Interesting they put grace in there with the mainliners, though I guess it could just as well be the top 5 votes most popular + the upcoming new lead.
 
What's remarkable to me about this Resident Evil is how Capcom was able to course correct after RE5/6 and save the franchise, arguably taking it to new heights. I wish Square could do the same with FF.

Not enough people buy Bravely or Octopath which are the better FF games. Maybe they will course correct after seeing Expedition 33 but I just don't see it. They are hyperfocused on FFVIIR3 right now.

I guess if we have a mercenaries equivalent this is a potential early peak at the playable roster.
 
I think Ada being hotter than the sun probably does most of the heavy lifting with her popularity. Otherwise she's a pretty unremarkable one trick pony of a character, who's had next to no development compared to the rest.
 
I like how they all have a boss level BoW/BoW heavily tied to them above them in that picture, but there's something wrong.

Leon is so up there obviously because of girl RE streamers. It's a gamergirls' favorite game after all. Jill for me, such a shame they fucking forgot the best character.

Has more to do with the characterization with the new age of Resident Evil then anything else. Lots of characters have either been toned down or rewritten entirely. Jill is probably the biggest offender on the list. Bad voiceacting notwithstanding Ada is still a femme fatale mercenary even if it was portrayed much better in the originals.

They won't use Jill in new games because they won't address her RE5 canon until they rewrite the RE5 canon to suit their narrative interest.

Post RE5 she has permanent blonde hair.

I think Ada was still pretty popular before RE2R though.
 
Ada was pretty popular in the series in general, with 4 really kicking it off. There's a huge community of people who love these characters over the years and is pretty high.

Well yes she always was since her creation in both RE2 and RE4. It's why I said despite her poor voice direction in RE4R she is still the same Ada. However Ada has a little more context regarding her feelings towards Leon in the originals that you won't find in the Remakes. Specifically the little details in RE2.

I think it suffered cause of Capcom's 'no union' policy.

The actress who voiced Ada was the same one who had the cameo at the end of that Welcome to Raccoon City movie.

Please no, I like a good balance of characters, but I am happy to see Leon again in the modern timeline finally. Would like to see Jill again (being bias and all, lol).
 
I had no problem with Ada's voice in RE4 remake. In fact, I thought her subgame was as good as the main game just due to the pacing. The whole game of RE4 remake is a masterpiece that surpassed the original. It is beyond good and a must play.

If the game was nothing but driving around the pond in the boat it would be worth the price.

That's not even counting how good they did the VR in it. It may be the best game ever made.

Yeah, Capcom (at least going with what I know when fully into it up to a few years back on stuff this part) wasn't quite fond of Union stuff and was all over the place. Richard Waugh will always be my Wesker.

They should add Jill as the protagonist to a mainline RE title already. She makes the most sense out of all of them with her slower aging and her BSAA involvement (given what BSAA is doing at the end of RE8).

Dimitrescu did nothing for me. Jill and maybe Rebecca are the only ones close to Sheva's fine self for me in terms of RE women.

I recently replayed the OG Trilogy, but before that I probably played OG RE3 when I was in college. I knew when RE3R came out that they had cut out a lot of content from the OG, I even read the list of things they cut. But having freshly experienced the original recently, it's absolutely shocking how much the Remake cuts from the Original. When I was playing the OG, at one point I realized that I had been playing for almost 3 hours, and I'm still in the city. I think at that mark, I would've been finished with the Remake.

RE3 Nemesis is an adventure. RE3R is a shortlived Michael Bay film.

Capcom got away with murder in my eyes with how much it sold and all that. I am sure they wont do the same ever state again and was just caught inbetween with things due to then. But yeah, dear lord.

Sheva was cool. I was hoping she'd make a comeback in the REVillage DLC with the BSAA returning but nope. Capcom keeps focusing on the terrible new characters that no one cares about. Joe Baker is the only new one worth a damn

Truly is a mystery. If it was up to me I'd be putting a lot more characters in the recurring Mercenaries mode. But maybe you will get lucky with the RE Gacha Game.

Which btw the Mercenaries Mode first appeared in RE3 and is not present at all in RE3R.

Yet most other RE games now have a variation of Mercenaries/Raid Mode.

I sub to the theory that RE3R started out as a DLC, and they decided at one point to turn it into a separate full price game. The fact that it came out a year after RE2R, resused a ton of assets, had maybe half of the content of the original, it just makes sense to me.
 
The new are is great for everyone but LEON. Makes him look like a Final Fantasy character. All the rest look cool.

They should have given Ashley some special treatment too. I thought she would be higher in the poll.

She was in the files for RE6 Mercs back in the day and that's the last we heard about her.

The problem with RE is it has too many characters who are alive.

Piers was killed in RE6, Ethan Winters in RE8 and Billy Coen is MIA otherwise you got like 10 characters who are still potentially existing.
