I've no idea how legit this is, but if there are actually 170 deaths a year annually a a result of circumcision then that alone is reason to stop doing it. Especially since it's completely pointless.

Sorry I didn't lookup the source, but to me It is painfully obvious a baby getting cut isn't causing people PTSD because you would have to remember the experience to begin with. The myth is either misleading or using bad information and it's making it's other points less creditable by doing so.
I'm also sure that there are some cases of depression caused by getting cut, but it is heavily outweighed by those documented cases of men who aren't cut and have been embarrassed by women and men alike for being different. There's a higher chance of having those symptoms if you aren't cut. Just doing a quick google search I'm sure will give you pages on pages of results of people wishing they had been cut to fit in and the issues they have had.
I am not saying this should be a reason to get cut, and it is not right to make fun or treat some different because of this - I am saying this point is moot and factually incorrect at least concerned with PTSD. There are good points to be made here. That is not one of them

We did it for both of our sons. One of them cried for all of 10 seconds the other didn't even seem to notice. I could only imagine how it would be as an adult.

When my child was born the nurse looked at me funny when I said that I will not circumcised my son.
I believe that there is no reason to do it outside of religious beliefs. I actually think it's somewhat barbaric, we accept circumcision for men but female circumcision is called genital mutilation. I don't need to give my son a trauma as soon as he is born, being born is a traumatic experience in itself.
Besides I have a very good sexual life and I don't go around exhibiting my shlong so... Rule of thumb, if you have to ask, don't do it.

I had no pain (but I was put under), it was just ridiculously sensitive for over a week due to areas being exposed that were not previously.
My procedure was medically necessary and would never recommend it to anyone.
The reason it is pushed in the US so hard has nothing to do with for profit healthcare and the millions generated annually for a unnecessary procedure, honestly!!

Just let them get it done when they're older, if they want to. If it's a significant issue to them, they'll cope with modest discomfort for a few weeks.

It's quite sad to see how many Gaffers treat this like it should be a "discussion" with "arguments" for "both sides". There's nothing really to discuss. If you're doing it to your baby without an actual medical reason(no, decreased chances of some STDs in some extreme situations isn't a valid reason) you're wrong. Pure and utterly wrong. If your son wants to do it when grown up, that's great! But please, please, don't make a stupid decision that may affect your child for the rest of his life, and one he can't reverse.
I mean, I'm 40 years old and I have never experienced anyone in my life making fun of or saying anything negative about my penis.

I'm circumcised I always wonder what life would be like if my dickhead had a little jacket or something. That being said I think it was medically warranted for me or that's what my mom always tells me when I'm like why you no love my foreskin? I like my penis and have no complaints about it but I don't think I'd love it any less if I had foreskin. All of my girlfriends that have had enough experience to have a preference say they like it circumcised more though. The two main arguments they have is cleanliness and aesthetics.
That being said if I had to make the choice myself I'd just leave my little mans skinflap intact unless removal is medically warranted.

I'm circumcised and honestly I don't think it would have affected my life either way. I guess I'm glad I had it done though? If I ever had a boy, I would definitely not have it done though
I also don't necessarily agree with the "Wait til he changes his mind" argument, as most who get the operation later in life find it pretty miserable, or opt not to because of the potential pain behind it. If you don't get him the circumcision, he probably isn't going to change his mind. Now it doesn't matter all too much, but this is definitely not an ideal option

Some of the responses to this are pretty ridiculous. Circumcision was and still is the norm in the states, so to claim that all of those people are monsters is a bit much, especially when they had religious reason.

There is no need to circumcise a boy other than for medical reasons, none.
The only other reasons are for aesthetics, and that should be left up to the boy himself when he is older.

However for some men, there is still too much skin and because of that they can get it circumcised for aesthetic reasons or better sex which is absolutely fine and up to them.

I'm not sure if you live in the states, but at one point we actually had a television reality show about it IIRC, or at least 1 EP of a show about it. It was something about new dad having to make the decision for his kid, and not wanting his kid to go thru what he did (Apparently he was really ridiculed), it was probably made over dramatic for television, but the fact that it exists says something.

Most men would say that labioplasty vaginas look better so maybe you should start systematically doing that to your girl babies as well. But where have these puritanical crazies got the idea to do it so much from? Europe's had its fair share of religious nutcases over the centuries, but I don't think any country here does it even half as much as the US. If Judaism was the prevalent religion I could kind of get it. But it isn't.
