CFB Week 3: The playoffs really did make the regular season pointless.

Golden Domers are chickenshit!!
You guys better be talking about UCF's destiny as the champion of the first ever college football playoff, people
Don't worry. We're tracking it.

I... I don't think so? Of whom do you speak?

So, from those who played it, is Destiny a buy or not?

Just wait for a sale...there is almost no game worth getting at launch for $60. If the game doesn't have anybody still playing it by the time Black Friday rolls around, it probably isn't that good a game to begin with.

True... but my PS4 has been begging for some love.

Speaking of priorities, I don't have any furniture for my new house, but I just got back from Best Buy an hour ago where I bought a new 55" TV. Needed it, too. My old main TV is not making the move with me. It's a 40", almost 7 years old, but it has an image retention problem. College football will be awesome with the new screen. Florida State/Clemson September 20? Yes indeed.

Phantasy Star Online with better graphics.

When somebody compared Warframe to PSO a while back I literally went from zero interest to installing the game in less than a minute.

Your post probably means I'll be buying a next gen console AND the game in under a week.

Except PSO was almost purely a melee game versus a shooter. Isn't the standard Borderlands plus Halo comparison more accurate? I haven't played Destiny so just going off of videos.

My memory of PSO is pretty hazy, but weren't the majority of the classes (ie RA- and FO-) primarily ranged?

In any event, the basic gameplay is obviously more modern in Destiny, but a lot of the fundamental architecture is pretty similar to PSO the more I think about it: hub world, large discrete levels, small-team multiplayer focus, mission-based story progression, boss fights against huge things, etc.

Seriously? Cuz I hated Borderlands.

I thought borderlands was a terrible game and never ever got the love for it.Missions were boring, loot seemed so meh, and enemies were just giant bullet sponges. This game feels pretty much like halo with people, open worldyness, and loot. I liked the beta (havent played full retail) and i played the beta by myself and thought it was fun.

So, online-only borderlands? FPS-loot whore type of game?

The game had fuck all in terms of loot in the Beta. It didn't scratch any loot whoring itches for me.

Its borderlands, but you know, actually fun and good.

It has no loot. Comparisons to Borderlands are instantly invalidated. Also Borderlands was mostly open world, Destiny feels a lot more instanced, but maybe the final version is different.

Destiny felt even more barren and empty than Borderlands. I guess its like Halo with the least amount of RPG mechanics they could be bothered to put in.

Wow. Holy SHIT guys. This week is THAT bad to the point we have a whole page discussing the nuances of a videogame.

I'm not even complaining or telling you young punks to take it outside, because this week really is THAT bad.

That said, I have a few games I will definitely be watching this week, but the real fun doesn't get started until next week, it appears: Auburn at K State, Clemson at Florida St, Oklahoma at West Virginia, Undefeated Cal at Undefeated Arizona...wait... That's it?!?!

Week 5 can't come soon enough!

The first two weeks or so of every season for like 10 years has been this way. We get maybe 2 real games a week and a bunch of paid beat downs. Until scheduling is unified, and FCS games are banned. And considering people are already saying the B1G is done after 2 weeks I don't expect teams to start scheduling tougher.

All right, I updated the rankings sheet to include your "Total Pts" along with your "Score". Your score is your adjusted value after your lowest week is removed, and is the primary basis for rankings. Secondary basis is total points.

True... but my PS4 has been begging for some love.

Get Last of Us then. I'm still playing that and much prefer it to Destiny.

I played the Destiny beta and alpha and it was a lot of fun, but I'm not getting it for now. I don't like that the co-op takes places on "planets" which is really just one big map, but there are only 4-5 of them. They will surely add more via DLC. I just don't like that model and don't like the fact that what I'll be getting is pretty sparse until I pay more beyond the $60. The gameplay itself is fun and yeah, pretty reminiscent of Borderlands, but with better gun feedback. You can tell that this is made by the same studio that made Halo. It's definitely a loot game. You'll constantly be getting a new set of gauntlets or a helmet that you'll be looking at stats on to see if it's better than what you have, and then swapping it out. You'll find unknown items that you have to take to an NPC and pay them some ingame currency to tell you what it is. That ingame currency doesn't tie to real money, you just collect it during co-op missions.

The multiplayer is really good. If you're into Halo, it'll feel very familiar, though I think it's more a mashup of Halo and CoD.

Thanks, man. I guess I'll wait on it for now.

I can't wait until FCS teams are banned. Then we will stop losing to them.

How is the awkwardness not immediately apparent to anyone working on that?

I mean, you'd imagine like... the graphic designer, or one of the marketing people, or someone would have pointed it out.

Celebrate cotton...
Wear black...

Maybe I'm just too dumb to draw any other conclusions, but come on, Texas Tech.

You can see their initial thinking: Arkansas wears red and white, we wear red and black, therefore let's not wear any red and only wear black. This is the thinking behind every red/white/blue/black out.

But then no one had the self-awareness to realize that doing this on Celebrate Cotton Day (a tradition apparently?) might not be the brightest idea.

Haha, apparently last year they had a white out to celebrate it, which is also a little tone deaf.
