Will there be a PlayTV 2 that will be released soon?
I thought I read something about that, or is it just a software update?

Pretty sure it is just a software update and that it went live like two or three weeks ago.

Bit of conformation from Wikipedia

On 23 August 2010, details of a new update (version 2.01) were revealed. While part of the update is free, an unlock key must be purchased from the PlayStation Store in order to access some of the features (listed below). The update was released on 17 November 2010

Premium services offered with the 2.01 update:

Series Link - record a whole series at the touch of a button. (UK ONLY)
Chat TV - live chat for up to 64 users during TV viewing.
Recommendations - recommend shows to your friends via Facebook.
Community favourites - Lets you see what your friends and the PSN Community are watching and enjoying. (Not available in Australia)
Premium 7 day EPG - Electronic Programme Guide. (standard PlayTV programme guide only in Australia)
Search by actor, director and genre.

On 6 December 2010, another update (2.02) was released

Extra £6 off at Zavvi when you use the code "HAPPY6MAS" and spend over £60.

May be worth using in the post Xmas sales and may also stack with other codes (but it didn't work with my unique 10% code due to a late Xmas delivery of an item).

Tempted to get 8400 Live points for £57.80...

Is there anybody left apart from ShopTo that will still deliver in time for Christmas?

Amazon still will, although I'd pay the lower of the two shipping costs to be sure you're in with a chance.

Although, if the snow gets worse / stays stuff could get out of their hands, and your stuff may get stuck in the post :/

I ordered two games from them Wednesday, and they came today (UK to Ireland). That was free shipping too. Great work from them :)

Just an fyi, I got this from Amazon today in relation to an order I placed earlier in the week.

Dear Customer,

Ensuring that you receive your order in time for Christmas is our number one priority.

The recent weather conditions have resulted in backlogs across the entire UK for our delivery partners, but we are in constant communication with them and are working around the clock to make sure that orders with an estimated delivery time before December 24, arrive in time for Christmas.

We are currently experiencing an increased volume of e-mails and phone calls into our customer service centre. This is causing delays to our usual speed of response but rest assured, we are working through all enquiries in order of receipt.

There are some useful self-service links that allow you to see the details of your order and its current status. You can access these by visiting Your Account.

If your order has already been dispatched via a trackable method, please use the tracking information on your confirmation e-mail or in 'Your Account' to track your delivery via the relevant carrier website.

If your order was dispatched via a non-trackable method, please rest assured that your item is on its way to you now.

If your order has not yet been dispatched please check 'Your Account' regularly where you will find the most up-to-date information regarding dispatch dates and estimated delivery dates.

We appreciate your patience and understanding.

With kind regards,

Brian McBride

Managing Director, Amazon.co.uk

I got that - the item in question arrived two days ago. It's just a coverall if a delivery window is still open for an item so there is still hope.

When does Mega Monday start effectively ? At midnight in the UK ?

Pretty sure you already missed Mega Monday, it was a couple weeks ago I think? There's always the Steam sale which starts tomorrow.

Remember guys, Steam Christmas sale is tomorrow. So don't go spending money on something you might get cheaper.

Zavvi has Mega Monday every monday.

Thank you so much, my heart stopped when I read above. I just want to be sure to get as much choice as possible when the deals begin. That's way I was asking.

Agreed, but some deals here hover around 10 £, will we really get something comparable with Steam ?

I think it starts around 18.00-20.00 UK time. I usually get the "Monday sneak preview" mail at 19:30 Finnish time.

Strangely enough, I checked my mail box and the Mega Monday seemed to have been labelled Sale Now On this time. And it is on right now !

My links provided above are part of this deal.

edit :

Lost Planet 2 @ £ 11.95 - X360 (PS3 version too)
Medal of Honor @ £ 17.95 - X360 (PS3 too)
Bioshock 2 Rapture Edition @ £ 7.95 - PC
Tatsuneko vs Capcom @ £ 9.95
Kingdom Hearts : 358/2 Days @ £ 9.95

I guess it's a holiday thing to boost up the sales a bit. So we'll probably not get any specific monday deals this week.

That zavvi sales pretty good, I want resonance and nier.

They sent me an email right after I ordered Maijin yesterday saying it had been despatched which is good as I wanted to claim it as an xmas present from my sisters :lol

Oh, okay, my bad. Though not much point ordering from Zavvi at the moment, you won't get it till after Christmas and probably not even till the new year.

If it were the limited edition MoH for that price I might be tempted just for the Battlefield 3 Beta, but for the standard edition, yea no thanks.

Guessing retail is having a hard time this Christmas, saw a lot of stuff discounted before the Holiday in many shops.
It seems each year the January sales are pushed back, first it was boxing day, then Christmas eve...whats a few extra days. Plus with the weather killing a week effectively you've got catching up to do.

Because the majority of the money is spent before Christmas, as gifts. So by doing it early you are removing revenue.. I dunno seems counter productive. Not that I am complaining. I don't buy anything.

Morrisons have confirmed they are doing £29.99 on Call of Duty Black Ops (360/PS3) from Monday morning until Christmas Eve (or until stock runs out). Nationwide, across UK. Instore only.

30 quid for codblops still isn't cheap enough for me. Also I lol'd that the 360/PS3 Lost Planet 2 is cheaper than the PC version at Zavvi.

Boxing day and January sales have occured every year. Reason why its more apparent in the last few years is weather, and the reason this year because VAT goes to 20% its stores trying to get people in stores and spend big that is all. Doesn't really apply to games but John Lewis for example brings products in their stores just for the sales.

Kinect (and Kinect Adventures) + 2 More Games (360) - £179.97 @ Argos

Choices available:
Joyride
Kinect Sports
Dance Central
Kinectimals

Reserve and collect (if your local has all 3 items available) and shipping available.

Talk about a bad time for getting ill. Morrisons had the 4GB + Kinect bundle for £199, with my staff discount would have been £179. Since I called in sick though, there was absolutely no way I could show my face in the store. I've heard it's going back up in price, and knowing Morrisons, it'll be tomorrow =(

Hahah still no Dead Rising 2 shipped from Zavvi. Fucking hell.

Over 3 weeks now I think.
Yeah.

And I wish they'd fuck off with emailing me with offers on games that they already emailed me to say they're struggling to get hold of, even though they were 'in stock' when ordered.

Assholes. Never using them again.

Few other things from Play

Hitman Blood Money [Classic] (360) - £7.99 (this seems to be on it's last legs, loads of places out of stock, so this will probably be the cheapest it ever gets)
Gunblade NY & LA Machineguns (Wii) - £9.99
Pure Football (360/PS3) - £4.99 (now the price matches the quality!)
Geometry Wars: Galaxies (DS) - £4.99 (another one with little stock elsewhere)

Also:

Front Mission Evolved (Xbox 360) - £9.78 @ Amazon (it's not the main listing, check righthanded coloum)

Ah didn't know about the VAT, that explains it.

They'll just cancel the order like they always do. :(

No, I don't think so. This seems legit (not the really low price mistakes they normally do). They seem to have updated their backend system, but have not altered the price on the page yet.

If you want it, you lose nothing by trying anyway.
