Update: Doesn't look like this thing is going on in Germany right now, so it might be an Austria only thing.

Is there a good place to buy instant codes for XBL points in the UK other than ShopTo? They're sold out of 2100 point codes and I don't want to spend £32 on 4200.

Thanks, just ordered! Currys were doing a similar deal a couple of days ago and it seems like an inverntory clear out so it should be legit.

That price seems right...the 250gb is the old stock, isn't it? 'Cos I thought the 320gb was the replacement and they were clearing stock of the 250gb.
 
If I wasn't waiting weeks for some christmas pay I am owed i'd be over that ps3 right now, but I'm skint so I can't :(

Yeah it's old stock now as is the 120GB, 160GB and 320GB are the new models.

Thanks, I had forgotten about the exclusive crap they've pulled over here :( I will not pay 84 euros for the play version. No way. Vanilla version it is, then, unless it changes closer to the release. Bah :(

Edit: Hang on, the CE is a bit overkill, since the Limited Edition contains Extraction with move support as well. That's the version I meant anyway :D 56 euros is a lot better.

Edit2: And the regular places are still cheaper than play. Woo.

They're not refunding you money that they have no reason to refund you, as you chose to pay a price that they advertised for a product? And you're shocked? It's hardly shady: if they refunded every customer who got annoyed that a product decreased in value - as every single product ever does - they would be out of business.

If the £4 means that much to you, send it back for a refund (which will cost you 96p postage) and order the other copy from somewhere else.

They refunded people who bought PS3s just prior to a price drop, so why can't they refund me, a person who paid a mere couple of hours before the drop for something a tenth of the value?

That's not even the worst part - they won't be dispatching it until tomorrow, which means that I have not even gotten the game any sooner by paying more. They didn't even let me cancel the order despite it sitting there waiting in their fucked up system. Anyone else would have let me cancel in this downtime of many days, but no, Amazon is right and I have to take it up the ass. All this while they haven't even sent it and could easily cancel it for me if they wanted to.

It's a fucking joke. Even the email they sent me was garbage to the tune of "we win this time, but please buy cheap shit from us again for more opportunities to save it back".

Don't even get me started on the fact that this shit is going to take a week to get here now. Amazon suck, and their checkout is hideous and ridiculously ad-laden on purpose.
 
That's really surprising that Amazon won't do anything. They've always bent over backwards to give me good customer service...
 
An illustration of two different types of customer service:

Simply Games:

The Vanquish they sent me got its case torn up in the mail. Mailed customer service, they answered quickly and they apologized on the behalf of Royal Mail and promised to immediately send a replacement case.

Grade: A+

Zavvi:

Cancelled my Enslaved order a month or so ago. They still charged my card though, and after a week I mailed wondering where my refund was. They took a week to answer and said it was on its way. Mailed them again a couple of weeks later. Got an answer today, a week later, saying THEY NEVER CHARGED ME FOR THE GAME. So they took my money and then denied it.

Grade: FFFFFFFFF
 
I often find that it's the lesser known shops that provide the best service.

Coolshop - fast and free postage, good loyalty system, often the cheapest prices around

TheGameCollection - great prices, fast delivery. Even explicitly specify if an item is new but unsealed. Just an honest and good shop.


Personally i've never had a problem with ShopTo either. They used to be the cheapest around, but have since fallen by the wayside to Zavvi. They have really tried to put on a good service though after that credit card fiasco, with the Paypal support, the first class recorded delivery and the guaranteed day policy. Even replaced my missing Modern Warfare 2 free of charge.
 
^ ShopTo have been good to me also, yet to have a problem with them.

I stopped using zavvi/thehut a month back, I bought a game they said that they had in stock yet it took them 3+ weeks to post it, along with taking my money instantly so I was unable to cancel it was rather suck. THeir cockup with postings this christmas is also low grade.

Time to move on they had their fun, obviously dropping customer support to save some cash where they think it's not needed.
 
I just read the OP. I always wondered why Shopto was banned from GAF, now I know. For the record I haven't had any problems and the shipping has been nothing short of fantastic even to the other side of the world only taking 4 working days in some cases.
 
I've never had a problem with ShopTo either. They've always been fast and painless.

On the contrary, I had an awful experience with Zavvi when I preordered Vanquish with them, cancelled it and then they sent it anyway 4 days later, and were awful at responding to emails trying to sort it out. I simply won't buy from them now and tell everyone I know they shouldn't either.

Also unconfirmed rumour from Hotukdeals -
ASDA will be selling both the black and white versions of the Wii console for £99, but only in stores open on New Years Day, as far as I'm aware the deal does not go past that day.

The two versions on offer are the Nintendo Wii Black Console Bundle including Mario Kart Wii, Black Steering Wheel, Wii MotionPlus, Wii Sports and pre loaded DK game, and the White console including Wii Sports, Wii sports Resort, and motionplus.

Granted limited to a few stores but a good offer for those with a ASDA open.
