CDPR officially apologises for hiding the console versions and promises quick updates and refund option

Quick update... After talking to sony support on the phone for the second time they still refusing the refund. Bitches.
TBH in a legal manner CDPR did the right thing here - go to where you bought the game, PSN, XBL or physical store and deal with it there. If I buy e.g. LG TV from Amazon and it's defective I do not deal with LG, I deal with Amazon.

Another matter is their wording on Monday that made it seem there is some agreement in place between platform holders and CDPR regarding refunds. This was unlikely to happen as it would have created a precedent of refund policies being different for each title, which Sony and Microsoft would never want (plus it's probably a logistical nightmare).

CDProjekt and the entire world expected tons of GOTY awards for this game, ironically they will get tons of FOTY awards (Failure of the year).

Thats a different situation and a flawed example; that's when you have a faulty unit of a working, non flawed product.

The closest analogy to this situation would be a mass recall of defective products due to a design flaw, which, of course, would either be run by the company directly OR the company would organise in advance of the recall the logistics of returns and refunds with the stores they supply.

The company doing the mass recall would not simply say "go to your retailer with your used product and get a refund" and say nothing to the retailers first. What CDPR did was not correct "in the legal manner", nor in the moral manner either.

Fair point, I get what you mean. I guess then it boils down to the definition of faulty.

Does the game run on last-gen? Yes, but it runs like shit
Does it crash all the time? No
Was the game certified as fit for release by both Microsoft and Sony? Yes

I can imagine for last-gen owners (especially the ones with base XBox and PS4) the whole situation is terrible. I would be curious if, given what CDPR said, game was certified 'in good faith' Microsoft and Sony cannot just 'recall' all the digital versions and charge back CDPR.

The question is what will they do for people who want a refund for a physical version?

They clearly point people having difficulty to the helpmerefund email address....🤔

What's worse?

MS and Sony giving certification for last gen versions of 2077, or Nintendo giving LJN's NES games their Seal of Approval?

lol

Do you remember a time when people who had not even played Cyberpunk were saying, no game had a chance against it for GOTY, it would be the biggest and highest rated game...TLOU 2 had no chance etc.....I always said, I wish Cyberpunk went up for GOTY this year, even with a 90, it would not defeat LOU, but now with all these issues, not even just the bugs, but the A.I, the mostly empty streets, soul-less missions, the lack of interactivity and the plummeting Meta. I don't think Cyberpunk will even be nominated next year....There are too many big hitters next year and they will have superior graphics, better polish, better A.i and physics by a huge margin....Cyberpunk is not even on the level of GTA3 for A.i and interactivity. Night City is just a soul-less world in too many respects...

All this certification talk since the start of this controversy is tiring. It has nothing to do with gameplay bugs. Save/load, PS/home button, capture, rest mode, stuff like that. That's it.

An ignorant child used this to blame Sony/Microsoft somehow and now I see it everywhere. People are even using the certification BS to get refunds now? GAF should know better than spreading that nonsense.

Do you expect Sony and MS to QA thousands of games for third-parties?

I'm perfectly happy with Playstation taking some of the heat, even if this ain't their blunder. Their policies and customer service are total crap. The more people know the better.

Don´t get me wrong but in this case they should have been a leak or something. A leak of the gameplay of the PS4 version and Xbox One/S this game run like crap in last gen. Anyhow this is another lesson not to preorder games. I knew that this was going to run like crap on last gen. They only showed the PC version and it was obvious. I will wait for the next gen update.

There were many, CDPR had people making sure every leak was taken down within an hour, even on more obscure upload websites that usually don't get taken down.

You had some meth heads streaming the PS4 version a week or two before launch? CDPR went into damage control, promising the day 1 patch would iron everything out and they prepped a quick trailer with Pro and One X footage...

New refund email received. So we will send physical discs back to CDPR at their cost.

There's also an option to exchange for the GOG or Steam version.

Got my refund from CDPR, deposited to Paypal. I was expecting to have to ship the disc first.

So does this mean I can keep it, lol?

Insert a blank rewritable DVD in the case. Tell them you checked the case and you were sure the correct disc was there. Then email them a 10-months long roadmap detailing the steps you'll eventually take to give them the promised disc.

Bonus points if you write the email on yellow background.

(just taking this as an example, but I've seen quite a number of people who got to keep their game AND the refund)

But piracy is bad, right?

I was beginning to think preordering the physical copy was the worst option, seeing everyone getting their refunds for digital. Not that I want to play it now though.

But good on CDPR for gifting me their game I guess. I'd say I was fairly compensated for all the wasted time.

What piracy? If i was in this situation, I would give them the empty disc but i would have all intentions to give back the original disc.

First of all, I would be deeply sorry for the incident and i'd make sure it would be a valuable lesson going forward.

Second, I would have taken steps to remedy the incident and will share them with CDProjekt in the near future (but only if and after they discover the fake disc)

Last of all, i would take procedures to prevent this from happening again.

In the coming months the disc would be returned as initially promised, again I would reiterate again how deeply sorry I would be for hiding the original disc from them.

Sincerely.

the game has no drm i can literally go with a thumbdrive to a friend's house copy the game paste it on my pc and play it the original version for free (or download it from anywhere) and you think cdpr gives a crap about you returning your disk? if you want to be a piece of shit person it's your choice. that's their philosophy

i know it's difficult for console players to get that but cdpr really is a consumer friendly company. at least for now. let's see what happens after this shitstorm. the dark side is powerful cdpr. don't be afraid of that power
