Wakanda (Marvel Northeast African nation) is where Vibranium (what Cap's shield is made of) is at. A meteorite crashed in Wakanda in the distant past containing Vibranium. It's what led to Wakanda becoming one of the most technologically advanced nations. Vibranium radiation permeated the land of Wakanda, including the Heart-Shaped Herb that is eaten by the Black Panther Cult. And to add some extra: Adamantium (Wolverine's skeleton/claws) (also Ultron in the comics) was created as Myron McClain tried to replicate Vibranium.
There was a slightly different version of Vibranium that was discovered in Antartica 10,000 years ago that could dissolve other metals; but the soundwave/energy absorbing Vibranium is what is used and talked about.
Black Panther wears a suit made of Vibranium, is a trained martial artist, and a genius. And he gets superhuman senses and abilities from a Panther God. He lost connection and went to an unknown Panther deity, too.
Being completely serious here but has the name Black Panther caused issues? I know that when Falcon was Black Falcon I recall seeing stuff about it. Even in robot chicken.
I hope you're ready to hear this shit more and more as we get closer to the movie's release.
A huge part of the appeal with The Avengers was all of Phase 1 coming together successfully and seeing all these heroes fight on screen together. It's a film I really like, but I'm not sure how well it will hold the test of time, unlike The Winter Soldier or Guardians of the Galaxy. It also felt like a suitable end to the series of films and the closing of a chapter, while Age of Ultron isn't so neat and has to spend some time setting up other films.
This is really interesting to read. I'm not familiar with BP at all and this hidden and advanced nation is an awesome idea.
I remember reading a different post a while back that said something along the lines of "while the rest of the world was fighting with sticks Wakanda had swords". Was this Vibranium radiation also the cause for their technological advancement? Or was it just coincidence that they had the greatest metal *and* the great scientific minds comparable to those like say, Einstein and Newton, to really take advantage of it? The seclusion aspect is what really fascinates me.

Completely forgot that Harvey Birdman did this joke before too.I loved Harvey Birdman for those jokes:
Black Vulcan: "You think I wanted to be called Black Vulcan, Hell no. I wanted to be Super Volt. Black Vulcan was Aqua Man's idea. I said 'GREAT, why don't we call you White fish?' "
Super heroes, aliens, gods, robots.......but African scientists, you've gone too fucking far marvel!
Why would it cause issues, the name sounds awesome.Being completely serious here but has the name Black Panther caused issues? I know that when Falcon was Black Falcon I recall seeing stuff about it. Even in robot chicken.
Don't worry Viper. This is being directed, written and composed by the same team as Winter Soldier. So if you loved that movie, you will love this as well. I still haven't seen AoU actually, that's how much the original Avengers put me off. But I will try to watch either this weekend or the next after this trailer. Just to do some catch up as I'm sure there will be some references between the movies.J_Viper said:After AoU, I can't let myself too hyped just yet. Solid trailer though.
On a related note, I'm so glad Whedon and his quips are out of the MCU.
Why does Black Panther get white eyes but we still can't get them for Batman.
Warner Bros plz.
One thing I would like to add to this is , with regards to Cap is a lot of people who weren't around during that time (all of us) who are US citizens or otherwise like to project our assumptions about that time onto Captain America. A few interviews with Joe Simon and Jack Kirby reveal the true climate of the nation the character was released into. A country that was over 60 percent against the war, with no standing army, and ranked 18th or so in the world military scene and just coming out of a Great Depression. Fully segregated , in most places legal to terrorize african americans with little or no legal action taken, in many cases it could be put in the newspaper what would happen. The country was divided in any way you wanna look at it.
Furthermore, this was a USA that pioneered the Eugenics movement that was adopted by Nazi Germany and carried out to its logical conclusion. The USA that had Adolf Hitler as Time man of the year a few years before we got into the war, that had arbitrary fitness and sterilization laws in almost all 50 states, which means Steven Rogers would've never been born had he been the 2nd or 3rd sickly child. This is a USA that allowed and watched violence for profit and sold money and funded Lennin, and Hitler even during the war. Yes that Bush was found guilty of funding the enemy while his son fought in WWII. We later elected two of his children into the office of the President (hey ...at this point even the Red Skull has been in US government)
When this character debuted with a star spangled hero punching hitler in the mouth it caused such an outrage Mayor Laguardia(yes the airport one) had to get police escort for Kirby and Simon due to the backlash from isolationist groups.
So while it may be the popular thing to assume Cap is a GO GO USA freedom bombs propaganda tool , he actually predates the war and was created as a polemic against Nazi Germany's polices on the value of human LIFE, leading up to USA's involvement in the war.
His appearance being purposely modeled after those stupid uberman posters (blond hair blue eyes) , his moral center being an extrapolation of rights being inalienable and SELF evident (not justified by men or governments inherent to all men), his fighting ability being the embodiment of a bad ass dude from kirby's neighborhood where you had to learn to fight (Apparently no one could beat him even if they ganged up on him), and his heart an embodiment of simon and kirby growing up hard where you had to hussle, post depression.
I think externally many have been inspired by Cap and the whole great patriotic hero archetype, but there is only one Steven Rogers who is a truly interesting creation by two of the all time greats in comics creators. Captain America..is Steven Rogers..when you take a second to think about that.
back to the hype.
Hm. Seem to be giving a lot of prominence to Bucky. I wonder why. I. Wonder. Why.
They've been teasing that shit since the first movie and he's signed on for nine movies, ya?
Falcon/Scarlet Witch: Eh, we're lazy as shit, we'll just fly really low instead of just running like that dumbass normal Hawkeye
Is this a serious post?Yeah, this. I was under the impression Africa wans't tecogocinally advanced as America? Of all the things in the Marvel movie universes, this by far seems the most unrealistic. Did America maybe give him the super serum?

I'm calling it as BP is just looking for a doubles tennis partner to go up against Dr StrangeI am calling it now BP is playing everyone, it will probably be a plain to get back all that vibranium and get a bead on Klaw.
Is this a serious post?
Thank you.
Turn down for what"Do you remember me Buck?"
"I remember your mom."
Captain America/Bucky: Eh, we're lazy too, we're only running this slow so Hawkeye can keep up.
I was hoping that when he said that cap would point the finger at him going "ooooooooooh"Turn down for what
So it looks like Black Panther is fighting Cap and Co.
Wouldn't he be against Stark's plan to name all superheros or whatever he's doing?
Never read any of the comics, just wondering what his motivation would be in this movie.

Day'um that was good. Is this Civil war going to continue through other Marvel films or end in this Captain America film?

They should give Hawkeye those boots that dude had in Jupiter Ascending.
Stupid Elzar.Yeah, this. I was under the impression Africa wans't tecogocinally advanced as America? Of all the things in the Marvel movie universes, this by far seems the most unrealistic. Did America maybe give him the super serum?
Oh wow. I forgotI could see the 'war' being over in this fllm, but I think the rumours were thatuntil (spoilers?)The Avengers remains dividedInfinity War Part 2.
I'm looking forward to the meltdowns.Nooooo stop we're gonna be getting enough of this from genuine idiots over the next few months lol
God I hate that plotline so much. I get that it was done to give Clint some development, but it grinded the whole movie to a near halt.or they could give anyone else ever his bow and arrow and he can sit his ass home with the wife and kids like he's supposed to
Thats what I hope forI could see the 'war' being over in this fllm, but I think the rumours were thatuntil (spoilers?)The Avengers remains dividedInfinity War Part 2.
