Mario Kart World Announced | Nintendo Switch 2 Direct

Seems like there are a bunch of costume unlocks. Maybe those will be littered in the open world and vehicle upgrades through the normal progression? I'm not much for open world racers to be honest as I think it usually hurts track design and I do think it could limit some creativity (the anti-grav stuff from 8). It sounds like you'll race from one track to the next to make use of thee open world which could be a neat idea to determine starting position on the track.

I don't really give a shit about costumes lol. But we'll see.

Open world does often hurt track design, like in Burnout Paradise. But this seems different. It seems more like a bunch of typical MK tracks spread out in the world. Once you're on one of them you're "locked" into it during that race. Or at least that's what I think.

I fucking hate Burnout Paradise. I think you are correct in how they'll design the tracks and plop them in a world. I just hope it isn't as useless as the most recent Everybody's Golf.

I feel like this game looks good while having a nice evolution for the series. But it's position as the flagship for the new console is too much for it to carry alone. They needed a new 3D Mario alongside it or the DK game released at launch.

Graphics look great. Performance seemed smooth.

Hammer Bros look badass! I loved that volley of hammers he launched. I'm definitely going to use him.

Knockout Tour should be fun. I enjoy that style of racing in the various games that have had it over the years. It has a great arcade vibe to it.

I enjoy free roaming in games so that will be fun. I do hope that when racing, roaming is restricted. Otherwise I can imagine the no-lifers mapping out crazy shortcuts in free roam for race time.

Costumes and outfits are sweet. I loved Dapper Boo and that moustache!

Rally point racing from track to track through regions is interesting. It seems like a logical progression. Overall I think it looks like a good entry in the series and a good launch title.

Finally, an innovative Mario Kart game!

But I'll pass. I don't get the hype around Mario Kart games, or Smash bro games... I bought these two because everyone was praising them so much, but I found out my instincts were right, and I ended up losing 100~ dollars. If I had these at my birthday parties in elementary-middle school, my opinion might've been different. We always played worms armageddon and no one knew how to fly a sheep. That was not cool.

I have never ever seen so little hype for a new Mario Kart but that is probably because of all the negativity surrounding Switch 2.

Weather effects and night and day seem like a great addition. The game looks really clean as well.
Only negativity is by chronically online folk btw.

The fact that it looks exactly like MK8D is a huge letdown. No one is asking for it to be ultra cutting edge realistic. It's disappointing.
Keep eating it up though, you're obviously Nintendo target demographic. Praise whatever they feed you, accept and say thank you.
It actually have way better materials, lighting and more detailed models... The problem? The shadows are too bright, making the whole presentation look really flat, giving the impression that it looks like a Switch 1 game... I wonder why Nintendo is having so many misses in the graphic design and art direction with most stuff related to Switch 2

You can tell they've been cooking this one for a long time. Seems to be absolutely jam-packed with content compared to previous entries just from the little we've seen.
I really like the added move set during race like grinding through wires and jumping between walls.

Who are you gonna use?

Who are you gonna use?

I'm looking at Hammer Bro and Snowman. Wario and Pauline will sit in the rotation as well.

I remember playing Mario kart 64 and exploring every inch of that polygonized world and having lots of fun. This is a dream come true!

I'm thinking if this will be a gaas, and they will replace parts of the world or add to it during its time. Def customes and stuff like Splatoon, but special tracks etc. Events. This could be like the fortnite island.

Saw Mario kart coming, Mario kart "world" is interesting, I probably would have named it Mario kart Switch, basically like Mario kart 64. Unless Nintendo cleans up their online act, as good as Mario kart is, they're a move away from being the best racer which is why I think games like Forza and Gran Turismo are so interesting.

As someone who skipped the Switch version altogether, I'm actually very excited to play a Mario Kart game again... And it doesn't look like a total blatant cash grab!

But it's Mario Kart. If you want Nintendo Kart, go make it.

And it doesn't mean that more characters can't be added after launch.

Sounds entitled to me.
Dont bother, right now entire GAF is gloom and doom mode on anything Nintendo, they will find every little petty thing to complain about.

Are the new tracks mostly straight roads? That's disappointing.

Probably not. The game has championship with normal tracks. I believe its just that some tracks are gonna be like that and possibility of doing custom track route directions. Probably as a part of the overworld concept.

You are very right, and it's not just here. I've seen some real rhetoric already lambasting Switch 2 on YouTube. Yeah, sure, Nintendo is doing some questionable things but people are going to the extreme as usual. It's a generation of hyperbole and social media lemming cultism. Sad, really.

This was absolutely true yesterday, but I feel like things are mellowing out today. I think that Metroid Prime 4 Treehouse footage sold some people on what the hardware is capable of.

This has been my problem with most of the series starting with Mario Kart 64. I absolutely love the more challenging tracks from the Super Nintendo game.
