I've said before and i'll say it again.
Remasters are a great way to train junior developers or play around with different roles and test new manager positions.
If they do it like that and the main team is not busy with it, it's a great strategy and a win for everyone. If they focus on the remaster and not a new game it sucks.

Also, Sony didn't want DG2 but they fund a remaster?

My theory is that they have to bridge the gap with these remasters now because traditional 4-5 years of development have now become 6-8 years for AAA, in essence in order to get ps6 games out in a timely manner they would need to start development right now.

I'm one of the few who actually loves this game and got all the trophies, never for one second made any stupid comparison with TLOU which was hard to explain to the Naughty Dog fanboys saying the game should be canned because ND invented zombie apocalypse genre

But for the good lord, how many re-re-re-remasters is Sony trying to milk? This one is so unnecessary

You have a PS5, so you probably already have it on your PSN account. It was free to claim from 2020 to 2023.
Yeah I believe I do. I’m working my way through Dragons Dogma 2 atm, then I wanna try Path of Exile 2, and then I might hop in. I just hope I can get through those before feb when kingdom come 2 is released…

Man, those moments when he muttered were really weird (to say the least), one moment he'd be like " ASDADGDHDKDKF AARGH FUXK, WHY HE DID THAT? MOTHERDUCKER AGSHDJD !!" and the next exact moment he'd be all whispery 🤣🤣
What's weirder is that this happens even during conversations with other characters (while riding the bike).

My opinion ? It's just bad sound/voice over production.
:messenger_tears_of_joy::messenger_tears_of_joy::messenger_tears_of_joy:
Bad sound mixing and production is a part of it, but Sam Witwer does a crazy good job selling mental instability also !
I remember him saying crazy stalker stuff like when you're observing a enemy camp from afar he'd go "Yeah.... You don't know im watching... Keep living your life not knowing a thing..." or some other unhinged psycho rant.
I know a lot of people disliked it but i don't know why i found it fine, and even more realistic in a way, since only a real psycho would do what Deek does in a post apocalyptic setting...

Yea. I have no idea how they could make it substantially better. It's 4k 60fps on PS5. That's where the power of the PS5 went. Dramatically better than the ps4 version.

If this is true:

Zero talent left at Sony to actually produce something.

Zero shame they have as a company with zero self respect to its IPs

shittest management any company can have. Even Don mattick or whatever his name was is better than the current Sony management

Watch them discontinue the PC release from steam so they can sell you the same game for 50$

Sony can fuck off and anyone who support them to be honest.

What is sad that journalist are a sellout with no balls to even flat out tell them fuck off and give the game 1 out of 10 just to fuck up the metrics score so Sony can fuck off with this shitty behaviour .

So fucking lame

Bought on PC for cheap (75% off). Played it for 15 mins to see how it looks and it looks and run amazing. Will hold off on a playthrough until this remaster is announced.

they could do some nice things in a proper remaster, improve the gunplay, improve the human enemy ia, not turning off all the physics/ragdoll when you fight an horde now that you have more than shitty jaguar cpu...

I mean just throw a granade into a days gone horde and then throw a granade into a world war z horde, the difference is GENERATIONAL.

The game is already enjoyable but if the dude can wait and there is even the 1% chance of bigger fixes, i woukd wait and see, the pc version at 5 euros is gonna be there at anytime.

Are you telling me there's hope for a sequel?
That part right there. I'm in for an upgrade fee just to make the point we want a sequel.

I played through the full game on a base PS4 so I don't really know at this point, but was that last 1/4 of the game fixed? The game just ran worse and worse the longer you went on and the FPS and shit really tanked once you got to the military encampment and that entire section of the game. I feel like a remaster could really make that section shine.

The whole industry is pretty much junior roles. That's why it's remasters because there is no talent left. They've all grown up and moved on or been pushed out by young purple haired game devs like the professor.

Here's my take:

First up, I'm somewhat dubious about the economic viability of updating decently functional games with remasters; I dunno it seems a bit like factory busywork that is generally low-risk, low-reward if you have teams set aside to specialize in this sort of development.

Setting that aside, I don't really have an issue with it. Even if it runs worse/is more demanding than the original, in a few years time that problem will most likely sort itself out through all-round advancements in tech. So, taking the long view the game will stay viable longer and potentially be better.

Creatively, I'm ok with it so long as the original work is respected. Games, in fact code generally is designed to be iterated upon and improved over time so its not like its some sort of holy text that's being defaced. Although obviously any change is likely to be divisive, and I would never accept change to incorporate contemporary fads and politics as that sort of editorializing is always destructive. But if its done with care and respect... go for it, because...

Here comes the hottest part of my take: I don't care if the remake displaces the original. Because if it does that, it makes the original work more valuable and desirable.

See, I always give people talking about "game preservation" side-eyes because it seems to me they just want "more stuff", or are somehow fearful of losing something.

That's not the mindset of a collector or an enthusiast; that's just hoarding.

Rarity = Value. And there's a huge difference in value between items that only survive in small quantities and mass-produced tat that ends up in landfills. And I stress I do not mean "value" in a purely monetary sense, I mean in totality like when a certain experience is uncommon to vanishingly rare in occurrence,

It bugs me to no end when something no longer being easily available gets hyperbolized into it being non-existent! Its bullshit!

Played about 25 hours and bored me, dropped it with zero regret or guilt. I tend to feel guilty of dropping commitments like games, books, projects, etc. But with this one I felt it already gave me everything I could take from it so far. I don't tend to play big open world western games so are most/all of them like this one? If so I'm probably missing nothing
