Well, you're seeing businesses reduce dei departments as a focus, people being fed up of childish nonsensical tantrums, realisaton that focusing on trend groups who don't actually contribute much money long term is daft... it adds up. We regressed as a society so much. Becoming increasingly "me" and individualism, small picture focused. Frankly the US especially has become a laughing stock, followed by its wingman UK and Western Europe.

The interesting thing is that if you watched the DNC, or listened to their candidate on the campaign trail, they really were not pushing this stuff. It's obvious that the people in charge of the party knew this was happening and tried to de-emphasize it, but the damage was already done. It was nearly a decade of lunacy, if you ever feel like cringing so hard you collapse into your body dig up some of the stuff they were writing from 2017-2021.
Also, too, these struggle sessions take energy. Cultural revolutions are hard work. The one in China lasted 10 years too. A lot of people rightfully point to the way it shut down after Mao died, but the fact is, ten years is a long time to maintain this revolutionary posture. At some point people just burn out.

Too early to celebrate. Many companies and organisations are heavily invested in this stuff. They won't give up so easily because of one election. If you look behind the curtain, you can see that they're scurrying to rebrand but still continue 'the work' in new, less obvious ways.

I think it's important to note that cancel culture only ever had power when the values of a particular artist's audience come into conflict with that artist. So they're always beholden to the values of THAT audience.
People like Louis CK, Neil Gaiman, and Aziz Ansari are vulnerable because their audience are liberal, feminist, and moralists about such things, so they were cancelled fairly easily over relatively minor transgressions compared to some others.
But if you're someone with a right leaning, mostly male audience, no amount of rape allegations are going to detail your career. Andrew Tate continues to have an audience, Donald Trump got reelected. Russell Brand even repositioned himself as a right wing Christian specifically to survive rape allegations. To get cancelled on the right you need to like, be nice to a trans person or something (Budweiser).
But if your audience is broad enough to include a bit of everyone then you get impacted by this stuff but not killed by it. R. Kelly and Bill Cosby really only got fully cancelled when they went to jail. Dave Chappelle got a lot of shit but he never lost his Netflix deals. JK Rowling has weakened some of the fandom but there are just too many Harry Potter fans for her to be fully cancelled.

I think the human race wasn't quite ready for the effect social media would have on us. We needed time to adjust. I don't think the insanity is over by any means, but we are making progress.

The exact same issue is playing out in US Congress right now. Representative Nancy Mace was a rape victim and a domestic assault victim and she’s speaking out against transgender “women” (including the one just elected) from using biological women’s restrooms on Capitol Hill.
Naturally, the media is trying to cancel her and get her censured. They conveniently leave out her past history of sexual abuse and why she may have issues with twigs-and-berries in the ladies room choosing, instead, to just call her a “far right bigot”.

I dont think anyone is brave enough to try this again.

I'd suggest Roman Polanski as an example that ALL SIDES will forgive rape if its in their interests, even that of a child.
We shouldn't confabulate boycotts with "cancel culture". A boycott is just a denial of purchasing a thing (be it a video game, a movie ticket, or a luxury sportscar) in an attempt to influence the direction of the company making it. Cancel Culture is the ERADICATION of the very EXISTENCE of the company/person, excising them from the stuff they made, removing their stuff from even being purchased, and silencing the person from reaching a different audience entirely. It also incorporates morals and actions of the creator not reflected in their work and applying a "purity test" than can be used to mask other flaws. Sean Penn can beat a lot of women so long as he preaches communism.
