Nebraska is going to get curbstomped once in a while, this isn't 1995 anymore, there are more teams with more money out there now.
There's a difference between a bad loss and what happened Saturday. Big time programs don't have repeated instances of the latter. How many times do opposing teams have to set new records for opposing offensive statistics before we realize this isn't just something that "happens once in a while." We're not an FCS program and we shouldn't be accepting of, or excusing of, results that make us look like one. There have always been programs with more money than Nebraska but we're still one of the most financially healthy athletic programs out there and there's absolutely no excuse to not be in the top 15 and look like we belong there almost every year. Either we make big changes to the staff or we're stuck as a mid tier program for the next 15 years.
Beck is terrible at making adjustments and general playcalling after scripted series have been run. Ross Els is terrible at everything. He can't get the linebackers to run fit properly, can't coach special teams, and isn't a great recruiting coordinator. Barney Cotton serves no purpose on the staff with Garrison there, I don't give a shit how buddy buddy he is with the HC he's dead weight and takes up a slot for the number of coaches we can have present at a game. Papuchis serves no purpose with Bo there and shouldn't ever have been promoted to DC. To add to all of that we're probably one of the few big programs out there that continues to run without a QB coach. Fire all those guys, replace them with guys that actually coach technique and aren't just staring blankly at the field 80% of the time. When our QB comes off the field he should be getting talked to about what he saw on the field or what he should be looking for every damn time instead of just sitting on the bench doing nothing. We might not be able to get rid of Pelini but he damn well better make some staff changes before this starts snowballing and gets out of control.
It's nice to be loyal to your staff but if they're not performing, as has been shown for years now, they get a swift boot to the ass and are replaced.
Rivalry game + Wisconsin saw what happened when you let up on the gas against Nebraska, we come back. They don't show us any mercy.
No one on either sideline thinks of this as a rivalry. Anyone with even a small football background will tell you that Wisconsin wasn't doing anything special. It was simple football executed well with a Nebraska defensive back seven that kept getting out of position with respect to their run responsibilities.
