CBS Orders Supergirl Series

Honestly, Supergirl's costume is just so shitty.

I mean, it's something I'd want a girl to dress up in before we do the nasty. That's not what a heroic larger-than-life figure should wear.

She should have something more regal than fucking VAGINA SHIELD.
I could imagine them going with something like this

(Maybe without red arms)

Basically something similar to Supermans costume in Man of Steel

So the movies can use Barry Allen despite him being on TV, but the TV universe can't use Batman or Superman. Just stupid IMO.

I say its better for it. Having Supergirl be the last survivor of Krypton, essentially being Superman is a very interesting spin. And Green Arrow in this universe is effectively Batman. Removing the big two (well big three including Wonder Woman) gives these characters a interesting point of view I say.

I agree. I like these changes. Flash/Arrow essentially being Superman/Batman of the CWverse is actually a very cool change, and it allows for some interesting story-telling avenues that with Batman/Superman would feel already done or overwrought.

I just hope they keep the stuff that makes Supergirl Supergirl. She's not a boyscout like Superman, she has a temper, more fun with using her powers, doesn't necessarily consider earth her home (at least not right away) stuff like that.

There was a pitch for Amazon that got backburnered/shitcanned once the DCCU started to be planned.
Now that they know for sure that the TVverse won't be connected to the Movieverse, maybe they will revive the project.

This.

There's no restriction on Wonder Woman, far as we know. Though I can't imagine they'll use her. Might use her villains though.

She should wear her classic skirt.

I would prefer her to have both pants and skirt. More practical while also keeping the iconic skirt.

Whatever they do I hope they keep the cape design from newer comics. It's badass

What is this embargo about?

Won't Arrow be able to use Batman villains anymore?

Villians can be used. Just no Gotham, Metropolis (not sure where they are going to have Supergirl live in the Arrowverse), Batman or Superman.

The city aspect seems silly but I am 100% supportive of the no Batman or Superman. A DC Universe where the big 3 are Green Arrow, The Flash, & Supergirl is a very unique concept and very refreshing.

This embargo will probably only cover Batman and Superman themselves. Considering Titans and Supergirl, the embargo seems to exist only for the big guys. I'd guess Lex Luthor and Joker are also off-limits.

Really on the city front? We have Gotham on Gotham. And what does it mean for Titans?

Yep, the producer of Arrow, Flash, and Supergirl said he can't use Gotham or Metropolis in the 3 shows.

Just throw Supergirl in New York, boom, done.

Arrow is in Starling (which is essentially San Francisco/Seattle), Flash is in the Midwest (Central City), and let Supergirl have the East Coast.

No more New York please. I know it fits for Metropolis and NY is my favorite city in the world
but im so tired of it on tv.

Then give her Detroit.

Then you have:

The Good Wife - Chicago
Person of Interest - New York City
Supergirl - Detroit

Detroit would be a real good fit actually. Down and out city, urban blight, perception of high crime, tension, corruption, need of hope.

I wonder if the cities embargo wasn't caused by Fox' Gotham instead of movies. Similiarly they might be saving Metropolis for Krypton/Supergirl. Networks might be demanding some exclusivity, like the way Constantine seems to have exclusivity on mystical side of DC

Character archetypes. The Flash is pretty in-line with Superman's characteristics. I wouldn't be surprised to see Supergirl line up more with Wonder Woman's.

Yep. TVerse's own Trinity. And the fact that they just follow the general guidelines (human, god, female god) instead of 1:1 translation of Batman/Supes/WW will only make it more interesting

No, I understand, I just think they won't go that way. Especially considering they're actually going out of their way to sub out Kara for Clark in basically every way they can.

edit: plus, like you said - we don't actually know how they're going to characterize Kara yet. But they don't necessarily need to map the trinity one to one in this new universe. Especially I don't think Diana is off limits to TV, so they COULD actually use her at some point.

Supergirl recently got a new, more armored look. No idea if it's permanent, but I wonder if the show could take some cues from it.

Titans can be set anywhere; they've never had a set city. It would be cool to see them use Jump City from the old cartoon.

Am I the only one who genuinely liked the cheesiness of the 80's movie?

"There's a Supergirl series coming."
"*Gasp!* You think we'll have a part?"

I wonder if they'll be able to showcase her speed, flight, and fighting as well as MOS did. I loved how they did that in MOS:

Very kinetic. How the hell are they gonna do this on a TV budget though. You could tell Smallville was fucking stretching it.

I think they'll be able to get decent flight shots. Foot speed, good ol'Smallville blur. For fighting it'll probably look more MCU than Dragon Ball.

Well..look how good Flash looks and CBS will be able to put a lot more money into this than CW ever could. I expect them go very hard into it, as they desperately need younger viewers.

heck..with MoS done and BvS filming I wouldn't be surprised if the CG team CBS gets would be able to use a lot of techniques and effects developed by their colleagues for those movies
