Careless Whisper has the best intro / lead-in to any song, ever.

How could I forget the blue balls of song intros - maybe not the highest quality, although it is good, but sure makes up for it with quantity.

I think this song just builds its intro and then launches you into a song about heaven.

And here is 20 seconds of a melancholy melody into a song that begs you to reminisce.

The intro made this song famous.

Great post. Thunderstruck and Baba O'Riley are top 5 at least.

My pick will be a personal favorite from my homeland. Its an absolute classic that more people should know about.

Be aware that this is a song from 1972, but it sounds so modern. The guitar player was one of the best to ever live. The solo is just incredible.

Legendary song by a legendary artist but I like this intro more

It's hard to pick an all-time best intro, or even a top 3 for that matter

Van Halen would like a word with all of you:

Boston will also be sitting in on the meeting:

And Queen is very upset about this thread:

So many good ones already posted, Baker Street's probably my favorite. Thunderstruck, Baba O'Reilly, Careless Whisper, Crazy Train, and Welcome to the Jungle all have such iconic openings.

Here are a couple more with great openings;

I think The Who were like the kings of intros. U2 and others walked in their footsteps. I like Station to Station because of the violin plucking part that goes on forever.

Careless Whisper sax is like brain massage.

The 80s had some killer intros, songs that go hard from the start
Here's one off the top of my head (I resisted the urge to post Rick Astley)
