-Conservative party, which pretty much only have the name in common with our current Conservative party, which is a rebranded Alliance/Reform party.

Charest does not care for Harper or his party. If he ever runs for the federal elections, it will be for the LPC.

Glad Harper is gone finally. I usually vote NDP because I find I'm usually mostly agree with them but I decided to vote Liberal for the first time because there is a lot in common with NDP and honestly NDP had no chance so I went with who had more of a chance beating out Harper.

I'm not a huge fan of Trudeau but I also don't hate him and I feel ok with him winning, heres hoping he can turn things around.

Dewar, Nash gone,

Kennedy Stewart now in third in Burnaby South (a combination of two NDP strongholds), Mulcair is taking a lot of good MPs with him.

Oh man, same can be said for the NDP. Their centrist campaign didn't work in Ontario, but we heard Mulcair use the exact same failing words as the Ontario NDP used throughout the campaign. Not sure what those NDP strategists are thinking.

Jean Charest doesn't stand for anything, except being a federalist.

So it will bea Liberal Majority. I was hoping for a minority so electoral reform could be more likely to occur. Oh well.

Side note my riding ended up being an Conservative landslide. Thought it would be a lot closer at least.

You're being way too dramatic. You don't win every election with the side you vote for. Just like life, you can't win them all, you just come back and try again next time.

I understand why NDP supporters are so upset. This was their chance to finally break through, and Mulcair completely blew it with a terrible strategy and a lousy campaign. If I were in that position, I'd be devastated too.

Alberta, Saskatchewan entirely
Manitoba South, Interior BC

all full of Rednecks outside the major cities (Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Regina)
Nonsense. BC and Alberta have the highest percentage of non-religious people in Canada.

Keep in mind that Montreal is the only Quebec city that is bigger than Calgary and Edmonton. The overwhelming majority of Albertans live in urban centers. A much higher percentage of Quebecois live in small town and rural areas.

This crap about the west being a bunch of religious rednecks is bullshit assumptions. Newfoundland and Quebec have the highest percentage of religious folk.

Liberals won a majority. That's good. I would have preferred the NDP have a better showing but the main objective was accomplished. Just don't be a bad winner by disrespecting how other Canadians voted.
