Lucy Liu is reportedly to star in an updated version of Charlie Chan.

The Hollywood Reporter says that Dan McDermott will write the project, whilst Jennifer Klein will produce.

Lucy Liu would executive produce the picture, as well as starring as the granddaughter of the Chinese-Hawaiian detective.

"It's a reinvention of the franchise that credibly passes on the baton to Lucy Liu as the lead character and lead of the franchise," explained McDermott.
