Basically it says that the 67 year old chairman of the pedo association 'Martijn' was arrested for the possession of child pornography. He claimed he used the movies and pictures for research. He stopped eating and shooting insulin since he was arrested, to protest.

Sinds zijn aanhouding op 29 maart heeft hij niet meer gegeten en geen insuline gespoten, meldt de vereniging op zijn website.
De arrestatie van Van den Berg volgde op een huiszoeking in oktober. De politie nam toen computers en laptops mee met daarop grote hoeveelheden films en foto's. Het bleek om kinderporno te gaan.

Volgens Martijn heeft Van den Berg uit protest tegen zijn arrestatie sinds dinsdag niet meer gegeten en geen insuline meer gespoten. Hij heeft ook drie dagen niets gedronken, maar dat 'ging hem te snel'.
Hij wil wel weer stoppen met drinken als hij woensdag niet wordt vrijgelaten. Die dag beslist de rechtbank in Haarlem wat er verder met de man moet gebeuren.

Van den Berg kondigde naar aanleiding van de huiszoeking in al aan dat hij in hongerstaking zou gaan als hij werd opgepakt. De Haarlemmer vindt dat hem onrecht wordt aangedaan.
Hij zou de films en foto's gebruiken voor 'onderzoek'. Van den Berg is volgens de pedofielenvereniging sinds zijn aanhouding 5,5 kilo afgevallen.

why wouldnt it be legal? they're allowed to organize and promote their views just as much as any other group.

being a pedophile isnt illegal, raping children is illegal. possessing child porn is illegal. forming a support group to coop with their attraction within the bounds of the law or for lobbying for changes to the law is perfectly fine.

Well, I don't think there is more tolerance for this in Holland than anywhere else in the world. Legally there just isn't much that can be done. Not that I think this is a good thing, but as Pandaman said, these people are allowed (by law) to organize in such a way just as any other group.. Is there a law against this in the UK or USA?

in a just and reasonable society, we can allow these people to lobby and still keep them from ever achieving what they want. we dont have to exterminate them when being consistent with our standards will work just as well. sure it will be harder and sure it can be grating with such a volatile topic, but its the right thing to do.
