CDPR officially apologises for hiding the console versions and promises quick updates and refund option

They should just abandon the old consoles.
Focus on making the game better on the stronger hardware instead of wasting time on the old stuff.

The game shouldn't have come out on last gen consoles.
It runs fine on current gen.

It's a PS5/XSX game trying to run on 7-year old hardware.

I don't agree with this.

If they can get RDR2 and GTAV running on last-gen, they can do CP2077. The issues those consoles have are simply due to complete lack of care and optimization, and a complete mis-read from top management to just release the game.

CP2077 really should have been an April 2021 release. Review scores would be higher, there wouldn't be much competition from other games, and it would not have received the backlash it has.

I feel like I should get a refund for my copy (playing on ps4 pro) but I just can't be bothered. I won't play it until the end of feb. Sad thing is there's probably legions of people like me.

Yeah agree. They also announced this game 8 years or something ago on last gen, and have been hyping it up on last gen the whole time. They knew it would sell the most for these systems, because they have the biggest install base. There's 113 million or so PS4s out there. They should have delayed it until it was playable on those systems, backlash about delays be damned.

I can't talk for the console versions, I'm having a blast on PC and that's why I'm always so forgiving, I can probably also understand why they decided to act like this (fiscal year, Christmas sells, styock holders), thing is that they will have to work double to recover from the scratch on Consoles owner fate.

Neither RDR2 or GTAV were built with DLSS or ray tracing in mind. It's not just that these consoles are old, but that CyperPunk is clearly built with much newer tech in mind.

Cyberpunk wasn't built with DLSS or Ray Tracing as a requirement. It's not. So I'm not sure why this is even being brought up.

You can scale down Cyberpunk to at least compare favorably with RDR2 and GTAV and there wouldn't be this level of backlash. Both of those games look great on last-gen consoles. They look better on other platforms, but they are completely playable and well optimized for last-gen in comparison to CP2077.

8mil people preordered this game. Who cares what the state of your game is when that many people preorder?

Stop. Preordering. Make companies prove to you they've produced a great product before you give them your money.

I sincerely think they should get sued for this, probably Sony and MS too, for refusing refunds.

Apologising after screwing millions of people over is not enough for what they pulled.

Good thing I never buy these games on launch day or, even worse, pre-order. I will never be fucked by these greedy fuckers

It just dawned on me. Didn't this game have some sort of Xbox marketing deal? If it did, that is rather ironic in that it essentially advertises why games need to go next gen only.

There's a lot more but they're in locked thread. At the end of the day, people thought, hoped and prayed that the day one patch would help avoid crisis
Well done for not reading the posts you're quoting, one was me relaying what YongYea said in his review, my other post you quoted was me using that information to say that maybe some minor glitches will be fixed, I never claimed it would fix everything of avoid crisis, just be a smoother experience.

Open world games like Ghost of Tsushima, Days Gone and Spider-Man look great and are excellent on consoles. Even Watch Dogs 3 and Valhalla. I don't see what's so advanced about Cyberpunk.

Ghost of Tsushima looks more impressive to me.

The braindance thing with Judy isn't a side mission. You literally haven't reached the game's title screen.

That's just bad game design. The boring desert section should be the tutorial/intro. The main game should start in the city.

I'm still just going around chatting and meeting people. Enough already. I have no clue what this game is about. What's my purpose.

The whole braindance section was so underwhelming, I couldn't wait for it to be over and down with, it was like the longest tutorial ever. Boring as hell!

Absolutely! I was shaking my head the whole time. Why am I doing this? I don't care. It's like one tutorial after the other.

Fucking hell this gave me a good laugh.

Because it's the truth lol. All the characters keep hounding you as soon as you don't touch the controller for 2 seconds. Like I'm on rails.

When Jackie calls, I'm right there. I just turn around and see him leave. Seriously? Is he my boyfriend?

Lots of things are just bad and piss me off.

They can´t abandon the old Consoles now, they shipped the game, they have a obligation to their userbase.

Damage has already been done though.

Bullshit. This shit stain was going to be released in April, even before the new gen consoles were available.

So they promise to finish the game in Feb. No mention of PS5/XBX. So maybe I'll plan for March.

Crunch is bad management and people's hero complex, making it feel like any endeavour is a critical battle for the ultimate prize.

CDPR knew or wilfully ignored the state of the game, forced crunch on their devs to hit a release date that was not practical and this crunch likely added its own bugs (but companies can count on other devs or customers who are also abused to justify the practice as a "well, I went through it so can you") as well as misled the public and a complicit press trying to get people locked into preorders.

CDPR was very close in fucking their employees out of 100% bonuses and users out of refunds if they had been a tad bit luckier and got more of their customers to do corporate apology for them and allow the company to release patch after patch and fix the worst of the worst bugs.

Crunch is a definitely a result of bad management. I honestly don't feel that bad concerning crunch. Sure some of the employees did crunch out of the hero complex and some bugs likely was added as a result of crunch but it could be that they also just didn't want to quit and find a new job or this game also just had a ridiculous amount of bugs even before the crunch even happened.

CDPR just showed that they are just another regular video game company. Folks are forgiving because they patch their games up after release because that has been the norm of late especially when it comes to pc gaming . Did the apology come after it was known that you could easily get refunds on the ps4 and xbox one?

I feel like I should get a refund for my copy (playing on ps4 pro) but I just can't be bothered. I won't play it until the end of feb. Sad thing is there's probably legions of people like me.

That is why they released it. The majority of folks on last gen aren't going to refund this game. So what if they offer refunds. They what refund a couple thousand but sell several million more. It's a great business move. They can just patch the pc version and next gen version, release dlc, and make this the best game ever eventually and folks will forget about all the controversysince they will probably end up buying on next gen when the hype starts building up when the dlc drops. Plus the majority of big name journalist played this on pc so they could release reviews on it so they didn't even encounter or even see half the issues that folks on last gen did so they will still be in love with cdpr.

If I had to guess, they may have tried to render more geometry on screen than the average open world game, as well as having more variety of textures than usual.

But the cost isn't worth the benefit if only the most powerful hardware can run it properly to see its intended visuals. Even then, is it really doing that much more to require said hardware? And that's a no.

Just spoke to a work colleague this morning. He had pre-ordered the disc version on his PS4 Pro and the copy was 2 days late but in those 2 days he came across all the negative reviews and promptly applied for a refund and got his money back.

He also has a decent laptop able to run the game and even refuses to pick it up on his laptop.

CDPR did a lot of damage. I'm sure there are many more like him who have both console and PC and won't pick the game up on either.

Dropped them a refund email, let's see how fast they reply. Or maybe this is scam part 2
Same.

I dropped 2 emails. Provided my PSN order number and other details. Will see if i get a response back. Stopped playing the game and haven't played for 2 days now.

this mindset is honestly so fucking ridiculously dumb.

"well other people did it so can we, right?"

fuck right off. Stop trying to normalise this practice
It's people like them that allow these developers to get away with releasing shoddy performing games on any platform.

This is AWESOME! It needs to drop more

Stock price fell from 443 PLN on December 4th to 265 PLN this morning (ended trading on Friday at 320 PLN).

Needs to drop more?
You're looking to buy?

Everybody knows stocks don't fluctuate. Once they're in the red, is downhill all the way. Just how the stock market works. And you're celebrating this? A full refund doesn't quench the thirst for whatever it is you're thirsty for? Thanks for providing another insight into human nature.

This is just wrong on so many levels. I can agree that wishing for them to be destroyed is a bit much, but that is in fact NOT the way the stock market works..

It's interesting how games with xbox marketing deals always have trouble

Wow, I never really though about it but, with very few exceptions, yeah. I feel like the last 9 years has ben a roller-coaster for the Xbox with a few highs and a few lows...what happened?

They're like the "Glass Jaw Joe's" of the big console makers, they keep getting knocked out yet their still coming back to fight.

I was being sarcastic...
Obviously...that is...not...how the stock...market...works.

I have a vivid recollection. After one of TW3 delays, their stock fell by around 10%, if I remember correctly. You can look at the graph to learn what happened afterwards. Evidently, this ordeal has just started and has the potential to be much more devastating than a simple delay. But the stock market tends to be dynamic. If I remember correctly they have a number of institutional investors behind them, including a few considerable Polish and international funds.

They have offered a full refund.

So I don't quite see what this particular gamer would stand to gain from their stocks plummeting, except that he'd be able to buy them really cheap.

Somehow I don't think that's what he has in mind.

I'm so glad I'm the type of gamer that never buys games day 1. Let everyone else beta test the game for full price while I buy the GotY edition with all the patches and DLC for dirt cheap down the line.

They should have just bit the bullet earlier this year (when they cancelled the initial April release) and nixed the last gen versions completely, then carried on working on the game until late 2021 when most people would have switched over to the new gen. It wouldnt have been great, but it would have been a lot better than multiple delays followed by a game that still feels badly unpolished and unfinished.

Looks blurry but, is it really all that bad? We're talking about fairly old hardware here
Sub 720p
Horrendous texture/object pop-in
Framerates down to 10FPS at its worst
The game is literally unplayable on base Xbox One. How many current gen games hit 10FPS?

AS FOR THE BOLDED: I see this same line in almost every Cyberpunk thread.
If current gen consoles could not handle or was incapable of running the game then why did they release the game on current gen ??

It's a real crash fest lately. Yesterday I had one crash now it crashes every half hour still love it 🤣 but it's a joke they released it like this...

I do have faith that CDPR is gonna fix this game on current gen, but I think they drastically underestimated what that would take.

Porting Cyberpunk to base console is not as simple as just loading a config with low settings. They're gonna have to do a lot more bespoke optimization, re-coding the way certain effects work and streamlining problem areas by hand, re-baking assets, that kind of thing. They vastly overestimated the ability of their game to just scale down.

They should seriously pull in the team from Saber Interactive who ported Witcher 3 to Switch and have them give it a go.
Exactly

Tackling 8 SKUs at the same time was madness. And its clear that they havent optimized for any version. PS5, Series X and PC are just brute forcing it.

They should have given it to Saber. Those guys are really amazing at optimizing stuff for weaker consoles. I'm sure that we would have gotten better versions for base consoles, while at the same time, CDPR could have focused on the next gen patch.

Again, that's to blame on mismanagement. They would have to pay some money to Saber, of course. But look at how much money they are loosing now, not to mention the PR mess.

Fucking idiots.

8 million preorders , just wonder how many were from PS4 Xbone owners
....I did not preordered it because those delays were an alarm , all the hype was similar to No Mans Sky and we got similar results regarding last gen consoles...

The Playstation support just told me I won't get a refund because a patch is coming out that's gonna fix the game. Man, I wish I got it on the Xbox, those guys have 10 times the support service.

I mean just theoretically ... there should be some kind of info they you need network connection for proper experiance? Can't you just say that there were no info about having to download a patch to get playable experiance and you wan't to refund because you dont have network connection or something like this.
