He may not be walking into the camera in that shot near the end- perhaps it is the wall of the Great Glass Elevator.

No, they're clearly in the room where the kid gets shrunk into the TV, so he probably is running into the camera, and in that context that joke actually can work.

After watching the teaser a few more times, Depp's Wonka grew on me a bit ... there's a malice to his relentless mugging and childish behavior that gives the character an evil edge. Go Depp!

Agreed...I think that he's just weird and creepy enough to work.

I'll admit to being TERRIFIED of the original as a kid. Like, absolutely terrified. Not even sure why. He also did the Colin Mochrie dance; yeah, it's probably not trademarked, but it made me laugh and think of him anyways,

Wilder's Wonka is brilliant and I was hoping Burton wouldn't stray far.

Seeing a fresh, original take on something that retains the overall spirit of the source material is fine by me. It's why I liked Sleepy Hollow so much. Between the Disney cartoon, the original Washington Irving, and countless made-for-TV versions, it was nice to see something different, but still familiar. I'm expecting less with Wonka - obviously - but this looks a bit more trippy and/or sinister than the original, and I'm all for that.

Burton is such an over rated director it hurts. His faux "wierd" style bugs the hell out of me and the simple fact that there isn't a single scene in any of his movies that is well crafted or memorable speaks volumes about him as a "talent"

Your attempt to derail this thread will not succeed.
