Cemu Thread: Emulating Wii U Games

I had this problem before. I have a Nvidia card.

To fix it, i had to disable vsync on the Nvidia panel and enable it on the emulator. If you want you can just create a Cemu profile and disable Nvidia Vsync from there.

Wow, this did the trick, thanks!!
But I have *no* idea how vsync on driver-level would have anything to do with the shader-cache loading behaviour. Do you or someone else here have an explanation for this?

Hi,
sorry - I'm sure this has been asked before, but I couldn't find a solution with the search:
Every (!!) time I load up a game CEMU is "compiling shader caches" from scratch, taking several minutes depending on the game (for instance, I have a large transferable cache for MK8 with ~9000 shaders).
For my understanding (what I got out of google etc.), it should only re-compile when:
- i update cemu
- i update the nvidia driver
But i have to go through this every single time i load a game.
I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, what is it??

You mean the settings.bin?
Tried that - with no avail :(

I don't know if it was the settings.bin file, cant't remember. I had a somewhat similar issue. The loading would take forever and when i got ingame i had sub 10fps even though i had 30 before.

I have no idea but Nvidia drivers are getting worse every new update with Cemu. Like how it now eats up more than 16GB of RAM when i load BotW shaders. I have to use several GBs of virtual RAM for the PC to not crash because i "only" have 16GB of RAM.

grass
collision
water
runes
lighting

fixed flickering in twilight princess

fixed dark lighting in smash

j e s u s
hope the flickering fix fixes up bayonetta and lighting fix fixes up pikmin

Real nice progress! With an fps boost...my god.

Hope they work out a way to get the x1 controller triggers to both work as well. [screw it, just set up my wiiu pro controller with pc]

So glad I can just resume this on PC from my wiiu save.

I usually refrain from saying hyperbolic things on GAF regarding technicals (magic etc), but darn, that is some lightning fast progress.

It will be especially interesting in the coming months how much the graphics can be enhanced in ways beyond resolution. Like making grass be affected by AO, grass casting shadows, increasing internal volumetrics resolution, etc. That is when the game basically starts turning into a PC port of the Wii U version :P

Some users seems to get 30 fps everywhere (even in the towns) due to using all the tweaks and having great rigs

like this one guy that has a 7700k running at 5.3ghz (with one physical core disabled to improve overclockability)

basically running the game better than both the switch and the wii u, at higher resolutions

I said "oh shit" out loud when I started that video and saw the grass, and then I kept smiling when I saw all the other fixes! Amazing progress, I'm really happy for the Cemu devs.

This is indeed pretty amazing, and I will definitely enjoy my second preview that way.

What is interesting is that grass can actually be affected by AO, under a certain condition, which is to be inside a shadowed area. I cannot assure that this will happen every single time, but this is what I observed many times during my playthrough.

Quite a peculiar decision, maybe in order not to stress the engine too much, or maybe purely for esthetical reasons since the SSAO buffer being definitely (very) low res, thus flickery, it would affect the overall visual quality.

Holy crap they fixed everything?!

I expected them to fix 1-2 things, but that's something. :lol

That 20k$ doing some work. Devs must've worked their asses off to fix so much stuff.

Hoping we will be able to get something close to this.

It's mentioned in the patreon post, we're able to now respecify color bit-depths. Would be nice if someone could figure a way to reduce the color banding when you pull up the menu.

Sorry if this has been answered a dozen times, but after searching around there still doesn't seem to be a definitive answer about the best way to dump your games. There are several homebrew apps now, but I've read that at least one won't dump in a format CEMU is compatible with. I'm also not sure if you can dump digital titles on an external HDD... I really wish this was as simple and clear as the Wii, where you just needed cleanrip and that was it. What does everyone who has backed up their collection for CEMU consider to be the best method available at the moment?

That's some extremely impressive progress. I guess I'll just have to wait for a one or two more rounds of performance improvements now.

Can't wait until they find some way to get rid of the weird anti-aliasing thing around all the characters. That includes Zelda, Mario 3D World, Mario Kart...probably lots of others but I didn't get the chance to check every games from a close view.

Does this emulator primarily require CPU power? My PC has a decent CPU (i7 3770k @4.5ghz) but a very outdated GPU (660gt).

Maybe it's time I stop playing my WiiU version? I would rather finish the rest of the game on PC.

I thought about it but I usually play Zelda games at least twice.

I figure enjoy the game on my Wii U and come back in a couple years and play it on CEMU.

I admit, I play Zelda mostly in bed too but that's because it looks awful on the TV and I can stomach the fps much easier on the gamepad as a portable title.

But it's nice lazy gaming in bed.

I've been very curious about an Nvidia shield tablet with bluetooth controllers that the screen slides into.

Would be great for rocket league, redout, gtav, zelda etc. Though I'm not sure the pega controller has analogue triggers or clickable sticks.

Though I tried cemu with my wiiu zelda save and it's pretty sweet on PC with a nice controller and high resolution too. Looking forward to the new update with those fixes on the 9th, hope there's some performance improvements coming not too long after too.
