so, not sure if anyone has ever gone through this process before...but canceling an xbox LIVE subscription is a pain in the ass.
first, microsoft makes you call them. which, ok - i get it, what with internet security lacking and all (those microsoft browser exploits and what have you)...but then they ask you why you want to cancel. which, seriously, is my own business. how bout that? then they tell you - "ohw, you know: microsoft is replacing exploding AC plugs"....is that right now, i asked?...as my cellular minutes waned, i grow impatient: i mean, this was a free 2 month trial that was starting to add up in tolerance points.
honestly, this needs to be streamlined and users should be able to cancel accounts online. at the end of the call, the sales rep stated my account info would be stored in their database if i ever chose to sign up again. "can i re-instate my username later?" no, he replied. "can you delete my info from your database? that doesn't make me very comfotable," i said....a pause....recital of standard company policy regarding information. i ask again, he repeats company policy. i ask a THIRD time to delete my info, and he states he can not access that info.
what a piss. have i mentioned microsoft's x360 "one universe" video ad campaigns are scary? what to ponder, hmmmmm
PS -
i will never read another issue of PLAY so long as dave halverson's name is associated to a single game review. this is my word. this is my oath to B.O.B.
