I would not feel offended if someone called me a CDPR fanboy, I've been following the studio for 16 years (seriously), loved every game they made so far, but defending them in this situation I cannot understand. Not that a lot of people are doing this, but still.
It was their decision to choose what platform they develop for, they have been developing for PS4/X1 from the very beginning, and at the end they simply said things which were not true. And it was their decision to set the release date (and make it a single date instead of 2nd), and not drop the last gen (understandably, but if it cannot run this, why make fools of themselves?).
You don't even have to go into what was cut out from the game to feel pissed off. Ultimately, IMO, the product, when it is working, is fantastic, so a lot of that cut out stuff was cut out for a good reason or does not matter that much (though the lack of cyber psychosis threat, or shourtcuts regarding city AI hurt), but that doesn't matter. I really, really feel sorry that a lot of people launched the game not only to see it looks like shit (and that could be explained by the age of the hardware), but also is unplayable (and that cannot be excused in any way, because it is simply not a working product when frame rate drops below 20, and the bugs are so serious...).
And PC is also far from finished. I had so many crashes I lost count, I keep saving not because I don't want to die unexpectedly but because it can crash even when driving around the city. But then you have the story, writing, sidequests, characters, attention to details, character progression and gameplay - and all this core of the game is really, really superb, easy 10/10 for me. It also IMO shows that the game if optimized properly would defend itself on the consoles, because even if you ignore the graphics (and man it can look good), what remains can be outstanding.
So I also feel sorry for the developers, because seeing their hard work in this state must be infuriating. And I suppose they very well knew what is comming. Pondsmith must be also disappointed.
All in all I may be a fanboy but it only makes me hope they survive this and be able to continue and improve in the future. And that they patch this game so it works as it is supposed to. When you release one title every couple of years you really have to depend on it. I know I want a sequel, improved in every possible way - just as they did with the witcher series.
