I meant as in it wants to be sanctimonious, not that it isn't a literal videogame.

Eh.....the game didn't come across to me as that at all, but doesn't really matter. If you didn't like what you saw on youtube then that's fine. Opinions.

To keep it brief I'll touch on one of many points that irked me about this sanctimonious wannabe game:

They took a no-name delusional npc veterinarian doctor that Joel killed to save his daughter and retroactively shifted the narrative into him being this martyr that was going to save humanity, and turned his non-existent no-name npc family into the narrative anchor of the second game (Namely Abby0.

Till now this would've been a fine plot device, the idea that Joel finally gets killed one of these days by an npc after all the murdering he has done to survive.

The problem now is that by the end of both Ellie's and Abby's plots respectively; They've killed dozens of named NPCs in this dumb 'revenge bad' narrative. All of those killed have supposed families and loved ones and friends etc. Because of the stupid precedent that the writers set that any rando npc can now spawned a family that would now hunt down and kill the main character in a humiliating and frankly unrealistic manner--Ellie and Abby should now be completely condemned and must be hunted down to complete this 'cycle of revenge' that the writers cooked up. Essentially; absolutely NOTHING was gained from both Ellie's or Abby's journey except death and destruction. No catharsis for Ellie, no absolution for Abby. And by extension, no satisfaction for many many people that played this game.

And please don't tell me 'that was the point!'
The point sucked, it was unnecessary and it has been done way better by many pieces of literature/media before.

Sounds like you're missing the mark on what the game was all about. Instead of typing it out, I'll simply point you to the Girlfriend Reviews video that perfectly encapsulates what this game truly is

Btw, it's up to the player how many humans Ellie kills, the game gives you that choice so she does not have to kill dozens of non-infected people

.

"When controlling Ellie, the player is forced to kill 15 enemies. Six of them are non-infected, and nine of them are.
Ellie’s NPCs are forced to kill 40 enemies. 36 of them are infected, four are not. This means the non-infected kill total is 10 on Ellie’s side and the infected kill total is 45"

Honestly you seem to just be looking for complaints with this one. Unrealistic? Are we seriously brining up that this is unrealistic in TLOU? This is without a doubt reaching. So much shit happened in the first game that was unrealistic.

Yes the writers created a story for an NPC that we didn't realize would end up mattering much more in the second game. This does not mean that now every single NPC has to follow this same path. This is a precedent you've created in your head cause you're reaching hard for any and all complaints.

I think your last point sums it up perfectly. Not only does ND have to create great games that are so good MS is doing internal reviews saying we can't possibly replicate this. They also have to do it better than many pieces of literature and media that came before them. How many game devs in the world can possibly live up to that standard?

Congratulations to the shareholders. Unfortunately it doesn't make TLoU2 any less disappointing (for me).
