Chinese massage went terribly wrong: Need Advice

Today I went for a massage like I normally do every 6-8 weeks. However, my normal places were closed, so I went to this new Chinese massage place that was in the middle of a shopping center. It didn't appear to be shady from the outside, and it was fine on the inside as well. Someone greeted me, asked me how long I wanted the session to be, told me it would be $70 for 90 minutes, and I agreed. Once we got started, things seemed to go smoothly like other massage places. However, once she had me turn over on my front, she started stroking my genitals and I quickly told her "no, stop that". She asked me if I was sure, and I said "stop that right now". She apologized profusely and continued with the normal massage. I thought about getting up and leaving, but I'd already been charged $70 for the service.

After the massage was over, she brought me some water, complimented me on my physique, then stood in front of the door asking for a $40 tip. I said "what do you mean $40"? She didn't speak English well, and told me that the minimum I should tip is $40. I told her that I'm not paying an extra $40 on top of the $70 I was charged. We went back and forth for a few minutes until she tried to snatch the card from my hand and run off to charge me. I snatched it back from her, she begged me instead for a $20 tip, and I said no and get the fuck out of my way. I rush out of there, get home, and see that my card has been charged $40 without my authorization. So I called my bank and had them stop the payment.

I don't want to get anyone fired, but what should I do if anything? I had considered telling the police about this place, and how the woman tried to steal my card, but not sure I want the potential drama that would likely come with all of that.

Don't ever go back there. And next time look up a place before you go there if you're not used to it in case they have extra services like that.

thank god the first post covered this. now lets end this thread and not dig any deeper into this rabbit hole.

Just go back and demand the handy you paid for.

management would probably demand they be able to give him a handy because those were the originally understood terms.

Report the incident to your local police department immediately.

Edit: As far as consequences, the place will be investigated and likely shut down. Do not let that deter you. They are likely assaulting other customers as well and it should absolutely be stopped.

Best to just leave it alone. You could call the police and report it but I wonder what that will actually accomplish.

Ah, I was going to suggest telling the police.
You can also leave a review to make sure no-one else goes there.
"This place gives handies but they'll insist on you paying even if you don't want to get off."

Yeah. That review will make sure business plummets.

I mean swap out a few words

That seems oddly desperate of her. Not the handy part, I'd assume she just thinks that's part of the job. But the 40 dollars, then compromising on 20 and then snatching your card.

It's almost like something bad might happen to her if she doesn't get an expected amount of money for her employet...

Generally speaking, in my experience, you're supposed to tip a masseuse. Usually 20%. So, slightly bad form there, but since you were touched inappropriately I won't hold it against you.

If you accidentally ended up in a brothel then, uhh, she's probably not getting much money from the actual massage itself. So you more or less wasted an hour of her time for which she won't get paid. If she seemed super desperate she may be under duress to make that money.

I did actually look it up beforehand. Most of the reviews were positive saying that the massage was great and the place was clean. The only negative reviews had to do with shorting them on time, or not doing as good of a job as promised.

I'm leaning towards getting the full amount charged back to my card. I asked to speak to a manager during the argument and she said there was no manager.

Adventures of GAF man?

But seriously, get a charge back for the tip they tacked on, and make up your mind whether you want to report them to the police, which might get them shut down for prostitution.

Things I would think about are that the girl might really need the money, but that she also might be being exploited by the owners (for example, expecting a huge cut, forcing her to solicit huge tips).

Report this to the local PD ASAP.

If the woman was that desparate, she likely wasn't doing this willingly.

There is a very good chance that she is a trafficking victim and has no ability to leave on her own.

You can easily stop the charges by filing a fraud complaint with your card issuer (which it sounds like you have done), but that isn't going to help the woman (and likely others like her). Get the police involved and do it sooner rather than later as the owners of that shop will continue to victimize her and others until they are caught.

ITT people are like "why did you not take the unwanted sexual services from the person who was probably human trafficked and forced to be a prostitute and is terrified of the consequences if you don't pay her"

That's exactly what I was thinking. Her going through all that screams something bad was going to happen to her if she didn't get that "tip".

You should report this to the police, on top of having your bank stop payment. For all you know, it could be some human trafficking crap going on there (Very unusual in such a public area, but not impossible).
