Capcom Cup 2014 | Fighting Game Tournament | Dec 13

why are people in here acting like desperation is such a bad thing lol? What xian did was the epitome of desperate given their match history. People do desperate shit when odds are seemingly insurmountable. Desperation isn't always a bad thing. People throw out desperate supers. Players mount combacks because of their desperation. It's all in the game.

Desperation means a choice with low odds because you are out of options? Sim pick gave him higher odds. It's not like he has never played sim.
No, it means that every conventional choice Xian has previously used against Daigo had failed, so he needed to pull this one out of his ass and throw the dice. "Desperate" is not disparaging Xian here, it's reflecting that had he played one of his mains, he wouldn't be in Winner's Semis right now.

How do these brackets work? Didn't daigo lose?

It's double elimination, there's a winner's side and a loser's side. Daigo was on the winner's side when he faced Xian and Xian beat him, putting him in the loser's bracket where once you lose there you're out of the tournament.

Poor Bonchan.

Hasn't been a good week for him at all.

Daigo starting off real good vs. PR Rog already.

There's 45 characters in SFIV and apparently not limiting yourself to just a couple is desperate.

He won, that's what matters. At least what I thought mattered.

Nobody in here including myself said that, but alright.

And yes, the win is what mattered, he played it smart to win after three other characters in the past failed him.

Not when you beat the beast, then you are bottom feeding desperate scum

Exactly.

I was afraid that some wouldn't be able to get the point, hat's off to you.

Daigo's face seems to say "yeah, yeah, let me steamroll over this scrub and get back to the real matches again."

I disagree. You know he hasn't planned this? Finding a solution to a problem isn't desperation.

It is disparaging. Why not just call it smart?
