Now what was funny about this manual wasn't the fact that it looked like it was typed up in MS Word, or the characters that might be considered stereotyping today, but the credits. The credits for a ubisoft game that could fit on an A6 piece of paper. I do sometimes wonder how they support so many devs now.

I agree with the stereotyping thing. I'm a previously deceased, reanimated green conglomeration of body parts that belonged to my home village's criminals, and I gotta tell you, I don't drive. Nice going, Ubisoft. You've lost this (these?) customers.

I remember this

Compared to "thanks for the £70
here's an empty map, entertain yourselves with your mates"
As opposed to:

"Here's like 2-3 hours of content sharing about 50 assets that we made incredibly difficult so you didn't complete it the same day."

Back then...yeah
But I like stuff like Flashback, I loved Desert Strike series.

Not sure if I prefer the Mega Drive cover though 🤔

It was also on the PSX

Yeah, those two games were incredibly rudimentary too, you could complete Flashback in around an hour, and Desert Strike was just a big brown square with some sprites dotted around.

I love those games, they hold a fond place in my heart. But don't get it twisted like games are a rip off nowadays.

You get A LOT more bang for your buck than you used to.

Then back in the 90's?
Yeah absolutely.
Content and quality increased dramatically in the 32-bit era and it rocketed with PS2/GCN/XBOX and kinda leveled with the generation after until they started doing the season pass which gives you stuff that you literally just unlocked by playing a generation ago.
Fighting games are worse, multiple season passes each with 4 characters for between £15/£25 for games that the originals had 18 unlockable characters by just beating the game under conditions.
