PS5 a slight drop compared to last year, Xbox falls much more than Switch in the month of Switch 2's launch xDD.

Xbox Series: -56%

This is legit mindblowing that Xbox is just losing it this fast in their #1 market! It's been talked about alot, yet I still think it's the most under-talked about story of the year some how.

I think we need to talk about how Xbox's #2 selling game didn't reach the Top 20 overall charts. And Final Fantasy XVI? I expected better. When late PS ports of Microsoft games release, at least many of them show up on NPD, including Grounded. Why isn't XVI on the top 15 list here?

1) a chunk of users likely own multiple platforms and already played it on PS5 (or PC!)
2) most of the user base has just been conditioned to not buy games. Anytime a game comes to the platform you see tons of posts across multiple websites going "no gamepass no play"

It can't be hard to crack into the top 5 monthly charts on a platform where games just don't sell in general.

Imagine showing these stats back in 2020 when "everyone" was hyping the Series consoles release.

PS5 selling 300k in June, over 4 years since release is great. Next year with GTAVI i can see these numbers being similar or even higher, depending on when the game releases.

With NSW1 sales being close to Xbox series S/X sales in the US this year, it means that the likelihood that NSW1 will sell more than Xbox series X/S 2025 WW is very high. So Xbox could finish this year as the fourth best selling console of 2025.

I meant to write "disaster", sorry about that…

I am speaking about the fact that the Switch was sold out everywhere and scalpers used the situation to make a profit.

Don't get me wrong, I know that Mario Kart is one of the most popular franchises (selling like no other game except GTA) but I think most of the players (apart from casual gamers) wait rather for a new 3D Mario. And I think that could have also easily made the console launch considering how long it has been since the last 3D Mario:

I think Mario Kart is is perfect for most players including the huge number of casual gamers...

I would not call games that sell 30 million+ and from the largest entertainment property in history "niche" personally
