Captain America: Civil War - Final Trailer

So hundreds were killed during the Chitauri attack, but the Avengers were responsible for 74 of those deaths? How can they even determine that?

But Evans only has one movie left on contract after this and it seems iffy that he wants to sign on for more (at least that's my understanding). So keeping him out of Part 1 for a flashy Part 2 revival makes more sense.

But in all seriousness
I think Cap gets put in that big prison at the end of the movie and they try to fight Thanos without him and then someone breaks him out either at the very end of Part 1 or the beginning of Part 2.
That does make sense however RDJ doesn't have any films left either and since CW is Caps's film after all, it will be unlikely if he jobs in this.

Maybe CW will shake things up more than WS/AoU. Perhaps Infinity War Part 1 will focus more on GotG + Spidey + BP + Thor + Hulk

This has been my thought. They won't kill Steve but he will stop fighting and surrender to the authorities, essentially giving up the mantle of Captain America and Avenger. His image will be tarnished but he will at least find a way to save Bucky, and he'll remain out of the picture until Infinity War.

(No need to spoiler tag speculation FYI)

I predict this too (or at least I'm hopeful for it). Cap gives up, turns himself in for some kind of deal with the people on his side getting immunity and/or high-up positions in whatever organization will be handling the registration. Though I dunno what they'd do about Bucky in that case.

Infinity War rolls around, and after Thanos kicks all the asses, they come to Steve, and he tells them that no matter what they do to him, he'll still fight for them, and back into action he goes.

iirc, Evans has said he will do Captain more if Marvel still wants him after his contract is up. And I think Infinity War is considered one movie, contract wise. Since they'll be filming both at the same time.

Yes he does. He re-upped his contract for Avengers 2 and 3 shortly after the first movie ("Avengers 3" being Infinity War pt. 1), and then signed on to Civil War separately a couple years later.

I could be wrong but I think that was debunked when the two-part split was first announced as not being legally allowed.

Marvel may not want to renew some contracts. You'll notice that anyone new to the MCU has long movie contracts, while most of the original avengers have shorter ones. The problem is that RDJ gets INSANE amounts of money playing Stark. Probably more than the rest of the main Avengers do combined. A new contract would mean marvel paying Evans a lot more.

investigate?

eye witness and security cam footage showing stuff like Hulk and Thor getting reckless with throwing shit, random arrows on dead bodies, tracing bullets back to Black Widow's gun, Ironman's has a very unique tech so its would be easy to tell who cause what damage. etc etc.

this scenario is pretty plausible imo

Maybe they just give them new contracts

I don't think either Evans nod RDJ will sign new multi-film contracts but I do think they will continue to work with Marvel on a case-by-case basis. I think it is almost a given that RDJ will show up in Spidey's movie and that wouldn't be covered in his renewed contract, and if they want to continue giving material to Iron Man in future stories I'm willing to be he'll happily show up. They just can't and shouldn't plan their future phases with the assumption that these guys will be available.

Thunderbolt Ross is a huge dickbag

The destruction in Avengers was caused by THORs brother

The destruction in Winter Solider was caused by CAPs employer

The destruction in Avengers 2 was caused by IM's creation (and the often forgotten contributions to Ultron of HULK)

Regardless of the fact that they weren't actually the ones doing the killing, they were all involved or related in some way to the parties that did. They aren't being arrested, they are being put on a leash to prevent this stuff from happening again.

(#TeamIronMan)

What's more surprising is the government giving the Avengers shit for the casualties in NY when the world security council was ready to sacrifice all of Manhattan to stop it

Then again that was mostly Malick's call and now we know that dude is Hydra

Why is death needed for "stakes"? I never get this.

This movie is probably going to end with the Avengers heavily demoralized or even disbanded, they don't need to kill off characters with stories still to tell just for added drama. It's cheap and didn't work for Age of Ultron.

Because if the characters aren't in any real danger it takes away from the potential excitement and suspense. It didn't work in AoU because the character who died had only just been introduced and was in the film for less than 30 minutes of runtime. He was basically included in the story to die. Now imagine if Hawkeye had bought it, or War Machine. That would carry weight and make it seem like anything could happen.

yep I'm guessing (deal with sony allowing) the 2017 spidey film will be a passing of the torch so to speak from Iron Man to Spider-man as the driving force of the MCU

Great trailer. Highlights being Hawkeye/Antman and Spidey reveal. Spiderman seems right in looks and voice, was odd to see some having issues with the voice at first.

Nah, my bet is
stark
only because Marvel want to keep their massive payroll for Infinity War in check.
That doesn't make any sense though. He's the main reason for these movies being so successful, and the next Avengers is the culmination of all of this build up. You're talking the difference of a few hundred million dollars at minimum. It's not like Civil War is going to break a billion dollars thanks to Captain America. It's Iron Man that's going to take it above that boundary.

Yeah, Robert got something like $40m to do AoU. Scarlet got the second highest salary with $20m. Evans gets no where near that kind of money, which is a shame really since he enjoys the role so much.

have you guys seen the kid doing gymnastics... he fucking learned (or already knew?) how to flip around like spidey... im all in with this kid man!!! look at this shit!

Tom Holland is dedicated! (also this kinda shows that he will be doing a lot of his own stunt flipping... and that it might not all be CGI!)

Goddamn they did found the perfect spidey.

Has anyone touched upon the fact that the Avengers are fighting at a German airport, yet Spider-Man shows up there? Cause that doesn't seem correct unless Tony flew him over seas just for this one random fight scene. I'm wondering if that entire last shot of the trailer was JUST for the trailer and won't even be in the movie.

there's a set pic of tom holland on a quinjet

I'm actually kind of annoyed that I woke up yesterday to check my mail, and Yahoo had the image of Spider-Man from the trailer plastered on their front page before I got the chance to see it on the trailer in the first place.

I hate when Yahoo does shit like this. It's not even my home page, but I tend to check my email first thing in the morning, and Yahoo always posts spoiler images of important entertainment stuff in their articles.

You can bet that if some major characters die in Game of Thrones, the next day (or even the same night), Yahoo will have an article titled, "So in so's shocking death in Game of Thrones!" with a picture of said actor. They even have the cheekiness to put "Spoilers" in a lot of those articles.

Bah!

Man, I am really excited for this movie. Two more months for us NA folks? I don't actually know the release date beyond May.

i think the spider man scene happens before the "showdown". its cut to make you think it happens in the middle of it, but you only see war machine/tony and cap/widow "interacting" with him.

tom holland was in germany at the airport while they where shooting, so he will be in those scenes in some form.

You can avoid that by going straight to mail.yahoo.com

If Hawkeye had bought it, I would have died of annoyance. The death flags for him in that movie were absurdddddd.

It makes plenty of sense actually. (A lot more than your use of spoiler tags in discussions about the the business of Marvel)

Granted RDJ established the brand. But if you take a poll who people would rather see Spidey or Ironman, it wouldn't even be close. And guess what? Tom Holland is probably the cheapest Avenger at the moment.

If you want keep the brand fresh, you need to move on. Stark's schtick is getting old and his character is venturing into Annoying Land.

and Mate

Ok, makes more sense now.

That's a good point. I'm thinking more like
Wash
from Serenity. When he was killed, there was a sense of dread for the rest of the film since it came without warning and seemed like everyone was expendable.

Lol does anyone outside of GAF actually feel this way? Practically everyone I know loves Iron Man and are pretty concerned about the potential falling out with Cap & the Avengers. They don't want him going anywhere. RDJ will always be a huge draw for these films.

GAF is a bigger sample size than "practically everyone [you] know".

Are you seriously using some imaginary poll as some kind of evidence? Because I can point you to the very real history of these superheroes at the box office, and that's a far more valuable metric than what you think would happen on some poll.

The brand can get fresh once Infinity War is done. Spider-Man isn't a bigger deal than Iron Man, and only a delusional person would think otherwise right now. Iron Man is the most bankable Marvel superhero, and he's the core of this current universe. Infinity War isn't some fresh start for these movies. They've spent years building up to them and it's the culmination of all of these years of effort they've put in. You don't just abandon your key player when you finally arrive there. He needs to be in those movies.
Not killed off in Captain America 3 so Marvel can save fifty million dollars. Seriously. Jebus Rice.

Disney values the movie rights to Spider-man at $4B -- the same as Star Wars.

How's that for a metric?

RDJ gave the MCU it's start and it's credibility but Evan is really is the heart of it all to me.

Civil War
BvS
Suicide Squad
Rogue One

Mother of god I'm going to be so broke. Spiderman looks amazing, looking at this version makes me realise how badly FOX fucked him up haha!

I wish they didn't try to give a "realistic" explanation for the moving eyes. Just have Tony make a quick comment on it in the middle of an action scene before more pressing matters take him away. Just a small meta joke.

it would look really out of place for how grounded most things are in the MCU

The in-universe explanation should actually be that Tony thought his mask could use some emoting.

Well, it's not a metric since it's not true. Disney doesn't value the movie rights to Spider-Man at $4 billion, and neither does Sony. I have no idea why you'd resort to lying about this. That's just incredibly weird.
