Capcom's Hiroyuki Kobayashi : "Unexpected" game announcement "soon"

Pretty sure they'd announce that at the Sengoku Basara event in February.

I believe one more time.

After a no show at TGS I don't think we're gonna see DMC5 until next year TGS the earliest. Would love to be proven wrong though.

Until then...Bayonetta 2

I wouldn't be surprised if they only announced that Deep Down was Dragon's Dogma online... a watered down, procedurally-generated version of Dragon's Dogma with a freemium currency model for financial support. I honestly think that's the most likely scenario for the resurgence of the Dragon's Dogma IP but oh, how I'd love to be wrong about that...

Itsuno hasn't been working on Deep Down though.

Honestly even if it's not DMC I'll be happy to see whatever he has to announce because he's proven himself to be an incredibly capable director across multiple games and genres.
But I reaaaaally want it to be DMC.

Itsuno (Dragon's Dogma/DMC2~4 director) just had interview with latest issue of Dengeki PS and he said he is working on multiple titles, and will announce one of them really soon.

Dragon’s Dogma director Hideaki Itsuno: “We’ve got several games in the pipeline right now. One of them is even in the last stages right now. We should be able to announce it soon.”

Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen producer Minaeu Matsukawa: “We’re working really hard to get ready for people to learn about what we have coming up in 2015 and get them excited to play those games.”

Sengoku Basara series producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi: “2015 will mark the 10th anniversary of the Sengoku Basara franchise. You can expect a lot of exciting announcements and developments in light of the occasion.”

ITS HAPPENING

RELEASE DAHBOMB

Just splurge your load and get people to have faith in you again, Capcom. Dragon's Dogma Online AND Devil May Cry 5, announce them both. Don't be shy, have a try.

Deep Down rebranded as Dragon Dogmas Online to the sadness of many
BUT a new full fledged DMC5

Then for me since he said multiple a new DIno Crisis in some form.

Dragon's Dogma 2 please. Leave character action games to Platinum.

Boooooooooooo :P

Itsuno and co are the only others who could shit out something potentially magical in the genre barring Platinum Games. We need more games in the genre, not less.

I want Platinum Games to give me Metal Gear Rising 2 tho.

Why must all my favourite IP's be the ones incredibly unlikely to get new entries/sequels these days? Fuck gaming, I'm taking up professional post stamp collecting.

But i think DD Online would be Deep Down "renamed", and Deep Down is Ono's business.

We don't know anything for sure yeah, we have to hope.

*puts his hands up in the air for the spirit dahbomb*

Dragon's Dogma has bigger growth potential than DMC.

But since this is Capcom, I don't expect them to realise DD's potential. I fully expect DMC5 from them and some bizarre online DD game. :(

Probably wont hear about DMC5 until E3 2015. Don't think enough time has passed for everyone to forget Itsuno's famous quote, "60fp is bad for the eyes".

Doesn't matter what, Itsuno working on not just one but multiple projects is the best news I've heard in a while.

BELIEVE

Itsuno at JumpFesta, steps up on stage: "Dragon's Dogma Online is Dragon's Dogma for PS4/X1/PC, 1080p/60fps, with additional story missions and content, with online elements added to the pawn system. Also we're making DMC5, here's a teaser" *drops mic*

Please let it happen, Dragon's Dogma 2 or a remastered DD1 and the Dragon's Dogma Online part is just the coop mode. I need this.

This.
I'm fine with either current/PC gen DD2, or a current/PC gen version of DD1 to rack up some cash, since they're so strapped at Capcom.

Well, Kobayashi said it would even turn heads in the West, and I doubt Sengoku Basara would be the series to do that.

I feel like they might be talking about different games. Dragon's Dogma Online is practically confirmed at this point. The fact that there's a separate trademark in Europe shows that something is in the pipeline.

A new Dragon's Dogma or remaster of 1 would indeed be fantastic, whichever platform they choose to release it on. Loved (most of) the original game.

Not to steer us away from Kobayashi and DD, but does anyone here know what Ryota Niitsuma (director of Marvel vs Capcom 3) has been working on since the Jojo re-release? I feel we almost need one of those "Nintendo studio projects" type overview for Capcom directors at this point not to let Capcom things (official or rumored) slip through the cracks.

I'll be surprised if it is dragon's dogma 2.

If Street Fighter can't apparently be made without external funding, what are the chances for a game that didn't sell well?

You mean someone like Nintendo's Hitoshi Yamagami?

This man saved Bayonetta 2 and Devil's Third.

It's likely Capcom has been working on several projects for the past couple of years, some of which might have fallen through due to money and budgetary issues, and some due to Panta Rhei not being optimal if it really has problems. I mean, they'd be stupid not to work on new console projects when next gen was upon us (yes the Wii U was already here but Capcom wouldn't care about Wii U unless Nintendo steps in and pays for something).

I wouldn't be surprised if Niitsuma was working on something that fell through. All purely speculative, of course, but it's been almost 3 years since UMvC3, and JoJo couldn't have been that work intensive. He must have been working on something.

As for what he could be working on, well Tatsunoko 2 will probably never happen, Marvel 4 the same. It has to be a new crossover, maybe something like Capcom vs. PlayStation All Stars if the Sony relationship continues. Other fan pipe dreams like Capcom vs. Shonen Jump would be a licensing nightmare exceeding that of Tatsunoko, and Capcom vs. Nintendo would only happen if Nintendo paid for it.
Personally I feel the thing he needs to do is take the Marvel 3 formula and the assets of the Capcom side, and use those to make Capcom All-Stars. If SF5 won't do incremental iterative releases like Super anymore, but instead adds characters like KI, then they could do the same with CAS. Just add characters over the entire gen until DLC sales slow down. Then do the sequel for next gen. It's nice to dream.

Interesting (really, not sarcastically), but no, I actually meant those diagrams some people on Gaf sometimes whip out to give an overview or speculation of which Nintendo internal studio / director is working on which game. Sorry for being unclear.

Thanks! Your speculation about Niitsuma's projects sounds solid, but also saddening. Let's hope he's at least working on something that will eventually see the light of day. If only we would know about all games that are indeed cancelled behind closed doors - or wait, maybe its better for our sanity and stress levels that we don't...
