CircuitCity.com pre-order bundles: ripoff?

VALIS said:
I was hammering away at CC's website since about 1:45 myself, and had a bundle in my cart since I first could around 2:10, even though I couldn't complete my order until 4:30. But yeah, they handled this about as poorly as possible. Even though I supposedly got one, I'm not gonna believe it until the damn thing is plugged into the wall. I give it a less than 50% chance. I still have it in my mind that I'm gonna be waiting in line on Monday night/Tuesday morning.

I suppose there's little risk for those who took the free shipping option, but still, fairly irritating.

I was just check my order status and notice its missing the Universal Remote, didn't the Gold Package have the Universal remote listed?

After today, I just hope that Circuit City burns in hell. Never, ever taking my business there again except for price matching them against Fry's or something.

It's not the fact I didn't get a 360 that pisses me off so much, it's the fact that Circuit City were so unprepared. Despite the apparent problems they had before even putting the damn bundles up for purchase, they did almost nothing to fix it. They didn't completely close down the website to do maintenence; they simply let whoever they could let in, in and customers who had bundles in their shopping carts within the first fucking minute got screwed.

Way to fucking go, assholes.
I'm sure they will care.

Exactly =(

That's why I'm not going to even bother sending them a complaint, because it'd be worthless. But I hope for the PS3 launch, they're better prepared to at least not have their website crash and burn at something like this.

LOL @ such drama. I doubt they'll lose much business from you even if they cared :lol

That's pretty much how the story goes basically. My expectations are realistic mind you; I really doubt they'll even at all get phased from this. But in the days of toughening competition, one disgruntled customer can certainly cause a lot of damage if they get the public to sympathize (like with that iPod nano faulty dealie). Won't be me doing the deed though. :lol

but the drama is absurd.

i doubt CC execs said to themselves "lets piss off customers, fuck with gamers and crash the server and make people angry".

stuff happens. obviously their webhost got overloaded. some people got 360s today that CC could have presold and taken $$$ down back in june.

the sense of entitlement people have is amazing.

:lol :lol

How could they have presold them in June, when they only got their finalized alottments this month?

I'm well aware of how the situation occurred. I WAS PART OF IT. I'm just pissed off that they wasted my time, and I hope Circuit City, you know, improves their service next time (and there WILL be a next time: PlayStation 3). There's no entitlement here at all; I'm not asking for a $10 Gift Card or a free 360 or asking CC to cancel another person's order because I had mine in cart early. I'm only hopeful for improvement.

My order status has changed

MS 882224035811 Xbox 360™
MS 882224035811

Qty: 1 Ordered: 11/18/2005

Shipping
Estimated ship date: 11/20/2005
Estimated arrival date: 11/27/2005

It says "Shipping" so I guess that's the process of getting it ready to ship out. I'll update later when it's actually shipped.

What did it say before it change to shipping? I notice my said Shipping a few hours after I placed my order on Friday but not sure if it had said shipping all along.

Also, my debit card was charge on Friday for the purchase but was the charge was remove Friday night. Is this normal or should I be worried? The 360 is estimated to ship today and arrive tomorrow but have not yet been charge.

Mine still says

Shipping
Estimated ship date: 11/20/2005
Estimated arrival date: 11/21/2005

Which it has said since ordering.

Link1110, didn't you say you called them yesterday? What did they say? I find it hard to believe they're shipping on a Sunday.

I just checked the website again. Looks like the rep today didn't know what he was talking about.

The games and P&C kit will ship out tomorrow most likely, but I'll have Tiger Woods by the time it gets here, I intend to sell those 2 anyway (I stink at racing games.)

The CC.com CS reps seem as bad as the Walmart.com ones :lol

My experience is the complete opposite of Link's. The rep told me my order has shipped out (all of it, too), yet the web site still says "shipping" with no tracking numbers or anything. He said to expect it tomorrow with an outside chance of Tuesday. Shrug. Beats me.

edit: Link, how is your shipping information showing it was shipped on the 21st when today is the 20th?

Hmm.... No idea, that's odd. It's not showing up in tracking yet, but tracking never shows up immediately anyway.
