Kept up the good fight last night, mugged Dido by attacking a city-state she took over the second she claimed it, and founded another city in a safe location.
Then Ghandi came to me with a peace treaty to get Washington to leave him alone which included his only other city. I thought why not... and promptly inherited a 24 pop city that decimated my happiness to -15. Tried to trade it to Washington but he's all like "No thanks, brah." Kinda fucked.
It's the only plan I can think if at the moment raze it until I can handle the pop size. What makes me hesitant is I'm sitting at -15 unhappiness and I've only puppeted it yet. Things are going to get worse before they get better. Can't you just raze it? Or doesn't that work for cities you've gained through diplomacy?
If I see a settler coming for my lands I almost always declare war and kill it before it gets the chance to settle - and this is coming from someone who generally plays peacefully. A settler coming for territory you consider yours is something that generally only occurs in the early game, and by the mid game, after you've settled your lands, the AI has generally forgotten all about it.
They really need to improve the way the AI estimates their military strength. Suleiman thought he'd crush me, but he forgot to notice that I had artillery (where he only had canons).
Dude got crushed hard. Basically his entire army was slaughtered.
Man, I'm so passive in that situation, and would be more likely (or certain!) to simply curse my rotten luck, and lack of foresight in not grabbing that land sooner... but then let them keep it, hoping things stay friendly. Shit, I'm passive.
DEO, I shall try your tactic in my next game - thanks mate.
Suing for peace can be a little funky too. You can slaughter 500 of their units, whilst losing none of your own and AI will say "Ha, come to beg for mercy?" if they still have a relatively strong army. They really need to improve the way the AI estimates their military strength. It was released a few days before the sale began. I doubt it will go on sale until christmas, since it's still in the top 10.Is BNW ever going to go on sale in NA. I was hoping it would have a price drop during the summer sale but it didn't.
Damnit, I was going to sleep at one (already bad timing...) but then the Ottomans, the Shashone and Japan forced through a World Ideology = Autocracy vote, all denounced me and then started calling me names. The Iroquai told me the Shashone were prepping an attack force to take out my colony city so I got the war machine geared up - luckily I was sitting on a stupidly large number of funds - and then that asshole Suleman dropped a great general on my border and stole my salt/silver mines. I declared war and we fought for 5 years or so. Suleman was a generation behind in tech so I basically overran him, but the Shashone was my military equal and had a freaking flood of units just running at my colony city. Managed to defend it and was about to go nuclear when he sued for peace.
Damnit. I'll probably have to go for a science victory now... the entire world apparently went up in revolution while I was concentrating on this war and now everyone's either Autocrat or wants to be an Autocrat, except me because my tourism/culture is balls.
Is there a way to see how much damage aircraft will take if you bomb places? Seems to be guesswork. Also finding it difficult to work out how exactly the Revolution stuff works, though it's apparent higher tourism = better

I thought the point of airsweep was more to spring the trap of the waiting interceptors more than identify future damage.I think you can perform an Air Sweep with which identifies ground resistance.

What do you guys do with captured missionaries/prophets (foreign religion)?
For some reason Morocco decided to declare war on me, so as I was barreling down on their capital they spawned about 5 missionaries for whatever reason and I captured them all. As punishment I'm currently using them to explore the far reaches of the sea before I guess I'll just delete them.
Longbowmen -> Gatling Gun can be a very pleasant, deadly force. Extra range on a gatling gun seems slightly op to me.
Oh and Ship Of The Line's and Exploration are great too. An extra movement on top of england's extra movement? Yes please.
+ the wonder that gives more naval movement
that exists right?
Last minute (OK not really last minute it was 2040) diplomatic victory get!
Making the Hubble telescope so I can use the two scientists to rush through to Globalization and use my diplomats to gain the delegates I needed was far more exciting than I expected. I feel like I pulled some Oceans 11 shit.
Yeah, I really really hate that shit. Especially since that's one of the only wonders I bother building if the terrain dictates it.I swear to god getting Petra sniped from you by 3 or 2 turns is the most disheartening feeling. I had Desert Folklore too so I was in prime position to abuse Petra like nobody's business...

"Ah-choo!"Sounds like a good reason for an invasion to me.

The Great IKEA.There should be a Tundra equivalent wonder to Petra
Yes.I liked Civ 5 quite a bit. Is this thing good?

Good idea for a mod, but I can't think of a man-made wonder, only natural ones, which are pretty hard to add. There should be a Tundra equivalent wonder to Petra

Ouch. Do you cut forests and place production focus in the city?Darius just beat me by one turn to Petra and before that by two turns to The Hanging Gardens... Terrible game

If you're playing on Immortal or Deity, I wouldn't even bother with some wonders, the AI will make them first. Most of the time it's better capture a capital early on, you'll get wonders as a bonus.
If you raze a city with a wonder you don't free it up again, do you
I was thinking, it'd be cool if the game took snapshots of the mini-map every 10 turns to show the growth and evolution of the world at the end of the game.
