Resident Evil Global Strategy Meeting

Its interesting that requiem will be the first resident evil game in 3 years tho lol. Something tells me we are about to get one every year going forward for a bit before they gota reload again

CAPCOM decided one approach to expand the series was culturalization, including visiting & gathering info on real American homes to study the living conditions & lifestyles seen in BIO7
but its fun to see a non-US dev emulate US culture

like weird burgers on a menu, weird shop names, weird posters on walls... hope they keep getting it slightly wrong
gives you clues about the people who made the game

Resident Evil...Realism??? Thats funny. I dunno, i feel like we already knew a lot of the post re6 creative philosophy and how re7 anchored their approach to this point. But whatever, least its some solid input from a part of the team(s).

I loved the Bakers and their descent into madness. I'd love to see them capture that type of horror again. I'm also going to miss the OG cast, so I'm glad they're doing more remakes. I've got a book on the design and release of RE7. I feel like people get too caught up complaining about the camera angle to truly appreciate it.

They'll never be able to make every fan happy. Some are thrilled the direction that Requiem is going; me included. While there's another group that's disappointed that they aren't committing 100% to horror. I totally get it though, I'd be fine with a 100% horror game with just grace. But I do like the balance they're going for.

In terms of strategy a 2hr/2wk no-questions-asked PSN return policy paired with blocking 100% of game footage online will boost game sales more than any price cuts.
AAA Franchises don't need 'social' to create a buzz and watching other people play a game dampens and removes the urgency to buy it.
Seeing other people play a brand new game makes it feel like an 'older game' and makes it easier to put off purchasing and wait for the strategic price cuts.

With all this structure, all these tools, and all these well-oiled teams, a Dino Crisis remake should be as easy as putting one foot in front of the other and walking.

So why the hell doesn't it happen? I don't buy the argument that the franchise isn't popular.

I'm guessing REMake, Zero, and CV will be the next trio of remakes while Requiem and RE X will be the "new" games. Capcom's output speed has been solid so it wouldn't surprise me for them to get those five games out over the next 5-7 years. Remember, in a span of 6 years they did VII, Village, 2, 3, and 4.

For me, it would be crazy if they can pull that off again where almost every other AAA house outside of the CoD factory can barely do one franchise entry in that same amount of time. CapGods.

This is why Capcom is the goat for me. They don't go a whole gen to release one game. They pump out a lot of quality in the time frame of a generation. By the end of 2028 we will likely get Requiem, RECV remake and RE0 remake. And the odds of them being above average or solid is very likely.
