"Clarice" - CBS TV series, direct sequel to "Silence of the Lambs," coming this fall

Thomas Harris's novels about cannibalistic serial killer Hannibal Lector have inspired numerous adaptations over the years, from movies such as Manhunter and Silence of the Lambs to the acclaimed TV show Hannibal. But almost as iconic is Hannibal's nemesis in Silence Of the Lambs, FBI agent Clarice Starling. A new show focusing on Starling is on the way, and it's set to premiere in the fall.

The show is titled Clarice, and it will be part of CBS's fall line-up. The series stars Rebecca Breeds (Pretty Little Liars) in the title role, and it's set six months after the events of Silence of the Lambs. Clarice is produced by Alex Kurzman, who oversees CBS's various Star Trek shows, and also stars Kal Penn (Designated Survivor), Michael Cudlitz (The Walking Dead), and Nick Sandow (Orange is the New Black).

So Rebecca Breeds is the new Clarice Starling....

......and Alex Kurzman is producing the show.

Takes place 6 months after the events of SOTL. Not sure if the events of this show will fit into the timeline of Red Dragon and Hannibal as well or if it's starting its own offshoot.

I don't watch 'Pretty Little Liars' so I am unfamiliar with Breeds work

No premiere date is set, just coming this fall

I can never get into these kinda shows where they continue a story with different actors from the originals. Not to mention I just hate network tv in general.

No. That movie was all about Hopkins role. She could be replaced with anyone and still it would be amazing movie.

I disagree it would be a different movie without Jodi Foster. Although I don’t trust CBS and it’s writers to not change Sterling into some type of feminist caricature.

Hmmm so it looks like I'll have Sling for longer.
All of the Hannibal Lector movies were good and so was the tv show.

I'd be all for a Clarice series but .... CBS?
It's going to be some sort of procedural bullshit. No thanks.

Yeh that's sort of the thing, she's just a normal person who has to work with this monster. Everyone has heard a million Hannibal Lecter impressions. How many times have you heard a Clarice Starling impression? What's her equivalent of the "fava beans and a nice chianti" quote. He's only on screen in Silence of the Lambs for 16 minutes, isn't the protagonist or the antagonist and he's still the main thing people talk about with that film. Remove Clarice Starling from Hannibal and there's still plenty you can do. Remove Hannibal from Clarice Starling and it's just a typical FBI procedural. What's the hook?

Being a Welshman, there can never be a replacement for Anthony Hopkins here.

This shit is DOA...

Mads Mikkelsen was pretty great. Different, but still great. The Hannibal TV show is well worth checking out if you haven't before.
