Kind of surprised the console sales were that high for Cyberpunk, given all the publicity and Sony pulling it from the Store.

So the Switch version of the Witcher 3 sold more each year than the Xbox version.

I guess the port was worth the effort
??? Where's the surprise? The game had been released on Xbox for several years, and in the years that coincided, it was a new release on Switch and a GamePass game on Xbox.... So, the Switch port probably cost much more than the Xbox console port.

In general, the data highlights the strength of the PC in these games. Among consoles, the distribution is generally consistent with the user base of each, except for a few years where this distribution doesn't adjust due to "circumstances" in favor of one platform or the other.

First of all, not copies it's revenue.
Makes it worse for consoles because the average selling price of PC is probably lower.
Second of all: Yeah, 2 thirds is large enough to be called destruction.
Nah, it isn’t. It’s a narrative you made up in your head. 40-60 is in no way a destruction, especially when it’s 3 platforms against one.
PS4 destroyed the Xbox One and it wasn't much higher than 2:1 in units.
There’s a big difference between 2:1 in a 1v1 and 3:2 in a 3v1. Consoles aren’t one individual entity you pit against PC. They’re all competing platforms, so framing it as consoles vs PC is comical.

Kind of horrifying that the consoles did almost 30% of cyberpunk 2020 revenue considering how awful the PS4/Xbo versions were and it being pulled from PSN.

And that 28% might be after taking away the refunds too.

I wonder how that 2020 Cyberpunk split would have been if they hadn't completely botched the console launch for that game.

The digital vs physical for Cyberpunk, I imagine, is because of how PC heavy the splits are, but I'd be curious to see what that's like for other games in 2025.

Well, I'm sorry you take issue with my terms of calling something a destruction. We'll just disagree on this.

You mean for Cyberpunk, right? :-D I sometimes like to image a what if scenario where CD Project Red does not sabotage it self with the original Cyberpunk console launch...

I don't think that has much to do with it. The console launches of Cyberpunk just had so much bad press (see the above comment about Sony pulling it from their store) that it's going to be hard to glean anything meaningful form the comparison.
I don't disagree. The botched launch definitely contributes to the totally lopsided ratio. I just feel PC may have a marginal lead even if it were good launch. All stats seem to point to FPS being more preferred on PC than consoles. And CDPR has a longer history with PC than consoles. If anything, I'm actually surprised how well the Witcher 3 has performed on consoles. It was one of the best games ever, after all, so I guess that would be a factor as well.

Kinda suprised at the amount sold on Switch after 2020.

Also suprised CP sold more on xbox than PS.
No shit it sold well on PC. Anyone could see it was a demanding game. Turns out it wouldn't even run on consoles.

I think FPS being preferred on consoles is a bit of outdated thinking, but that's just my gut talking as I haven't paid attention to the likes of COD and whatnot. CDPR's history didn't do much in regards to consoles for Witcher 3 which was a much more established franchise on PC though W2 did get a 360 port.

Oh my bad you're right, it's revenue, not units sold

The right play for Cyberpunk would have been to release it on PC first, allowing a more polished release, and then port it to PS5/SX a few months or a year later.

It would have preserved their reputation, allowed for a smoother, albeit staggered release, and very likely a much better console version.

No

The game was an unfinished mess across the board. Finish and polish your game rather than rushing it out
