Cheap Arse Gaffer |Europe| With Or Without EU

To elaborate a little:

(From their website)

I think for games that have been classified by the BBFC, they have to have the UK releases with the age rating classification. Worth double-checking, but I can't see them taking, say, a Polish version of GTA V, since it probably leaves them open to legal problems.

Nah, I worked in CEX while we stuck 18 stickers on boxes and discs of San Andreas that were imported from France.

Do season passes ever drop in price noticeably all that quickly? Feel like they mostly come down when there's maybe a GOTY/Complete edition release of the games out (if they get one) or only after 9-12 months. Prior to that it feels like season passes are rarely in sale and even if they are, they aren't more than 20-30%.
You're correct, in my experience. although physical games drop in price quickly at retail, digital passes can be kept expensive even afterwards. Easy money for publishers.

Ok, so who all took a chance on that £199 Gameseek Switch pre order?

Poor Gameseek are in quite the pickle now. They are going to take a hit - they just need to decide if it is financially or PR. Guess it depends on how many orders they took.

Think it's obvious which route they're going to go based on the discussion on the last page about them.

I remember Eurogamer advising that it may not be a good deal..

I preorder this morning on amazon, but there is a 75% chance of me canceling, it's damn expensive + games.

I don't see why they are in a pick; this is the same gameseek that lies about stock levels and SKUs. I'm sure they will just cancel everyone and hotukdeals will vow for justice and seeing them in court about their invitation to buy being declined.

Edit: http://www.gameseek.co.uk/video-gam...-honouring-£198.50-nintendo-switch-pre-orders
They are actually honoring it? Crow eaten. Of course it remains to be seen how much stock they actually get in the end.

Their Twitter says they're honouring them, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

There are officially too many games coming out between now and April. I've had to set Camel price watches on the following games...

- Gravity Rush 2
- Kingdom Hearts 2.8
- Kingdom Hearts 1.5 & 2.5 (PS4)
- Nier: Automata
- Ghost Recon: Wildlands
- Horizon: Zero Dawn
- Nioh
- Persona 5

I'm hoping (in the nicest way) that a few of those titles' prices crash after a few weeks similar to how some did in the last 4 months. After what happened between October and December, I'm holding off from Day 1 purely because I saw games for half price only 3 weeks after release.

Getting Yakuza 0 then Switch and Zelda and Persona 5 barring price bombas.

Wanted Horizon, Gravity Rush 2, Nier, KH 1.5&2.5 and Nioh but it's just too much.

Anyone ordered Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - Day One Edition (PS4) from base?

I've placed an order on the 8th and they then emailed me saying that their supplier has been unable to fulfil their requirements and has delayed the shipment until Friday. Well, its Friday and the order status is still On Backorder. I hope they don't cancel all orders.

I have and got the same email. Not sweating it though as got plenty of other stuff to play. Pretty confident it will work out fine

Its crazy. Made a list of the games I want and its shaping up like

RE7 24th January
Nioh 8th February
Horizon 1st March
Mass Effect 23rd March
Persona5 4th April

Gonna have to restrain myself from preordering. Horizon, ME and Persona I'll want to play asap, the others can wait til I have time though. Not sure I'll be done with ME by the time Persona comes out, but I'll make it work :P

Any decent offers on any of them?

Nothing outstanding yet. All floating in the usual £40-£50 mark so far.

Simply have For Honor for £37.85 for anyone that wants that one.

So guys are we not getting the breath of the wild master edition in the UK? Just the special edition?
you know europe always gets screwed. i didnt like most of the nintendo special editions released here. would love to purchase the us version of botw with the sword... importing seems to be the only way...

Seems so - but the version we get is without the cool stuff like the coin and the carry case, and DOES have the crappy looking (IMO) statue.

I'll probably cancel - I have the regular switch edition pre-ordered as well.

It's annoying, because I'd totally SWITCH the statue for the case and coin.

It does have the sword:

Sooo. They left the one thing that is absolutely worthless & they should have removed from the LE into the European Limited Edition and left out the things that would have actually been cool to have (OST, Switch cover case bag thingie)? What in the fucking fuck is wrong with their European branch -_-

What in the fucking fuck is wrong with their European branch -_-

Every time I go to base.com's 3DS section and see the third Dr Kawashima game available for preorder I remember what is wrong with the European branch. That game's non-release but no official cancellation either has just been a joke for several years now.

And a Russian rating logo? Every European country has sanctions on Russia, don't they?

I have the BOTW limited edition pre ordered but the idea of that massive german rating label on the smaller boxes the switch has combined with it not including the main things I wanted (the case and map) is definitely putting me of actually getting it. May just settle for vanilla in the end.

I like statues and such personally, only things in CE's I'm interested in. Tempted to buy the Zelda CE and sell the game afterwards.

Bahhhh... My local store was too by-the-book. *pout*

Print out a UK cover, they won't know the difference. They should have accepted your copy if they really were 'by the book'. Probably had plenty of Bloodborne copies already, or low on cash in store so prioritised other items to get traded in (they do that sometimes)

Xenoblade X also had the Russian rating on the LE.

The box pictured on the LE itself has no ratings logos. Might be placeholder or might actually be that way.

So I don't remember any launch where games were £60. What is going on? Some launches had games at £50ish but £60? That is madness.

Zelda is £50 at thegamecollection but that isn't good enough. £50 should be the maximum and it should be going for £40 from the cheaper retailers.

I'm sure PS4 and XB1 had some £60 games at some retailers before their launches. The N64 definitely did. I wouldn't be too worried about it.

It's RRP which PS4 and XB1 still have games at £60 RRP. Even games after launch, Diablo 3 and Don Bradman Cricket on consoles are£60 RRP and on their digital stores.

£50-60 is the new RRP now. £55 seems to be where they're settled. It'll go down to at least £45 before launch I reckon, but the days of everything touching £40 are gone. Only For Honour and RE7 have of the Q1 games so far.

Bit of a long shot but is there anywhere better to preorder the PC version of Mass Effect Andromeda? Amazon UK has the PC disc version (5 discs lol) for £39.99 which is cheaper by £10 than the digital version (which I still think is stupid), wondered if there's anywhere that can do better?

These are cartridges, not optical discs. Cartridges are generally more expensive to produce. I think a game's price may even partially be determined by how big (in Gigabyte) of a cartridge it's on. E.g. Dragon Quest Heroes I-II is the most expensive title so far in Japan.

As a consumer, I don't really give a shit.

If cartridges cost more to produce, then they should have found a cheaper option or just not passed the cost on to me.
